I'm so sorry to do this! But I've been playing with this fiery dino lady's concept for a while and now that school's finally out and I've finished up some of my responsibilities I just had to finish & post her. (the timer/sessions are off I just kept opening and closing this bc I'm indecisive oops)
Her name is Quarrel, and she's loosely based off an anchiornis with some other dinosaur-esque traits. She's a feisty and capricious pirate whose real thoughts can be hard to discern; she likes to play devil's advocate and stir up trouble. She spends her time cultivating plants when she's not plaguing the seas with her ever-shifting crew. (Said crew includes a very unwilling and often seasick magician who bears a particular grudge for her.)
I'm rlly excited about her and I'll definitely be looking for plumes to interact with her/join her crew/etc! ♥
She claims to trust said crew with her life, but none of them are quite sure if she's being utterly earnest or wickedly sarcastic. This confusion is mainly due to her quick temper -- her crew mates don't always stick around for long. Getting on her bad side isn't advisable if they wish to keep their job and not be curtly dumped off at the nearest port. Despite the volatile nature of remaining in her employment, however, many down on their luck seek her out because of the enormous amounts of wealth she and her crew "earn". Quarrel loves anything shiny or valuable, but she accrues her wealth for reasons largely unknown and spends it just as mysteriously. A significant portion of her budget, however, goes towards new ships; approaching or luring in a target ship without causing alarm would be far more difficult if her boat was recognizable, so she swaps ships frequently. (When she's feeling too impatient to purchase one, she'll often "borrow" any ship left within her reach). Whatever ship she's currently captaining, though, she calls the Ariskóva.
She has no qualms with using violence to protect herself or her crew, or to turn a profit, but she doesn't get any pleasure from harming innocents. Passengers on the ships she ransacks can often bribe or reason their way into safe passage to the next port the Ariskóva reaches.
Quarrel enjoys the freedom and independence her job affords her, and loves traveling to new places and experiencing new things. Her burning curiosity gets her into all sorts of trouble and leads her to hire and give passage to a motley variety of strangers in the hope of learning interesting things from them. But while surrounding herself with strangers may pay off in terms of broadening her horizons, it also means that her crew's trust and loyalty can't always be counted on. Despite this, she tends to appear oddly at-ease and trusting of them, and rarely behaves with as much paranoia as one might expect, given her occupation. This is not to say that Quarrel is gullible or naive; it's more that she's fully aware of her ability to hold her own should someone try to turn against her, and realizes that distrusting everyone without cause is a fruitless and exhausting endeavor.
