Miyako Rei Hotaka has a very interesting name that is full of meaning and bewilderment.
Miyako, itself, means a variety of things. The (mi) [美] means beautiful, (ya) [夜] night and (ko) [子] child, which I believe fits him perfectly, as he is a beautiful, night-loving child bringing joy to the world.
Rei [玲], on the other hand, in this particular script, means 'the tinkling of jade'. I figured that this fitted Miyako quite well considering it is a rather large contrast to his fur and dark colours that he heralds, however, I think this name also fits him quite well because the other script for it [麗] means 'lovely'. Both of these definitions brighten his demeanour altogether, and also changes my own outlook on him for the better.
Hotaka is also split into two different meanings: (ho) [穂] meaning grain and taka [高] meaning tall. Once again, these definitions seem to 'click' for me with this Hazard Cat, and also give him a very unique feeling, together with how he looks, completing the picture.
Miyako Rei Hotako is an odd little child, his heart beat always shown on the little screen on his chest and his soul pure and untainted unlike the fur he is rendered in. Despite being mute - unable to communicate with others, though fully capable of understanding them - he has some funny habits of his own, but there are two that stand out the most.
Let's start with the lesser weird one. Miyako absolutely loves jelly - apple and orange jelly in particular. He's not sure whether it's the colour or the taste or the texture that entices him - maybe it's the way it wibbles and wobbles? - but he adores it with a passion. He'd bathe in it if he could - really, that's how far his love for it stretches! And there's always. Time. For. Jelly. No matter what.
Now onto the weirdest habit Miyako possesses. Licking anything and everything without a given explanation or cause. Specifically things he likes - lampshades are a good example. He has a fascination with those things.
The more excited Miyako is, the more he'll lick something. Maybe it's a way to vent off that energy, maybe not - who knows? Either way, he'll get all jumpy and excitable and proceed to lick the hell out of something until he calms down at least a tad.
Anyway - licking.
New object? He'll lick it.
New person? Lick.
Food? Lick.
Electric sockets? Lick.
Jelly? LICK LICK LICK.
Thankfully he has no slober to coat the unsuspecting objects or people with - but he does either send them an electric shock, or leave a small, thin layer of a green ectoplasmic substance, possibly some sort of fuel produced in his body parts.
