GhiaccioStory;
"mommy this is yummy!" said young Kodi to Ghiaccio, her mother. It was getting close to Christmas so, by tradition, Kodi helped her mother bake the Italian treats that everyone loved. They would turn on their carols, and dance to their favorite songs. It was getting late, but Kodi's mother only just got home from work, so the young vincent was allowed a little more time with her mom. Just as Kodi started to yawn, Ghiaccio gave a gentle smile and started to nudge Kodi towards her room. Kodi happily obliged until she heard gunshots. That woke up both mother and daughter. Ghiaccio looked down at her young daughter before getting shot in the side. "Run Kodiak! Run!" the injured mother yelled. Whimpering, Kodi did what she was told and hadnt seen her mother since.-4 months later-
Jolting awake from the memory, Kodi yawned and stretched. Kodi hadnt traveled far from her old home, in the hopes her mother would come looking for her. Standing up, the lone vincent scanned her makeshift home. It was a cave with all the knick-knacks she had collected over these months. She grabbed her satchel, the one that had belonged to her mother, and emptied it. Kodi shouldered the small, brown, weathered satchel and started out the door. This was her normal routine, get up, go out, scavenge for food or trinkets, come home, go to bed and do it all again. She would pick up what she called 'fast food for lunch which was anything she could find during the day. But this day was different. Kodi picked up a sweet smelling, familiar scent that she just couldnt put her paw on. Following it anyways, the smell lead her away from the town to a small bakery with a cottage beside it. Walking in, there was a little 'ding ding' of a bell. The inside was cozy and homey, with little round tables and a glass display case.
"hello how may i help you?" comes a soft voice from the back. Kodi continues to look around for the voice before determining it out of sight.
"Uhh no im just looking" she said, looking at all the desserts. She peeked into her empty satchel before sighing and heading for the door.
"Wait do you want something?" the voice came again, before the vincent that the voice belonged to walked out.
"Uhh no thanks i dont have anything to pay you with." Kodi replied.
"Well here," the vincent pulled out a pastry out of the display case and holding it out to Kodi,
"im sure Ghiaccio wont mind me giving you this" Kodi takes the pastry in shock.
"Is Ghiaccio the owner?" she finally asked, earning a nod from the employee.
"Where is she now?" Kodi asked the vincent.
"Out shopping" the vincent wiped down the counters as they talked.
"Ok...ok thank you! thanks!" Kodi rushed out the door, putting the pastry in her bag. Running into the town, she scanned the faces, looking for her mother. Kodi finally gave up after the sunset, sliding her back down the wall, defeated.
"Why are you crying?" a gentle voice asked. Looking up, Kodi saw a hooded figure holding a basket full of food.
"Um n-no reason" she replied, wiping her eyes, standing up.
"whats your name young one?" the hooded vincent asked.
"Kodiak." Kodi replied. The female vincent suddenly pulled down her hood, revealing a blindingly white fur.
"Kodi?" the white vincent asked.
"Y-yes?" she said, sensing something about this vincent.
"i am Ghiaccio. your mother" Kodi lunged at her and bear hugged her.
"Mom! Your ok!" she exclaimed. Laughing a little, Ghiaccio hugged her daughter back.
"Well i couldnt leave you" Ghiaccio said softly.
"How did you find me?" Kodi's mother asked, standing up with her daughter.
"I came across a familiar Italian bakery which played Christmas music" -next Christmas-
The mother and daughter had been united and Kodi moved herself into Ghiaccio's cottage to help co-own the bakery. Kodi still collected her trinkets but she left them all in her old 'house'. This Christmas, the small family closed the bakery early and went caroling, coming home and turning on their music. They baked all of the Italian treats everyone loves.
