“My mom is my best friend, and my worst enemy. I know she’ll always be there for me through everything, but I also know that when I fall, she’s sometimes the one that pushes me. For one, she doesn’t seem to have much of a filter at all. If I’m being a brat, she lets me know quickly. She always tells me that “she doesn’t have time for my attitude,” but Rosella is much worse. Although this doesn't have any long term effects to my self-esteem, it's definitely aggravating in the moment. My mom also loves to have fun, and sometime acts even younger than I am (much to my embarrassment). Our favorite thing to do is go to amusement parks together, because we can both act wild and have a great time. She also makes sure that I always have what I need to succeed- whether it be something tangible or just a pep talk, she’s always there without me even having to tell her. To me, this is her best quality. She always encourages everyone to do their best- whether it be me or a neighbor down the block, she always has advice and a hug to give away. This is one of only many ways she’s generous. In my opinion, I think I have the best mom ever. She’s very balanced and well-rounded… I only hope to someday be as great a Viscet as she.”

Oscar can really look up to his mother, as she has a pure heart and encourages him on, even if he has lost all hope. However this sometimes can annoy him, because often he just wants to leave something for a while, and come back to it when he feels like it. This could be almost anything, but when his mother pushes in just to urge him on, it may even put him off of it more.
An example of this would be when he was making something just out of joy. It was a family portrait of them all, but something seemed off and he couldn't put his finger on it. It didn't bother him that he didn't have the inspiration to finish it there and then, but when Phie said "Are you going to finish that today?" with a smile, he explained to her how he was feeling about it and that he wanted to leave it for another day. He probably came across as if he wanted to leave it forever and never finish it. His mother said that it was lovely, but mentioned that it would be best to finish it now while he had all the paints out. Something inside of Oscar told him not to continue, but upsetting his mother
broke his heart a little as he put away the paints...

Vera || Father

Vera fascinates Oscar because of his hobby. Of course, Oscar has the respect to not intrude into his dad's 'lab', but often wonders what his father does when while he is in there, other than mixing the DNA of two plants together. Although Oscar likes the thought of his dad's job, it is nothing that interests him to the extent that he would take it on a profession.
Oscar is mostly a 'farther's son', but not in the way you would think. He hardly takes after his father, and only in minor ways does, but would always say that teasing him is mean, and if it's Rosella saying things, he will push her away to try and tell her to stop. He doesn't like the idea of making fun of Vera, because they say you should respect your elders.

Rosella || Older sister

Oscar actually likes his sister most of the time, and doesn't mind if she may joke about him. He mainly just listens to what she has to say, whether it's a load of rubbish or something intriguing.
What may annoy her is that she acts like a completely different viscet in front of others. He doesn't like it when she is shy, because that's what he is generally like, not Rose. He definitely prefers her when she is her bubbly, yet laid-back self, not the shy blushy one she is in front of viscets that she has a potential crush on.

Oscar takes after his dad mostly and is nothing like his sister or mother. He is quite reserved, keeping quiet and not speaking that often. But this is normal, only because he prefers not too share his thoughts and opinions because he is afraid that they may harm someone is some way, or that he is wrong.
He has quite a creative mind though, constantly doodling in class or drawing at home, but prefers if you don't see his drawings or he will get embarrassed.
Some think that he has little faith in himself, but this isn't true, he just doesn't show it. He knows that he can push himself to some extent and will do so, just not so much around other people who are not his family or close friend group.
He isn't all that shy, and will certainly stand up for himself or others if things don't go the way he thinks it should. He sometimes gets picked on because of how small he is, but they soon learn that he does have a small fierce side to him, and will shout at anyone who teases him ( unless it's his mother or Rosella )
Oscar is quite quiet, only known to speak up if he feels the need to or wants a little attention. He spends most of his time relaxing in his room, doodling random things he sees around him or in his head. Most of them aren't seen by others, and are neatly packed away in his bedside drawers where no-one can view them. It's not because they are bad, in fact they are really good and very creative. He just prefers to keep them there, because he can get embarrassed when others tell him he has a talent.
Never always happy, Oscar can feel a little lonely or upset, but hardly talks about why he feels this way. When he was a young viscet, he found it difficult to talk to others, scared that they would find him boring or what he is interested in boring. He just waited for others to come talk to him and would listen to everything they had to say before even daring to go on about things that he may find interesting to share. His shyness was a big problem for him, because he spent most afternoons alone, only to be checked on by his parents or his sister. But in this time, he managed to teach himself how to draw, which is something he now really enjoys.

