Hey everyone. ÇwÇ Walkers is looking to add more breed-specific markings and coat colors to our species!!
Post below to be added!!
There is no limit on how many you create.
You may pick a name or give name ideas for the marking or coat color you create, you may also give it a quick description as well as info on how it passes in breedings or if it’s a mutation that’s random, as well as give an idea for what the gene would be listed as if you want to. (Gene example - O for overo)
The current breed-specific markings:
Breed-Specific Markings:
Grit or Gritty (Gr_) - very common; intensified sooty, can be reversed to white/cream but is mostly always dark brown/black, appears under paint and appaloosa markings, sometimes over.
Ex. Bay Grit or Gritty Bay
Speckle (S_) - common; patches of intense spotting, usually appearing where the body sees the most sunlight, appears in lighter and/or darker shades if the coat color, appears over paint and appaloosa markings
Ex. Palomino Speckle or Speckled Palomino
Bright or Brightened (bb) - common; recessive gene that brightens any base coat into and intensified color, makes red roans more red, blue roans and blue taffys more blue, cherry chestnut/bay a reder tone. Does not effect mane/tail. Appears only on the base coat, does not effect paint or appaloosa markings; can brighten rib marks and galaxy.
Ex. Brightened Blue Taffy or Bright Blue Taffy
Rib Marks or Ribbing (Rm_) - uncommon; skinny, curved, rib like markings that 'hang' along the topline, like ribs. Can appear from the rump to the base of the skull on one or both sides, in patches or an unbroken set, appears over paint and appaloosa markings, mostly in black or white, but any shade of the base coat is acceptable, can be varied in intensity/darkness.
Ex. Black w/ Rib Marks or Black w/ Ribbing
Flare or Flaring (Fl_) - uncommon; flare appears only in coordination with bright, the horse must show bright to have flare. flare appaears as a mutation of bright, in where bright will intensify on the "soft" parts of the body (around the genitals, behind the legs, the under belly, the throat, and around the eyes and muzzle) and create an almost highlighted effect.
Ex. Brightened Silver Bay w/ flare/flaring
Galaxy (+G_) - rare; swirling whisps of colored marks ranging from medium grey to cream; multiple patches to full body covering is seen, two-toned marks are also possible, appears over paint and appaloosa markings
- irregular galaxy can take the form of images or words
Ex. Chestnut w/Galaxy or Chestnut Galaxy
If galaxy is based off of something, list the main theme - ex. Theme is roses; Rose Galaxy
Merle (mm) - very rare; recessive gene similar to merle in dogs, using a combination of the main base coat along with lighter shades, grey, black, and/or white depending on the coat. appears under any paint or appaloosa markings, does not exist with roan as they are on the same locus (Roan's can carry merle; ex. Rnm or mRn).
Ex. Dunalino Merle or Merle Dunalino
Skeletal Paint (Skelly Paint) - (Ske_) - very rare; once thought to be a mutation of tobiano, this gene is on its own locus. this marking mostly forms into the shape of a skeleton, but can take other shapes as well, even words. it does not have to cover the full body of the horse and appears over appaloosa markings. this marking only appears in white, and is reserved for customs only or special adopts.
Ex. Grullo Skeletal Paint or Grullo Skelly Paint
Inverted Skeletal Paint (Inverted Skelly Paint) - (ISke_) - very rare; once thought to be a mutation of tobiano, this gene is on its own locus. this marking mostly forms into the shape of a skeleton, but can take other shapes as well, even words. it does not have to cover the full body of the horse and appears over appaloosa markings. unlike regular skelly paint, inverted can appear in any shade of the base coat or black. this marking is reserved for the spooky tales event and can only achieved through the event or breeding, after the event.
Ex. Grullo w/Inverted Skeletal Paint or Grullo w/Inverted Skelly Paint
