Why does this Tolt have a extreme fascination with fireflies? Hotaru was born at dusk in a pasture. It was getting dark and the first stars were coming out. She looked up at her mom and in baby words said she wished she could play wih the stars. Suddenly these little gold lights starts flying about them looking like yellow blinking stars. They were fireflies! Hotaru slowly tried standing and after five tries she was standing and walking on wobbly knees. She nursed and felt stronger. She giggled as the fireflies around her danced. She told her mom she was so happy the stars came to play, but her mom said they were called fireflies. Ever since that day she has loved fireflies. She loves frolicking and racing with them. She adored the little bugs that lit up her world.

Hotaru's Poem for her friends;

Glowing specks dance by watery reflections
Fairy wings illuminate as twilight paints the world
Hotaru dances with her glowing friends

Jeweled colored leaves descend from the trees
While the moon shines full above
Caressing the world below

Glowing specks dance along the world below
Fairy wings illuminate as in the silvery mist of the moon
Hotaru plays with her glowing friends
Till at last their glow goes to sleep.
