Easter desert: [400 words max] Hot Cross Buns. Not too sour and not too sweet, these traditional Easter rolls are perfect for family gatherings.
Among Illy's family, the mark of adulthood is being able to bring a home-cooked dish to one of the annual family gatherings. This Vec, however, is pretty terrible at cooking. The year she came of age, she attempted to make a few pot pies, and not only did she burn them to a crisp, she actually set the kitchen (and her tail) aflame. Even with help from her mother, she could barely make anything edible. At the gatherings she existed in a strange medial space- too old to play children's games yet not allowed the rights and honor of a full adult. Some of her more distant relatives even saw fit to shun and bully her. That is, until she discovered the recipe for traditional hot cross buns. There are very few ingredients and they're slow to burn, so even if she does leave them in the oven a bit too long, they still taste good. She still relies on help from her mother to make the cream cheese frosting that forms the cross, but eventually she hopes to make them entirely by herself. Now Illy brings them to every family gathering, and though it's a bit frowned upon to always bring the same thing, they know she's doing her best. Besides, the buns are too delicious for them to complain about.

easter dessert: Quince is a HUGE fan of sweets and can often be found making makeshift Easter baskets filled with homemade treats for a few of his closest friends. However, he can't help but take one (or two... or three...) for himself. One of his favorite Easter treats is a fake nest full of eggs, which is a combination of green, white, and brown chocolate melts, and shredded coconut for the nest. The eggs are just tiny speckled jellybeans used to represent eggs. Sometimes he also likes to include some mini marshmallows to satisfy his sweet tooth.
