Prompt 1 - Nature Quote:
"The tallest oak in the forest was once just a tiny nut that held it's ground"

Lilac started off life as fairly shy and fragile back but has since bloomed into a very brave and courageous Viscet. This quote was one that a very special human would tell her during tough times and it helped her get over her problems. By repeating this quote, she is able to comfort and calm herself at the same time because it reminds her that everything around her started off small and weak and is now where it is. With her journey from home, she gained confidence that she could do anything and while she may need a helping hand to steady her when the strong winds blow, she can still get through whatever is thrown her way.

Prompt 2 - Their Journey:
Dive, twist, swim.
My fins slapped at the water as I spun through a stretch of ocean. I blew bubbles from my mouth and chased them up to the surface. Upon breaking the surface, I realized that something was off. There were no birds in sight and the air was still. I turned too late to see a net thrown onto me and I was yanked out of the water. I flopped on a boat a bit as I tried to get up onto my feet but I was kept down by weights in the net. The humans surrounding me were speaking loudly but I couldn’t understand them at all. I thrashed under the net but to no avail. I felt tears in my eyes as the boat sped away from the island I had called home.

It was hours on the boat and nothing to see but endless water over the edge of the ship. The humans were careful to stay away from my powerful jaws and tail and kept the net over me so I couldn’t move or escape. Once I saw land, I knew it was too late to try and wrestle my way out of their grips.

They docked the boat and I was manhandled onto the dock and into a crate awaiting me. The crate was cramped and I longed to stretch out my fins and legs again. The traveling felt like it took forever to get to wherever they were taking me.

However when they did stop traveling, the crate bounced around a bit as I was placed in the spot where they had dragged me all the way here for. When the crate opened, I bolted forward and right into some water. I quickly dove and swam forward only to hit a glass wall. I curved around to try to find an opening but I was surrounded by glass. I came back to the surface and climbed up onto the land to see that I was in an enclosure of some sort. I was in an aquarium.

My life was to be surrounded by glass and gawked at by humans in order to make my captors rich. I had no choice as the glass ended up being too thick for me to break and no one could understand me. That is until I noticed one guy. I was gliding past one of the windows that the humans watched me through when I noticed a man frowning on the other side. I stopped and looked at him with my head tilted. He tilted his head as well as if mimicking me and I swam to the surface. I could see him following me up to the top and when I broke through the water, he was standing there watching me. I swam towards the edge of the pool and he shook his head, obviously unhappy with how I was kept.

He returned every day to keep me company in my misery. Only he understood how upset I was at being trapped here. I enjoyed the company. He even started visiting after hours as he had gotten a job as a maintenance man at the park. From my tank I could watch him fiddling with the pipes and such in order to fix them for all the other tanks. He used this to his advantage and one night he stole away into my enclosure. He beckoned for me to come but I was still unsure about trusting humans. He had visited me every day but that didn’t necessarily mean that he wanted to help me. He could just be here to use me for his own way to make money.

I remained in the water and he held out a fish for me to come take. Hah, like I could be bribed so easily. He threw it to me and I ate it cautiously. We remained in a standoff for a long time and then I became tired and decided that I might as well see where he brought me. I carefully climbed out of the pool and stood before him, almost taller than him. He nodded and moved to the entrance of the enclosure motioning for me to go first.

Once out of the enclosure he guided me to the parking lot where he had a pickup truck waiting. I climbed in the back and he carefully laid a tarp over me. We started driving and based on my limited navigation skills from the bed of the truck, we were heading off towards the docks. At least so far he was being helpful to me. He had been kind enough to leave one spot for me to look through as we drove and so I watched the stars above.

At the docks, when the truck finally stopped, I could hear him arguing with a fisherman over a boat. Once they made a deal, the guy motioned for me to come. Still uneasy about boats due to my last experience, I was slow to get in. I watched the fisherman take the truck and the man sighed. He must have traded the truck for this boat and I started to warm up to him. He really cared about saving me.

He started the engine and we took off through the water. He looked at me for the direction and I motioned in the direction I believed my home to be. We didn’t speak but rather relax as the boat sped through the water. We were free. I let my paws and tail dip in the water and relished in the crisp ocean water which was so different from water I had been suffering in.

