k'l'earr adix -- goes by claire -- gender unknown -- they/them pronouns

hello, fellow earth-dweller! my designated name is k'l'earr adix, but you may call me claire. as you have likely been able to tell, i am not from around here. the planet i once called home, natiann, resides many lightyears away. it is the largest planet in the krall unit, a small solar system under the control of the quallorians. natiann serves as the headquarters for the quallorians, a race of aliens who plan to conquer all planets within their radar.

before i go into detail of my involvement with the quallorians, i believe it would be of interest if i describe my home planet. natiann has a similar atmosphere to that of venus; it is very dense with the primary component being carbon dioxide. it is extremely hot there, and there are no bodies of water. in fact, there is not much there other than the quallorians and others of my kind. you may find occasional patches of greenery, including the one where my living unit was located. but perhaps my favorite part of natiaan was its moon, fragaria, with its eternal pink glow.

daily life in natiann was extremely busy, at least for me. you see, i worked as an agent for the highest level of quallorians. i was often rushed back and forth between government buildings to deliver various goods, and i occasionally had to make trips to other planets when information was too secure to risk being redirected through radio signals. i was also the one they sent to gather information from new planets that popped up on the radar, and this is where earth comes into the picture.

earth had been my most recent assignment, and it had been labelled to be very important. being the loyal agent i was, i accepted it and i was sent here, to earth. at first things went along as normal; i wandered around, jotting notes on the various creatures i encountered. these notes would be sent to the quallorians so they would know what to expect when they arrived to take over. when i began observing humans, though, my loyalties shifted. i had been told that all of the life on earth was inferior, but.. i realized that was not entirely true.

my first thought was how i could change the quallorians' minds. i was restless for many nights until, finally, i came up with a plan. first, i would send sequences of misinformation that made it seem as though i had found a threat that was much, much larger than my masters. then, once i received a reply questioning my findings, i would fake my death.

i will admit, the plan seemed absurd and i was not sure it would work. but either i can make really convincing death noises, or the quallorians are just extremely gullible, because it worked. after i had sent the audio recording of my "death" and faked a loss of signal, i overheard sounds of distress and an order to abandon mission "earth" on the other end of the transmission. that was all i needed to hear, so i destroyed all of my equipment, dumping it in a nearby river. at that point, i set off to live a life of my own here on earth, and that brings us up to the present. whether or not the quallorians will ever try again, i do not know. but i do know one thing, and that is that the life here on earth is more than capable of fighting them off.

An introduction seems most appropriate at this time. My assigned name is 0204937, which, on this odd, sentimental planet, manifested itself to O2, and now Otu. In the Colony, gender is of no significance, but you may refer to me as male if you wish.

You seem to wish to hear more of the Colony. The Colony, population +381079 at last report, can be found at little over 2.5 light-years from this solar system, and is my birthplace. It is a cluster of microplanets, held together by weak centrifugal and gravitational forces. The largest of these, 0, is the ‘headquarters', surrounded by 1 – 6, the ‘workplaces', and 7 – 18, the ‘hives'. The general pigment is closer to purple than to your green, due to a chemical reaction unable to be explained in known Earth terms.

The inhabitants do not construct as you do, but work with the land to find and adapt appropriate shelter. They are craftsmanlike, and can make use of most any landscape. Hence, their landscapes appear bare from a distance: only up close can the craftsmanship be noticed. The people of the Colony do not focus on grand or spectacular designs; everything which occurs holds a distinct significance in benefiting the Colony.

The same goes for language. On this planet, you name everything, even that which can't be seen, and unnecessary communication is popular beyond belief. In the Colony, things do not work in that manner. For the purpose of understanding, they have words for categories, and number objects and people, hence my number and those of each microplanet in the cluster, but they do not have terms for things which cannot be seen, like your 'happy'.

An odd difference between the Colony and Earth is that many substances found on the Colony are corrosive here. It was never considered that regular substances could have different effects on alien planets, but my theory is that a difference in atmosphere caused a natural differentiation between the effects of substances. The atmosphere here is unusual: I found this out by accident. In fact, that discovery is what resulted in my residence here.

The people of the Colony are workers. They work for the benefit of themselves and the Colony, and if something isn't necessary it shouldn't be done: there are more beneficial ways to spend time. Studies over a small decrease in humidity showed that humidity will continue to decrease due to a fault in the atmosphere, until the Colony dries up. This cannot be fixed, so the parching is imminent - though it won't occur for thousands of years - meaning that the people must find a new place to live.

The people of the Colony know that difficulties will be faced if tasks are left too long, and so they sent out individuals such as myself in ships. Their aim it is to find a new place with an environment which can serve as a future home to the Colony.
I came upon Earth after some time roaming the vacuum you call ‘space', and planned to land here to take note of the climate, levels of humidity, atmosphere and existing organisms. However, once my ship entered the atmosphere, unidentifiable problems were encountered. Ships made by the Colony are simply not made to handle the conditions of this planet, and I somehow managed to land, but my ship will never fly again.

As I don't have materials to fabricate a new ship, I cannot return and so am no longer a member of the Colony. I can only hope I'm not alone.

They have alien antennae, super sleek/short fur, a snake-like tail, long pointed ears, and little stars instead of feather beads. They don't have any magic powers, per say, but their lifespan is 3x that of a normal plumerian if they don't die of unnatural causes, and their blood is bright-colored and very corrosive; it can eat through most Earth materials! The gradient parts on their body have a smooth, shiny, glassy texture.

For the contest, I want to learn about where they're from! This will be a smaller competition; you can have 600 words maximum, and ONE art piece showing them where they're from
Song lyrics/quotes written in your form do count for words; links to songs/art credits don't!

mainly interested in learning about where they're from, so keep that in mind when writing! :'D
