Story:
Tigmo stuck his thick yet delicate head over the cold metal gate, his paddock companions grazed several meters behind him in the long grass, trying to find the few remaining strands of green that hadn't already shriveled up due to the hot summer sun. Never the less, the early morning was cool in the mountains and the sun was a pleasant factor to the icy morning and the rock solid ground was covered in frost due to the dropping temperatures the night before. But just like the weeks before, Tigmo knew that soon the sun would rise to it's peak and he would be dripping in sweat majorly due to it's intensifying power.
Summer in Australia was very different to the land that he had grown up in and this had taken him some time to get used to, the southern hemisphere was extremely opposite to his homeland in the northern reaches of Iceland. The flaxen liver chestnut stallion let out a sigh as he left his position and trotted to the trough, he was still waiting for his human to come see him. Tigmo didn't understand why it had been since the beginning of winter since he saw the girl, one day she gave him a hug and a kiss, got in a car and he hadn't seen her since. This had caused a slight depression in the stallion and he often moped around, for the first few weeks after he realized the girl wasn't coming back he refused to eat and stood motionless in the back corner of the paddock. It took time for Tigmo to come to terms and eventually started going back into his old habits of eating everything insight, as he was a rather fat fellow.
Unlike the humans who seemed to be extremely joyful on this particular day, Tigmo just saw it as another summer day where he would graze and sleep and maybe go for a swim in the dam with the other horses. Little did he know, they received news that their daughter, Tig's special human would be coming home the next day on this thing that they often called 'Boxing Day', what ever that may be.
The day had grown hot and humid, the heat from the sun had no mercy on the world's creatures. It could be described as some sort of predator which prayed on the weak, the old and the young, killing them with nothing but the sheer power of the heat it distributed violently with no second thoughts. The day felt long and tiring as if night would never succeed to fight away the light fueled heat. But it was a rather happy day for Tigmo, the other horses, the billy goat and the old Mule mare, they were given many sweet treats, a good hose down and a rather long brushing session which got all the itches and needs for more attention, always more attention out of their systems for a while.
The old man and his wife even took Tigmo and
Zoran out for a ride, which had been a rather rare occurrence in the past few months.
Maybe they missed riding wondered Tigmo several times as he dared not get too close to the rather grumpy Zoran and get a bite of a kick as punishment. "It feels good to ride again." smiled the old man, this made Tigmo feel proud of himself, he successfully managed to take care of the man for the hour or so they were out. Praise was a big thing that he loved, even is it was a simple pat, Tigmo would feel special and as if he had done something amazing for the first time in his life.
Ever so slowly did the day fade into an awkwardly warm night, not a light in the house flew through the window like a bird through the sky. It was quiet. It was oddly peaceful. Slowly the relived little stallion drifted off into a heavy sleep, his eyes drooped closed and his back left leg rested awkwardly behind the other. A pleasant dream filled the studs imagination: Tigmo galloped through the green field as if it were a film taken in slow motion, the ground was soft and gentle beneath his hoofs of steal that made a rhythmic
thud when he gracefully jumped any fence that appeared in his way. The pleasant sight of his girl standing at the fence caused him to go into a flowing and elegant canter, the smell of her apple scented hair and calming scent made him calm and relaxed. Life was good, life was quiet.
A sudden blast of light awoke the now panicked Tigmo who had been temporarily blinded as his sensitive eyes adjusted back to the darkness of the field. The metal beast rumbled and growled like a ferocious bear that he had encountered when he was just a few months old, it no longer flashed the bright lights that seemed to beam out from permanently open red, glass like eyes. In a blind panic, Tigmo moved away only to be chased by the beasts many companions and swallowed whole into it's cold and hard mouth. With a bump and a jolt, Tigmo was taken away. Taken away from the one place where his human could find him, the violently frightened stud called out desperately for any companion. A sharp corner sent him crashing into another small horse-like body, what was happening? What was this metal beast with the bright white lights that shot out of it's deep red eyes? Why did it rumble like a bear?
