Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

This Mini Pinscher mix was paired with this other wary boy (already adopted by one of our patrons) because his attitude is so infectious-- even with one leg missing, it never seems to hinder his vivacious spirit. He's such a joy to everyone at the shelter, always wanting to make friends with virtually every creature he meets. It's best that someone takes him home, or else the shelter might not want to let him go!

How having three legs helps him out and why:
Having three legs most certainly makes his life a bit easier since well...he didn't have to worry about walking on all fours! He also seemed to have better control now that he got use to his three legs and it seemed to have given him a lot more confidence in himself and can see that even with him losing a leg he can still run and live life like nothing has happened and that means a lot to him. He is more agile and he has less limitation it seems and that nothing could stop him and it made him stronger and he doesn't take his life for granted anymore life he use to and looks to the bright things. It just changed him a lot and he seems more happier these days.

Despite his missing leg, he lives life to the fullest and never let's his having only three legs stand in his way. In fact, he thinks that only having three legs is a blessing because he now sees how every moment is special and should be cherished.

How having three legs helps him out and why: Apollos three legs have helped him many times in his life and in fact he doesn't feel he needed it anyways. He moves around quite well without it being able to manuver things normal dogs couldn't and most importantly through all he's been through it will bring him to his perfect owner whoever that may be.

How having three legs helps him out and why:
Samuel is called the sock bandit in the house, I know you're wondering; 'What does this have to deal with him being three legged?' Well get ready for this. He does have trouble jumping up on things, I know this from owning Flynn and Journey, jumping = not fun. Though Samuel is the best jumper we have always seen, having him even help are other dogs get back into the swing of jumping again. He does have a prosthetic leg, but he doesn't like it, as it irritates him to much. He as known as the other dog's therapy dog, which he loves, earning extra treats, and getting to help out whenever he wants to. Learning to walk again was of course hard, still, he loved every moment of it, because he had the shelter there to help him every step of the way, so he also has a special bond with all the staff in some way. Samuel thinks of having three legs as a gift and would never really give it up for the word, but at least he isn't a two legged dog. He would love to help one of those dogs as well, but fortunately there are very few dogs that have cases that bad. Samuel will always be the one who cares about everyone, even little old me! Nothing will change, unless Samuel makes it that way!
