A parched piece of paper flapped in the breeze, and in deep red ink it read;"WANTED!
By order of the alpha pair, if any viscet captures and turns in out-law and pirate Captain Horizon, they will be heavily rewarded.
Dead or alive.'
"Captain Horizon... sounds fake." Muttered a careless passer-by of the note. If they only knew the truth of the story...
In the beginning...
Ranson crept slowly through his open door, standing ajar. A knapsack slung over his back, his paws padded ever so carefully down the hall... he was running away. Him, Prince Ranson, Son to The Higher Alpha. Hey, he had reasons! This was no rush of juvenile misjudgment. He was unloved. Truly, unbearably unloved. He was trapped in a world of law, ruling, and royalty. Royalty. He was simply disgusted at the word. There were two kinds; fair, or tyrant. Both tended to be despicable. He was not going to be a part of it! He wanted more in life, and he had found a way out; a way to quench his restless heart. Well, either quench or inflame... All he left was a note, in the color his father hated most.
'I'm off to sail the seas,
for you ignored my crying pleas.
Do you see what you've created?
A fire to be dilated.
It will rage, for all to see!
The winds will push me 'round the world.
Now, I am free.
Hovering at the gate, he looked back, almost with hesitation. "No." He shook his head, set in his decision. Silently letting himself out, he raced as fast as his feet could carry him. At last, he came to the dock, with a small cargo ship he had signed onto ready to push off. The dazzling sun rose behind it, and Ronson felt... ecstatic. Free, to go sail away, forever! He placed a paw on the polished deck, letting the glowing horizon fill him with warmth ... and Prince Ranson of Europe was no more.
Oh, there are countless tales of his wild forays, yet he was never found. At least, not as Prince Ranson. That perfect son was now gone, taken by the salty sea air, and the freedom of the curling blue waves. Everywhere he went he left rumors; he called himself Horizon. For that was where he was heading.
To end the story of how Captain Horizon began, here is a song he sings when in a bittersweet mood...
A Thousand Goodbyes
'Away is where I need to go.
I've always been far;
I simply didn't let it show.
All I need is a ship,
and off I'll go.
A Thousand Goodbyes, my friend.
Bring me that horizon!
Teach me the flow.
Give me the blinding sun!
On it's golden rays I will run.
Wandering is my way;
confined I mustn't stay.
A Thousand Goodbyes, old friend.'
