Why so grumpy?|| To start off, Kathryn is the owner of a lovely meditation garden that's been in her family a very long time. While most mercats who visit are polite and respectful, daily there is at least one mercat who's an annoying demandy-pants who wants her to do everything for them. Kat can't drop everything to bow to one visitor's whims though, but she can't just kick them out, either. That would be rude, and she doesn't want to be rude. There are also mercats who create a mess and don't bother to clean up, and since Kat is the only one who actually is consistently there, she finds herself cleaning up everyone's messes. And don't get her started on the young merkittens who think it's a grand idea to use her meditation garden as a playground. She ends up chasing them out, but they seem to think it's all a game to her. It's not, it's really not. While Kat loves the meditation garden dearly, she's really really stressed out by running this place.
This is compounded by the fact that Kat is unfortunately very susceptible to headaches and migraines. This also runs in the family as her mother was prone to headaches as well. The stress of keeping her meditation garden a lovely place for visitors has only increased the headaches.
To top it all off, Kat just isn't a very cheerful person in the first place. It's hard work keeping up a cheerful facade for long hours of the day, and more often than not her mask of friendliness ends up slipping and she snaps at someone. Kat then ends up apologizing profusely because she didn't mean to be rude, but this only adds to her grumpy attitude when she isn't trying to fake being cheerful for her visitors.
