Aurek lives on the outskirts of a big city by the river. Her house isn't very large, but the backyard is deceptively large. This house is two story-only because it has a basement- and is on the top of a wide flat hill. Her bedroom is full of books and craft supplies. Her history textbooks take up her bedside table and every other available study space throughout the house. The kitchen has the basics; stove, a few pots and pans, a fridge, some dishes, and a motley assortment of food. Her living room is usually covered in papers for various assignments, or current projects. Most of the rooms are painted in some shade of blue or green, sometimes both.
The basement has been converted into a large and quiet study space. Soft rugs adorn the room in shades of purple that blends nicely with warm wood of the desk, shelves, and futon. Several lamps of various shapes and sizes are scattered around the room to provide light wherever one might be. One corner of the basement is filled with all sorts of pillows and cushions. Some of them are in the shapes of animals or her favorite characters from various media. A few are even of historical figures that she made herself. A few large beams are set around the room, to support the upper floor. Some of these beams have things hung on them, such as a tack board and a weekly planner.
Out in the backyard there is a small vegetable garden that she tends to help supplement what she can buy at the store. The grass is the backyard is a little unkempt, but not for lack of care. There are a few shady trees towards the back of the yard with some well worn patches underneath. There is a swinging bench set up under the porch roof; the cushions well used. The porch also has a grill, which sees some use and has a bags of charcoal and wood chips propped against a leg; already opened. The front yard has several varieties of flowers, mostly bulb flowers. A few herbs are planted in pots, including a large rosemary bush that has bright violet flowers when in bloom. From the front door to the sidewalk is at most twenty feet.
The surrounding neighborhood is on a grid, which makes it easy to get from place to place. South several blocks is her university and work place. Southwest on a corner taking up a few blocks is the grocery store. To the east is a park filled with trees and brightly painted playground equipment that see frequent daily use. Four blocks to the north is the river, which is surprisingly and wonderfully clean despite being next to such a heavily populated area. A certain bench overlooking the river is frequented by a particular visitor hauling books, not all for studying.
