【"Here Under The Stars, This Is My Kingdom"】
"My home was beautiful, located in the mountains of Germany I was shrouded in silks, jewels, and all that glory of never having a fear of being without what you wanted," Kane chuckled setting a crystal cut glass of cocoa aside. "My father was one of many titles and a long line of royalty. He'd never known what life was like without everything being handed to him," Kane continued a shadow of a smile casting onto pale lips.
Somewhere within the massive room were white silk drapes danced on a summer breeze and a crystal chandelier hung, each carefully crafted piece being caressed with warmth. The silence was not a silence the occupants of the room desired to break, fearful that it would never return to such a tranquil state yet Kane continued on after a soft hum. "You see though my mother...Now she was from South America originally before she'd been adopted by Americans in which she'd been raised in Fort Myers, Florida. There was nothing special about her I might say, she had no wealth, no inheritance, and not a clue about politics," he spoke, a certain tenderness in his voice as he spoke of his mother that gave away to deep sadness locked in soulful eyes. "Please excuse me for a moment," Kane dipped his head and stood.
He hid a type of pain that after so long many forget is still there, buried under layers of lies and the cruel reality of being pushed forward. Everything had been placed in his hands, all the money he would need, yet there was not the companionship in which he seemed, only close acquaintances and the journalist sitting before him. By now the sun had begun to sink behind the rolling hills and stars peaked out from the darkening ocean of emptiness. "Maybe you should get some rest, we have plenty of time to talk tomorrow," Kane said softly as he turned around to face the two journalists seated still. "You are after all here for several more days to tour my lovely estate."
Showing the two women to the guest house off the left of the courtyard, Kane left them in the hands of Douglas, an older man whom had serviced his father years before. Adjusting the collar of his dress shirt, Kane turned on his heel heading towards his home, the mansion seeming so empty from outside to his eyes. Sure it was filled with staff of his, all of which he could speak to, yet they were not what Kane could consider friends, nor family. Running a quick hand through his hair Kane returned to the illuminated home making his way to his bedroom.
【"Make A Wish, It Might Come True"】
Once his interviews with the two journalists had come to an end, Kane found himself even lonely than before. Slipping onto his balcony, Kane seated himself and peered out over his estate, focusing the most on the garden down below, a maze of hedges and a painting of bright flowers. "Ah mamma would you be proud of me? A man of wealth and have my name an everything? God do I wish you hadn't left me so early, you and pa...Both of two different worlds. I just wanted to know more of yours," he whispered.
Kane had once dreamed of living a simplistic life like that of his mother's, yet instead had lost her too early and fell into the world of wealth that his father lived, not having much of a choice once he had perished as well only two years later. The crown of his father had been passed over to his aunt, while Kane had been given a large portion of money. This is what he'd done with it, a giant estate in the Rockies with a life of fame. "I'm a man everyone wants me. To tell them they're my world...But mamma I'm not like that, I want to fall in love for the person," he whispered. Often he'd go for long hours right where he sat now looking down at the garden and talking to the spirit of his mother, yet within a few moments that was interrupted by a stark contrast against dark green hedges.
Someone stood along a line of peach tinted roses, a simple baseball cap covering the stranger's face. Kane could easily call for a guard to take down the intruder, yet Kane was sick of a scripted life and a small sense of adventure washed over him. Ducking back into his room, he pulled his hair into a small ponytail to keep it from his face.
