Personality: when you first meet Livingston, you'll probably be surprised. scared, even. because this boy doesn't like newcomers. he'll snap and pin his ears and toss his golden head. the first couple rides on him will probably be a nightmare. has your horse ever managed to bite you at a canter? Livingston can. don't underestimate the power of the pintaloosa.

eventually, at maybe the fifth time riding him, you'll notice that putting the girth on is a bit easier. you're able to get the bit in, although it takes fifteen minutes. and when you're riding, he doesn't do his "lucky buck" when you start jumping. he's still a bit snappish and angry, but not as much. he's much more pleasureable to ride, especially because Livingston is a very talented horse. his gaits are smooth and he seems to float on his hooves. all he needs is to be a bit friendlier.

after you've been riding the amber stallion for perhaps half a year, you'll get to know the real him. it's a surprising revelation. Livingston's only ferocious because... he's loyal. fiercely, forever loyal and protective of those he loves. he takes great care with letting people touch him and only lets the ones he truly trusts close to him. he is devoted to his herdmates and feels very responsible for their well-being, so he doesn't take chances with outsiders. most riders quit riding him before they see this side of the stallion, but they missed out on having a great companion.

as I mentioned before, Livingston will do anything for his herd. he's the lead stallion but doesn't act mean unless he must. he gets along well with horses that respect him and can even be playful at times. he prefers the company of other males to mares, although he does like having a lady friend or two. or more, since he is the lead stallion. all of Livingston's herd look up to him and trust him completely, which is why he feels so responsible.
all you have to do is give this horse a chance and he'll love you forever, basically.
