TheSongOfTheStars. Male. Sunkit (Sunpaw, Sunclaw) Partnered with Jack
SongclanLike a rippling shadow, Firedark slipped into the first trees of Sootclan's territory.
It'd been less than a moon since he had last been there.
Less than a moon since he'd met her.
And now, like a moonbeam she came sliding out from between the trees to meet him, with an elegance that left him breathless.
"Honeypetal," he whispered and she smiled at him.
Firedark's heart swelled as he looked down at the two wringling wet scraps of life, nuzzling against Honeypetal's damp flank.
She beamed at him and he smiled back, coming deeper into the burrow.
"They're both boys," she said in a soft tired voice "What should we name them?"
He sniffed gently at one of his sons"What about Smokekit?"
"I like it," she smiled "What about the other one? You're so much better at names than I am."
"Sunkit?" He suggested, running a gentle tounge over his son's yellow stripes.
"Lovely," she murmured.
"You alright?" He asked, coming up to nuzzle her cheek "You seem worried."
Honeypetal tucked her ears limply against her head "I'm worried about them."
"What's wrong? Are they ill?"
"No, Firedark, use your head," her voice went sharp "What's going to happen to them? They're half-clan, that's forbidden!"
"Oh..." Firedark's voice trailed away. At first, when he fell in love with Honeydew he felt the fear of breaking the codes, but it passed as every nigh he slipped away and never was he caught.
But now it wasn't just a few stolen minutes beneath the moon.
Now it was a den in the plains that seperated the clans with two lives that were torn between two worlds.
"I... I don't know," he said hesitantly "Maybe we can take turns coming to watch them. "
"What about when they're too big to stay in the burrow? When they've grown? When we can't keep them a secret anymore?"
His ears flattened as he looked down at his kits "I... I don't know," he took a heavy breath and puffed his chest out "Let's not worry about it? It'll be alright."
Honeypetal shook her head "It won't."
"We'll think of something," he said, nuzzling her cheek "And we can keep it a secret if no one knows about them."
But Honeydew wasn't convinced.
"Hey Firedark where ya going?"
Firedark turned, halfway out of the camp as Willowsun called to him.
"Uh....nowhere," he said slowly "Just for a walk."
"You seem to be taking a lot of walks lately," she said "Do you maybe want some company?"
"No! No company! I like to be alone!" He shouted, and started running away from the friendly she-cat.
"But don't you get lonely?" She called chasing after him.
"No!" He yelled back.
Disappointed, Willowsun stopped following her clan mate and shook her head at his strange behavior as she returned to camp.
Sharp-eyed Sandclaw, Songclan's deputy, watched the entire exchange from the shadow of a nearby tree and after Willowsun returned, he slipped into the forest after Firedark.
At the burrow Firedark was greeted by his two sons who came bursting put to meet him.
He dropped the mouse he'd caught on his way and instantly the kits tore into it.
"Oh thank goodness you brought fresh prey," Honeypetal said coming out of the burrow "I haven't been able to find anything more than a rock beetle."
"We've scared off the prey again,," he sighed "We'll have to move dens again. Maybe by that stream."
"I'd like that," she smiled and nuzzled his cheek.
"Firedark?" A hard voice interrupted the moment and Firedark turned to Sandclaw's horrified face.
