oh my mother of blossoms this child is simply beautiful
I'm Chinese, and this is great! Chinese New Year is always a fun occasion and I'm glad to see it being acknowledged!
small note: ❀ history ❀ and lai see: are both based off of true stories about my father when he immigrated to America.

name;
Yǔmáo Huā
( 羽毛花 )
means "feather blossom" in traditional Chinese
most call her Huā for short, though
❀
gender;
demigirl
❀
orientation;
panromantic graysexual
❀
mate;
Huā, atm, is flying solo, although if I do win her, I won't turn down anyone.
zodiac;
dragon:
| confident | intelligent | romantic |
| hotheaded | courageous |
The dragon is typically lively, intellectual, and easily excited, which is almost exactly Huā. She is always bouncing around, and continually moving onto the next thing. Huā, unfortunately, hardly ever stops and smells the roses. She is incredibly impatient. She's the last person you'd want to go to a movie with. As for being excitable, well, she once started screaming in joy when she stepped on a bug and discovered it was alive. Huā isn't the brightest person around, but she's got enough common sense. She is a very very traditional person, and does not like to change her views on the world. Her beliefs and her views on politics, equality, and basically anything controversial are pretty much the only thing she never budges on. Most things she sees are in clear black and white. To Huā, nearly everything can be classed as evil or good, similar to the way many dragon zodiacs see the world. Huā likes to outdo herself, and often makes a fool of herself by doing so. One good thing that comes out of her being a dragon is that she is very, very skilled in the area of romance. Huā can be very charasmatic when she really tries. She can coax someone to do most anything within reasonable measures. Huā would make a great door to door salesperson, but she sadly hardly ever embraces this skill. She claims it is "being untruthful" and "cheating." Unlike the dragon zodiac, however, Huā mixes well with all signs but the dog. She says the dog zodiac is unintelligent due to their faithfulness and inability to move on. At least, that's what she says, but I personally think she's just jealous. Huā loves animals, but she is not good with them.

favorite tradition;
lai see:
| good luck | fortune | wealth |
( this is based off of my father, who is Chinese, and his story when he first came to America. )
The lai see, as you may know from other forms, is a red envelope with money inside, given to children as a form of good luck. Lai see is pronounced like li-CEE. It means "lucky packets" in Cantonese, Huā's native language. Red is known for good luck, fortune, and wealth in many Asian countries.
Every year, on the second day of the Moon Calendar, Huā used to collect these packets and hope for the best. She lived in a large apartment building, with maybe 90 or so occupied rooms. The Chinese New Year was for Huā as Halloween was for you or I. She would go around the different apartments, ring the doorbells, and she and her siblings would chant "gong hei fat choi!" Happy New Year, get rich! was their chant. If the year had been prosperous and the family had good fortune, they would be decked out in beautiful red garments.The neighbor would then smile and hand them all a lai see and know that later on, they would be eagerly tearing apart the small envelopes to reveal the contents inside. If you were very lucky, you could get a two dollar bill. The spoils could add up anywhere from 60 to 90 dollars! The feeling of paper passing hands and the rush of indescribable feelings were just that- indescribable. However, most of the time, it would disappear into the hands of Ma, their mother. It was all very exciting, and it is a long time until you are too old to do it. The lai see was an enormous factor in Huā's childhood, and she will get teary just over the mention of the small red envelopes.
Sometimes, Huā will remember the good old days, and hear the chants of "gong hei fat choi" echo in her ears once more.

extras;
❀ likes ❀
Huā enjoys cooking, gardening, and Feng Shui. She also can't turn down any of the Five Arts of Chinese Metaphysics. Huā loves any medicine related science. She will do almost anything for some good seafood. Huā thinks that ferrets are positively adorable. cEREAL. SHE LOVES CEREAL SO MUCH OHMYGOD.
❀ dislikes ❀
Huā absolutely dispises spinach. Ech. She also hates all kinds of bugs. Huā's terrified of spiders and has very extreme claustrophobia.
❀ why I think I should win Huā ❀
I think I should win Huā because i put a lot of effort into my form. I didn't just copy and paste from some website, but I write from personal experience. In Huā's story there is some of mine, and that's why I think my form is unique. I'm not the best artist or writer, but I do put my heart into it, and I think that has a little merit, at least. I would so much love for her to be my first Viscet.
( hey it sounds cheesy, but it works )
❀ history ❀
Huā's mother was pregnant with her in China during a war, and they had to travel to Vietnam. However, her father died on the journey. After Huā was born in Vietnam, in the apartment, it was decided that it was no longer safe because Vietnam had entered the war as well. So, the family took a boat to America, where they would finally be safe. They moved into a small cabin at the edge of the woods. Now, Huā has built her own house in the woods and resides there.
