Name: Stephen
Gender: Male
Their Eyes?:
Stephen is colourblind, like a real dog. He can't see the true color of things, just a few grays, whites, blacks and other shades of gray. But he was born with it, so it's basically normal. But he usually has to asks people what colour certain things are. He usually is fine with it, but lately it has been getting agitating.
Since he came out with the truth that he is colourblind, people have been too forgiving or rude to him. And, being a scammer and pickpocketer, he hates it. He doesn't feel as feared or strong anymore, now that people are saying things such as, "Are you OK?" or "This colour is purple."
He hates it.

But he also uses it to his advantage. Since his eyes are gleaming and are like a puppies, he uses a certain charm he likes to call "Puppy Eyes." As a scammer and pickpocketer, he uses them to his advantage, finding a way to charm people with his eyes and then pickpocketing them or even scamming them. Its helpful, sometimes.

"He's not normal."

It was the first sentence that Canopy had heard upon breaking out of his shell. Though he was still young, the words stung like fire. Surely he was as normal as any other Viscet? He made a noise of complaint and kicked out of his shell, spilling out onto the straw laid on the ground. He pouted and began to wail. He couldn't seem to get to his paws. His parents seemed to hesitate before his father brought him to his feet, sighing softly.

"He's my son - he will do just fine with the others," the larger male told the female, who only seemed to be distraught over the matter. "He's different, but that makes him unique."

"Those eyes haven't been in the family for generations. Last they were heard of was before the War against the Kesso Clan. The pack was wiped out and their genes haven't been in the family for years. What is our son doing with those very eyes?!" The female's nostrils flared with fury, beginning to pace the den.

Canopy squeaked as his father sat him down, kicking aside the egg gently. Why were his parents so worried? He tried to get their attention, but he couldn't go very far as he plopped down onto the straw again.

His mother shook her head, her tail lashing side to side. "He can't live with those eyes. He cannot be the heir to the Kesso Clan." Her mate frowned and went up to her, wrapping his tail around hers to steady it from hitting their newborn.

"He will not be any heir of any clan but our own. When he is old enough to take the throne, he will make the decision himself. For now, we need to raise our son." The two exchanged long glances before the female sighed and walked over to the small Viscet, leaning down to see him better.

Canopy was happy that he was finally getting attention, and he balanced slightly on his back legs to place his front paws on his mother's muzzle. He made a few happy noises, his tail wagging slightly as he gazed deeply into her eyes. Even though she was still unsure about him, he would prove her wrong one day.

~~~~~~~~
"Mother, what's the Kesso Clan?" Teenage Canopy asked his mother, walking beside her as they were fetching food for the pack. It was just them, since the other group was stalking a herd of cows that had been spotted the day before.
The female sighed and was quiet for a while, though some nudging from her son finally got her talking. "They were a very valiant pack of viscets. Nothing could stand in their way of protecting what they loved. But they had a wicked way of taking what they wanted, destroying families and homes just so they could have it themselves." Her feathers ruffled anxiously. "They were feared by everyone. They had the same eyes as you do, Canopy." She turned to look at him, her gaze deep and confused.
Canopy blinked and tilted his head slightly. "Why do I have them? And why does it matter that I have their eyes? I bet there's lots of other viscets with the same eyes as I do."
His mother shook her head. "Only you have them now. The entire pack was killed during the War. But your father or I must have had ancestors within the clan. Or, it was a secret mating." She trotted faster, her son struggling to keep up with his teen legs. "Anyone with the eyes now is the rightful leader of the clan. Refusing it would be a break of heritage and code." Her tone seemed to warn something unknown.
Canopy frowned, gazing at the ground as they went. Leader of the Clan? He wasn't entirely sure if he could even lead a pack. But his father had helped him understand how their pack had done so well, so maybe it wasn't that hard. Though, if his children never passed it on, the new Kesso Clan could fade away, and he would have worked for nothing. "I'll keep that in mind, mother," he replied, and the two honed their senses on finding food for the day.
~~~~~~~~

Canopy sat on top of the den, his feathers ruffling in the breeze that flew by. He gazed over the area that his father valiantly ruled over, the pack that he had spent years on raising and protecting. He sighed, glancing down to where he could hear the whimpers of his younger brother. He knew his brother would be a good leader to the pack. But for himself, he knew this was no longer his home. The wind was shifting, and his home was somewhere beyond the mountains, a heritage he was linked to that he needed to connect with.