Paxton is quite similar to his father, Vera. He tends to prefer to stick to himself, and is generally shy to those he doesn't know. However, he isn't a worry-wart like his father. On top of which he is very stubborn, which he claims he gets from his mother, as similar to her, he does not give up easily, and won't let things go very quickly either. He tends to hold very long grudges, so once you do something that he thinks is wrong he will not talk to you. There is something about Paxton that one could say is different from both his parents, and even his sibling Rosella. That something would be that Paxton is very adventurous. He loves exploring, and tends to get into things that he isn't suppose to. This can get Pax into a lot of trouble with his parents, sister, or even other viscets. He doesn't have a good sense of when he should and shouldn't do something. Some may call him a troublemaker, as he tends to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and this causes older viscets to see him as a menace, and for younger viscets to look up to him and admire him. Even though Paxton doesn't like making friends, he does have one that he would claim to be a best friend of his. That wouldn't be a viscet, but rather a parrot. No one knows quite how he obtained this parrot, that includes Paxton, it just kind of came to him one day and just never left. Nevertheless, he tells that parrot, that he named Kinsley, everything. Aside from Kinsley, he doesn't really talk to anyone outside his family.

Phie || Paxton is very close to his mother. He knows better than to try to tell his mother what to do, but would rather ask her in as sweetly as he possibly could, which he rarely asks her to do anything. Usually when she pokes fun at him or Rosella, he will usually join in, but will stay out of it when Phie is poking fun of Vera, as he does have a great deal of respect for his father as well. He loves and admires how his mother is very encouraging, and knows that if he ever loses all hope on himself, that Phie will always be there for him to help him to push and strive on. That is one thing that he loves about his mother. In return of her encouragement, he would always return the favor or be there for her if she ever needed him to be. With that being said, Paxton is also very, very protective of his mother. There isn't a lot he wouldn't do for Phie. When it comes to his mother he sees himself as her protector of sorts. If he had to choose what parent was his favorite, it would probably be his mother, Phie. She is also the only one he will never be able to hold a grudge against, so yes, he is indeed a momma's boy.

"My mommy?! I love her!! I could be around her aaallllll the time and never get bored! She's the best! But if you ever do any wrong to her I will bite you. Hard."


Vera || Vera and Paxton are relatively close. He loves and respects his father, and shares a similar desire to be by oneself. With his own knowledge of preferring to be alone leave Paxton to give his father a lot of space. He doesn't spend a lot of time with Vera, as Paxton personally doesn't take an interest in science, so he doesn't really know what he and his father could really even talk about to one another. He is, however, fascinated by the plants that come about after his father cross breeds them. Paxton isn't completely sure how Vera is able to do so, but due to Pax's lack of interest in science, he doesn't really care to learn how it is done. Even though Paxton is very respectful to his parents, he doesn't find his father to be very brave or capable of protecting the family if the situation called for it. This causes a slight worry to leave Vera and Phie alone without him around. Even though he should trust his parents, and that it could be greatly considered an insult if he ever revealed his doubts in his father's ability to protect Phie. He loves his father very much, and has a great deal of respect for him, but his relationship with Vera isn't as close as his relationship with his mother, even if he takes after mainly Vera.

"My dad? He's a good guy. I love him, I really do, but I don't really spend a whole lot of time with him...he likes his space and...I like mine."


Rosella || Paxton is very, very close to Rosella. She is like his second best friend. He tends to do a lot of things with his sister, he often times tries to pester her so she will tag along with him when he goes on his little adventures, however, she is one that he doesn't like to pick on him or tease him. He only allows for his mother to do that to him. If she ever does something that upsets him he will keep a shorter grudge against his sister. He has a similar relationship with his sister as he does with his mother. He prefers to tease Rosella, but you see she cannot tease him, otherwise he will be upset with her. It's only a one way street. She cannot tease him, she cannot tease him, no, no, no. That is not okay with him. However, even though he can tease her, nobody else can, his mother being an exception. If he finds out that anyone has been teasing or picking on his sister, he will confront them and might, just might headbutt them, if not bite them. He also calls her Ella instead of Rosella.

"My sissy?!?! I love her! She's just as crazy as me! No...she is more crazy than me. But don't you dare call her anything negative, or else you will have me to deal with! Love you Sissy!!