The man didn’t seem to mind that he had fled from his life to save me, in fact he seemed to be in no rush to get back to where we had left. He seemed just as eager as I did to put distance between us and the docks. I mean I guess he was now a criminal since he had broken me out but I sensed it was something else.

As we moved through the water, I could feel static in the air. I looked around and saw that we were coming up to a massive storm. I tried to warn the man but he wasn’t paying attention. I growled and sank low in the boat, nervous of the storm approaching and preparing for the worst. It hit us and he was thrown backwards in the boat. He franticly tried to regain control over the boat but the waves bashed us about until soon the boat turned up on its end and tossed us both into the water. I retook the boat and looked around for him. I couldn’t see him. He wasn’t resurfacing. I dove into the water and searched for him. There. He was struggling a few feet away. I grabbed him and pulled him back to the boat. I carefully helped him into the boat before climbing back in myself. I positioned myself so that I could help steady the boat against the waves and just waited for it to end.

After the storm I was soaking wet and exhausted but we were ok. The boat however had lost the engine when it flipped over so we were now floating without any means of getting anywhere. The man broke off the seat of the boat to use as a paddle and we were once again moving forward. He paddled for hours and I looked at him curious as to what he may be running from that he is this determined to get me home.

He dropped the paddle in the boat and fell asleep from exhaustion and I laughed slightly. He was trying so hard to help me. I slipped into the water and grabbed the boat to push it as I swam. I followed the sun and then the stars as they came up. I could recognize some of them now. I was getting close. I kept pushing the boat far into the night when I saw a patch of land in front of me. It was home.

I reached into the boat to wake the man and he stirred sleepily. He looked at me in the water and then turned to see the land I was motioning to. With a new surge strength, he helped me get the goat the last little bit that was required to beach the boat on the shore. I rolled in the sand glad to be home and then tackled the man in a hug to thank him for helping me.

He stayed. He remained on the island with me. Maybe he felt as home as I did on it.

Extra:
Of course I helped him settle into the island. We gathered driftwood to make a cabin for him right near my den and I collected fronds of the palms to help make a roof. The boat? That was hung in the cover of the trees to make a hammock like structure for me and him. Unable to understand him, I gave him the nickname Guardian. I don't know if he understood what it meant but he did respond to me calling him that. He called me something too. To me it sounded like Lily so I figured it went well enough with my actual name of Lilac.

Thank you all for your patience. My apologies for closing this contest a bit late! I was a bit busy last night, and it was a bit impossible for me to jump on to announce the closing of the contest at the correct time.

With that said, this contest is officially closed! Please do not edit your forms during this time ^^

I wish you all the best of luck! I'm excited to read through all of the finished forms. I'm hoping to get judging done by tonight, as long as nothing else comes up.

Thank you all for entering!
I had a guest judge help me choose the winner for this contest as I couldn't decide on which of the two forms should be deemed as the winner for this viscet ^^

First things first, I would like to announce the form who received an honorable mention:
Honorable Mention wrote:Muttgirl310
Your form was absolutely splendid and well written. I love the quote that you picked to explain Lilac's character, especially seeing that you also found a way to link it to the character she met in the story. I felt myself feel very happy to see what had happened to Lilac; while the forced journey at the start was terrifying, I was glad that she was able to make it back to her own home as her final destination.

Your form was also very pretty; the images that you chose to decorate the top and bottom half of your form were pleasing to the eye ^^
You can redeem this HM for one stub at the viscet stub shop! Please contact Razors to have the stubs added to the bank c-:

Next up is the winner of viscet #1693:

Similar to that of Muttgirl's form, I really did enjoy reading through your prompt answers for Ponderosa. Your story writing is solid, and I adore the nature themed quote you chose for him. There was a lot of solid character development happening throughout his story, especially at the end when he saves his human friend. I was glad to see that he was able to successfully realize what he was searching for this whole entire time, as it ended off on a real sweet note. While his physical journey wasn't over yet, his journey towards self realization of what he longed for was, and I thought that added a unique aspect to your form ^^

The extra writing was also pretty cute; I love how you included random tidbits about his character.

Once again, thank you all for entering. I wish you all the best of luck in any future competitions you all decide to enter ^o^
I hope you all have a fantastic week as well!