He felt a bigger presence before he heard it, and he turned his head to see his father approach. Though his father was old, his fur still continued to gleam in the light, silver specks beginning to appear on his muzzle and around his fur. He was surprised how powerful his father had continued to be after all these years.

After a few moments of silence, and gazing over the valley, the larger male decided to speak. "When are you leaving?" he asked, leaving Canopy to stare at him with wonder. But the male didn't seem to be kidding.

Canopy frowned, his ears lowering. "Is it that obvious?" Without waiting for an answer, he shook his head. "I'm taking Rin in a few hours." Knowing his cousin wouldn't want to be left behind, he decided to bring her along. She could help his journey be less lonely. He turned to his father, seeing the disappointment in his eyes. But he had to go, had to claim the long-empty throne of his clan.

"You will be missed, and we can't visit as often with your younger brother." Canopy's father set a paw on his son's shoulder. "But you belong in the Kesso Clan. It's been your fate ever since you were born with your eyes." He leaned forward and gave a quick nuzzle to his ear. "You'll lead a good pack, son."

Canopy gave him a small smile. "Thanks, dad." The two then spent the next few hours of their time, enjoying each other's company before he had to leave on a journey he may never return from.

Name: Risk Riscott (his first name is very complex and he would prefer to not try to explain it)
Gender: Male
Extra;

Risk has always been seen as gangly, uncool, and awkward to the "Cool kids". His friends and family know his as one of the most amazing people on earth, dealing with the crap people push onto him and moving on. He never holds grudges but he's known to remember things vividly when it affects him heavily. His young adolescent life was spent ignoring his bullies and bonding with the people that saw through the profile the "cool kids" painted of him.

As Risk grew older and matured well, his experience with defending himself and guarding his loved ones gave him a lean musculature. His eyes had finally settled on a more cemented dark yellow accented with an even shadowier gold tone. When people notice the strangely beautiful color of his eyes they double take, and generally they gawk wordlessly unless they're bold enough to tell him their opinion. Risk isn't sure why it really matters what his eye color is, he's always been proud of his self-control and how much he had improved himself over the years. So with that he understood that those that only saw his eye color weren't meant to be taken seriously... he learned to appreciate the people that appreciate what he actually did. His focused eye when it came to an abstract view of the world gave him the ability to draw what he saw rather well and rather quick.

-------------

Risk growled angrily at Bronto, the large grey and white viscet was a pack favorite, one who was a burly and popular teacher's pet. Risk couldn't stand the higher up's turning a blind eye to his best friend being beaten down day after day. And the only reason Risk hadn't confronted Bronto earlier was because he wasn't sure Sean wanted him to intervene.
Risk lashed his thick, muscular tail angrily. The fur on his tail tip rustled loudly, almost menacingly as it scraped the pavement underneath his rough paw pads. Bronto was an ugly sucker when he wasn't calm, suave, and collected. His face an untrained grimace, the muscle usually used to fake a smile now turned down, rippled skin and fur in a mess. Risk chuckled, anger still burning in his eyes as he lunged in for an attack, his arms reaching forward to swat Bronto's nose and stun him. Bronto was smacked squarly, stumbling back half a step before blindly striking towards Risk, contacting his wiry shoulder with a thump. Risk clenched his teeth and used his stricken shoulder to shove Bronto back, knocking him to the floor after a rapid succession of charges. Bronto obviously wasn't experienced with fighting, his groans and spasming muscles. Risk was sad it had come to this, it had come to him having to shame Bronto and beat him. But Risk couldn't stand by and let his best friend get harassed by someone that didn't deserve his worry.
Risk's eyes burned with a pale yellow fire, warning the others around the two males to back off. Scaring them into submission before kicking Bronto's hefty body to the side a couple of inches, and marching out of the ring of viscets. They all gawked dumbly, tails curled around their legs protectively as he passed them by.

