Well, some of the first lyrics are, "In the woods, I find peace." To any of you lovelies who have been to or live on the West Coast of Canada like me, you know how many forest trails there are. It is a rain forest, after all. Although a cold one, with needly pine trees and cedars instead of tropical plants. But as cliche as it is for a Canadian to like nature, I love it. although it's probably a twenty minute walk to the nearest large forest, I love walking through them, aha. Soon after that it says, "I’m covered in needles, and I’m coloured in grace." Well. Honestly, the forest ground here is probably 90% needles from the trees around here, and my backyard if literally covered in a thick blanket of them. And it's insanely fun to hop through the bushes and climb boulders in the forest here, because who likes sticking to the trails? Not me, at least. Then there's "Where the pirates won’t find me, no the pirates won’t find me, no they won’t lay eyes on me." And honestly any kid who's ever been in a forest knows that it's an amazing hiding spot, for whatever reason you might be hiding. Me and my sister used to play hide-and-go-seek in a forest at my elementary school in a place further south, near the border, where we used to live. "Under foot, root piles map the way to frozen letters, under pine cones in ice." Well, tbh the most annoying ( but still very beautiful ) part of the forest is the root trails everywhere. When you have 350 ft tall trees everywhere you look, sometimes with trunks as wide as 20 ft or more, they're gonna have big roots. Really big roots. Tripping on them hurts like hell, but when you actually mean to step on them, it can be fun to follow them like weird little maps. And ahahaha, aha. Haha. Ha. Canada has a lot of ice in the winter, so. We also live in igloos and ride polar bears to school! Next is "I’m varnished in maple." We live and thrive off of maple syrup up here, it's the only thing we ever eat. But seriously, even though I don't like it that much, maple syrup-dipped snow is probably as Canadian as it gets, and I will admit pretty yummy.
