Short story:So me and a lot of other Viscets were invited to a ugly sweater party,And Man do I hate this sweater.Its not My taste of a sweater,But my friend said I should come,I said no but changed my mind since I had nothing to do.There were a lot of viscets and a lot of ugly sweaters,I wasn´t having that much fun.I showed That I was but I really wasn´t.I didn´t want to leave since my friends would be upset,So I stayed.I continued to talk to my friends,Waiting for this party to end.
*1 hour later*
Finally,The party was over and everyone was getting ready to go back home.I took some left overs so that I could have some food later.I said goodbye to my friends and soon left.
*10 minutes later*
I finally made it home,I took off the clothes I had and put on my pjs and climbed into bed,I soon fell into a deep sleep.

“Bartholomew Evander Livingston, you will wear this sweater and you will at least act like you like it!” My mother, Grace was yelling at me over this stupid sweater. I rolled my eyes and took it from her. “Fine!” I exclaimed, hoping this was all over now. It’s not like I asked my grandfather to buy me a stupid sweater for the Christmas party. Why would he even think it was a good idea to buy a sixteen year old an ugly sweater like this? Does he want me to socially crash and burn?

I grumbled under my breath until my mother spoke again. “We think this might be your grandfather’s last Christmas.” My eyes widened slightly but she didn’t notice, just solemnly left my room. I stifled a soft whimper as my ears fell back. This is the first I had ever heard of his failing health. My mind began to spin. What was going wrong? Was it cancer? Was it just sickness or old age? I sat on the edge of my bed, clutching the horrible sweater in my hands like a vice.

My father had never been there, but my grandfather had. He took me camping, taught me how to pitch a tent and fish. Just the boring, normal stuff I had begun to crave because of the problems I had begun to have with my friends backstabbing me. Because of this I began to call him “dad” and recognized him as such because we lived with him anyway. Mom and I moved in with him because no matter how hard she worked she couldn’t sustain enough for an apartment in the city and assistance was damn near impossible to obtain.

I stared down at the dreaded sweater, the weight of the world on my shoulders. No matter how I tried I couldn’t lift my ears, I couldn’t crack a smile. All I could do, for just a few moments, was sob. I cried into the sweater, pouring my emotions into the fabric as I tried desperately to get my feelings together. The lump in my throat caused a horrible ache as I swallowed and choked back heaves around it.

After a moment I composed myself, taking in a deep breath. I stood up and shed my other shirt, pulling the sweater over my head and onto my torso. Mom was right. I would smile, I would wear this sweater and I would go on like this was the best Christmas ever because it had to be. It had to be for my dad.