LATER

Risk frowned, shoulder flaring in pain, knuckles bruised by his opponent's jaw. He looked into Sean's eyes with confusion," How can you just assume I would let him go? He was abusing you, you were afraid of him finding you after the tracking parties! I can't let you live in fear like that. I won't stand for someone forcing you to give them your sanity by force. It's one thing to be worried, it's another to be afraid.", Risk stood from his resting crouch, pacing in front of Sean. My best friend, my brother, is afraid of people coming after him after that? He obviously wasn't a witness. They cowered. "Look Sean, wait until you go and face the pack. Before you are more afraid, wait. You will see that you are safe now.", Risk's eyes burned with passion, the knowledge that Sean was out of harm's way and that he was alright. His heart thundered and revved in his chest, proud of himself for not beating Bronto without mercy, for leaving the rest of his punishment to Sean and the pack council. He smiled wide, a toothy grin and burning pale gold eyes shining like stars.

(eyes being unique and just stunning, nothing super-powered, just unseen beauty that bloomed late)

“It’s hatching! Davi, it’s hatching!” A small viscet sat eagerly beside an egg, waving her mate over. She studied the egg, watching it tremble slightly. It was speckled with brown, with one large olive green spot. “That’s what colour his eyes would be,” she’d say to her mate, “just like yours.” Soon, a larger viscet trotted over followed by a red-haired woman.

“Calm down, Abby,” Davi chided, plopping down beside his mate. They looked on keenly as the shell cracked, then again and again. It tipped over, smashing the rest of the egg.

“Aww...” The human whispered, reaching over to pick up the viscling. She held him in her arms like a baby, looking him over.
“His name... Is Kaleb.” Abby smiled, commenting that her child looks like a small puppy. She licked Kaleb’s chest lightly, watching his small chest rise and fall.

“Wait...” Davi blurted, “his eyes. Look at them.” Both Abby and the human took a glance at the viscling’s face, both with an expression of horror. The viscling had empty sockets in place of his eyes, only somewhat hidden by his closed eyelids. The human stood up, running out the door. The viscets followed, somehow knowing what to do. They were going to the local veterinarian, hoping he’d know what to do. The car took off, and in 5 minutes flat, the arrived at the doorstep. The vet suggested one solution for this, nothing else. Kaleb would have to get an eye transplant. However, they couldn’t afford to have a pair sent over. Kaleb wouldn’t survive without eyes, and it would take forever.

“We’ll have to do use someone here,” he suggested, sympathy clearly present in his eyes. “I’ll do it,” Davi said, stepping up.

“No!” Abby objected, grabbing onto her mate, “You can’t!”

Davi sighed. “I have to,” he asserted. He faced the vet, giving him a nod. He turned back to Abby, taking a thin metal chain off his neck. “Give this-” he placed the silver necklace in her paws, “when he grows up, okay?” Abby nodded, giving her mate one last hug.

~#~

“Your eyes look just like your father’s,” they’d always say. “He’d be proud of you if he were here.”

I never fully understood what they meant by that. Not until now. I had gone up to my mother to ask her about this. She originally tried to avoid the topic, switching it to something else. She gave up; I guess my convincing skills were greater than I thought they were. Then, she told me everything. How I was born with no eyes. How my father, Davi, gave himself up for me. How he didn’t survive the surgery. I was told everything. Then she gave me this. A metal chain with a gemstone pendant. It was made of solid jade, carved into the shape of a claw. It had something written on it, I couldn’t make it out. I doubt my father could either. Of course, I put it on. It was just a pendant. But I felt as if it had Davi’s soul in it, that even though he was dead, he was still with me.

“You really are like your dad, y’know,” my mom would say after that. And I appreciated it.

Romeo is is a poet; a writer of the unknown, the keeper of the pages. He loves to write, but has found that writing things like stories is to much work for him. you see; Romeo has attention deficit disorder- meaning that he has a hard time staying focused for long periods of time, and writing poems- which are short and sweet are just his style. Romeo is very creative and emotion, he loves to express himself in many ways like his dorky glasses and red knitted scarf. Poetry has always spoken to him in a deep way; he loves writing about just about anything but will keep his pages to himself most of the time as he is shy and self conchas. but perhaps the most interesting thing about Romeo isn't his wonderful talent of writing and rhyming; but how he manages to catch all the beauty in the world through his bright Protanopia color blind eyes. this simply means that Romeo can't see reds and in there place reds look more like a brown. though his colors that he sees might all look like a washed away and faded picture, this doesn't stop Romeo from seeing the bright and luminous colors in his mind; and that's all he needs to write about them.

