Task One - First Meeting
I was so excited, honestly I think I was jumping up and down in my seat the whole way from my home. After what seemed like an endless journey, I was finally here and about to meet the soon-to-be latest addition to the herd. Izanagi asked if I was ready and after a failed attempt to speak I just nodded. He led me to a small field, where I guessed everyone else had had their yearlings brought out to them, and there he was. Holding back a gasp I ran up to the fence, but not too quickly so that I wouldn't spook him. He was simply stunning as he grazed, occasionally flicking his tail to send the flies away. I stood there in silence for a long while as I simply observed him, completely awestruck. He looked up as if he had just noticed me, his green eyes meeting mine, pretending to judge me even though I had seen him watching me from the corner of his eye. I grabbed a sugar cube from my pocket and held it out to him. Tentatively, having smelled the air, he took a a step forward and then another before he finally caved and came up to snuffle the cube out of my hand. I giggled as he finished it and then looked at me expectantly for more. When I didn't deliver, he turned and trotted away to return to the patch of grass he had been eating.
We carried on like this for a long time with me sitting on the fence and watching him for a while before offering him another cube which he ate and left again. Once I felt like we had developed a bond of some sort, I jumped off of the fence and approached him in the field. It took several tries as he kept snorting and moving away from me, but eventually I managed to get him to come up to me instead by sitting on the floor and using a bit of classic bribery. Once I felt his lips trying to get at the sugar cube in my closed fist, I slowly turned around so that I was facing him. I opened my hand and slowly stood up so that he could reach at the cube better. While he ate it, I reached forward and placed a hand on pink nose. He jumped slightly but didn't run away. I started to speak to him, introducing myself to him and telling him how beautiful was.
As soon as he heard my voice he instantly seemed to relax and he stopped swishing his tail, but when I stopped talking he started to rub his head against me. This ceased when I started to talk again. As an experiment I continued to start and stop talking and every time there was silence he would do something to fill the gap, such as tail swishing. I came to the conclusion that he was scared of silence and was willing to do almost anything to prevent it. The rest of that day was spent in the field, just playing with him and talking to him and cuddling him. One could say it was love at first sight.
Task Two - Taking Home
Seoul wants you to let her know what the ride home was like, and how unloading them went.
Task Three - Settling In
She also wants you to let her know about any friends your yearling might have made at your stables.
Task Four - Halter Breaking
I think I'm more interested in this than Seoul is, I'd love to know how halter breaking your yearling went! Maybe I could
tell you about the time I first halter broke my own horse!
Task Five - Green Breaking
(all tack or break it into steps) Seoul would be interested in knowing how the general breaking of your yearling went. Let her know how you introduced the tack to your Gypsy.
Task Six - Green Breaking with Rider
Seoul wouldn't mind at all if you let her know how it went once you mounted your Gypsy for the first time. Actually, everyone over at the official barn is curiously, let us know!
Task Seven - First Training
Let us know how and what you did with their first training lesson. Did you just go over basics, or did you jump right into getting them to learn their picked discipline?
Task Eight - ???
So for this one just let us know something fun you and you yearling did. Or maybe your yearling wants to let us know how the whole going to a knew home went?
