art: The streets are alight with the dancing harmonious tones,
positively blinking in light of the new year, you feel joy in your bones.
Crisp air carries on a lazy breeze through the jovial, colorful town,
the gathered children smile merrily, all except for one small frown.
They giggle and chatter in a neat little ring and exchange gift or two,
one stands outside, the other's perplexed by what's making her so blue.
In the star-scattered sky, a gentle snowdrift corkscrews in the midnight air,
the marching band forms on the cold street and the audience stand and stare.
Rhythmic drumming sounds throughout and mesmerizes the captive crowd,
a chorus of loud voices sing melodic Christmas carols, in unison and proud.
Beautiful and festive floats follow the band, lightbulbs featuring the entire rainbow,
passing the enthusiastic spectators and illuminating their faces with a warm glow.
At the end of the street a stallion swiftly strides into view on the smooth earth,
the girl turns to observe the commotion, whilst the rider tightens up the girth.
with delicate, careful precision, the lady ties a subtle silk scarf into a neat knot,
along the street the parade continued, the stunning strawberry stallion broke into a trot.
The crowd clapped with encouragement, behind him he was pulling a flawless copper sleigh,
the girl watched the stallion as it halted at the end of the path, drawing an end to the big day.
She ran over to the horse and was intrigued by the sleigh that sat on the thick snow,
her face lit up with joy, as the handler untied the scarf and handed it to the girl to 'borrow'.
She now wears that scarf on cold winter days and it holds a special place in her heart,
it contains where her love for horses originated from and from the scarf she can't depart.
[are we allowed to do more than one art form? Also note to self - don't write poems again
they take too long xD]