Name: Raya Matumaini [ray-yuh mon-toom-mi-u-ani]
--Name Meaning: Swahili for "Ray of Hope" with slightly tweaked spelling
Gender: Female
Extra:
--History:
-----Raya and Brando gazed up into the night sky, neither minding the light mist that fell on their dense coats. As they watched the clouds break and re-form, their minds wandered aimlessly, drifting through past years. Interestingly enough, they were both reminiscing about their first meeting...
_______

-----Brando smiled as he walked into the bedroom alongside his master, Cal; Raya was already curled up in the bed by the window. Naturally, she was right in the middle. "Good night cutie," Cal whispered, gently scratching behind the baby Viscet's ear. Brando's ears twitched at her voice as he gingerly stepped into the bed, maneuvering around until he could lay along the edge, careful not to disturb the peaceful, small brown fluff-ball. Cal smiled and rubbed her finger along the bridge of his nose, "'Night boy." She whispered, before standing and climbing into her own bed. Brando gazed lovingly at the little Viscet beside him and smiled as he remembered their first encounter...
_______

-----Brando walked along the faint trail through the woods, closing his eyes and lifting his nose at a breeze. He loved walking through the woods at the back of the house in the evening, the weather was perfect and there was a small clearing where he could watch the clouds blow past as he waited for the stars. He'd gotten out a little late this evening, but it was still light enough for him to see. Not that he'd run into anything, he was in these woods so often he knew where most of the "hazards" were. Finally reaching the clearing, Brando settled in the grass and gazed upward.
-----Just as the last of the light began to fade and the stars began to peek through the pinkish haze, a strange noise caught the Viscet's attention. He perked his ears and stiffened, ready to spring into action. After a few moments he heard it again; it almost sounded like a fearful cry. Instinct took over and he got up, cautiously moving toward the edge of the clearing and the sound. He sniffed at the air and caught the scent of something faintly familiar - another Viscet. His ears swiveled back defensively as he peered around a bush at the treeline. The breath he'd been holding escaped as a sigh of relief when he saw a small ball of fluff curled up under the edge of the bush, shivering. "Hey there, little one. What are you doing out here all alone?" He asked gently, lowering his upper half to seem less threatening. "I-I don't know..." The baby replied weakly. "Well c'mon, let's get you out of this cold." Brando said, carefully picking her up by the scruff.
_______

-----"Hey bud, you're back early..." Cal called as she heard the familiar -smack- of the Viscet-door, turning around from dicing strawberries. Her eyes widened as she saw why Brando had come in so early. "Oh, my..." She breathed, putting the knife down and snatching the kitchen towel. "Put her down," Cal said; gently wrapping the edges of the towel around the shivering baby Viscet. After a few minutes, the baby relaxed and looked around. Cal grinned, "Have you been sneaking off in the middle of the night and getting into trouble? Her eyes are almost identical to yours." She commented, playfully ruffling Brando's ears. Brando nudged the baby encouragingly and she got up, shaking the towel off before yawning as she sat down. She gazed up at Cal for a moment, then sniffed at the air and fixed her two-tone green eyes on the strawberry at the edge of the counter, Brando copied her, making Cal chuckle.
-----"You're going to need a name, little one." Cal whispered as she stroked the soft, fluffy fur. The little Viscet could care less of what was being said, there were strawberries in front of her! Strawberries! Brando had only eaten one from his pile, then pushed the rest in front of his rescue with his nose, smiling as she eagerly pounced at them. "What about Raya Matumaini? Our little Ray of Hope..." Cal asked, looking up at her loving brown fur-ball. Brando perked his ears and waged his tail approvingly. "It's settled then. Welcome home, little Raya." Cal said, scooping the little Viscet up as she yawned contentedly, snuggling into Cal's arms and promptly falling asleep.
