Viscet Name: Fae (meaning confidence, trust, belief).
Viscet Gender: Female
Whats with the lights in its tail and the light marbles in its horns?: *below.*
There is a legend that revolves around the northern woods... a tale of dangerous forays into the deep, tall trees. A tale of tragedy, of a painful oath, and of a quest for healing and peace... and of lanterns.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The tale of Fae the lone viscet is a long one. Far too long, fabled, and at times unclear to properly retell. So, I shall give a rather more... what's the word... well, unknown version. It started many years ago, deep in the northern forests, filled with tall, leering pines. There, a pack resided, a pack of noble prestige and warriors pure of heart. The alpha pair, Everus and Elria, had just brought forth into the world a viscling, Fae. They named her so for Fae meant confidence, a trait cherished. It also meant trust, and Everus (Fae's father) had trust that his offspring would bring good to his beloved woods. And finally, this name meant belief. Elria (Fae's mother) believed that her daughter had a light within her young soul. All these hopes and dreams were true, but eventually played out far different than what was originally envisioned. Oh, if they only knew the life their little Fae would lead... Many parents wish their children happiness and security. But the life in store for Fae had other plans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many years later...
Fae shivered in the bushes, paws clamped over her ears in agony. The sounds of battle were just too much. She had tried to warn them! Conflict had been brewing with the Southern Woods Pack for too long, and no good had come of it. She had warned them, only to be shrugged off. And now, they called her a coward for not joining in battle. A coward! Nobody calls the alpha pair's daughter a coward and gets away with it. But then, Fae at times felt they were right. She had no skills that brought her to defend her family, did she? Something had to be done. Wriggling out from beneath the underbrush, Fae crept toward the sounds of battle. She was ready to charge. 'Don't think, just go.' Fae told herself, gritting her teeth. She jetted into the fray, and what she saw was something beyond agony or sadness. She had come too late. With a cry, Fae shot off running, never looking back for fear of the image imprinting itself in her mind. Oh, for so long she had run.... away from more things than I can write. Away from her life. Away from the destruction she didn't help prevent. The legend says she didn't stop for two days and nights, until faint from exhaustion. Under a ginormous evergreen did she stop, turning her head to the fading light of the sun. "Here I take an oath." She panted, tone low. " I vow to heal those who come to me. To collect tales of the earth I wander, so I may keep those times alive with my words. I am now alone. This is my punishment. And most of all, I will never forget the land and family from which I came." At that last word, Fae dropped to the ground and slept. The next morning, she awoke to find an assortment of golden, light-filled lanterns hanging from her horns and tail. Taking this as a sign from nature, approving of her painful choice, she stood, head held high. No confusion or mistrust addled her conscience. She walked. And thus begins the legend of Fae, the Teller Of Tales, the Wanderer, the Broken Healer.
She was an eternal legend, healing all who forsook her help. She could always be seen as a distant light, within the shadows.... watching. Waiting. And shining.

There is o' so much more, my dear reader, but time wears thin. It is vague, but still truly the beginning of a long and wondrous tale. Some believe it to be foolhardy, but I know better. Follow the light, and you will see for yourself...

Viscet Name: D'ara
Viscet Gender: Female
Whats with the lights in its tail and the light marbles in its horns? (story or description): Over a thousand years ago, an ancient tribe of viscets lived in the forest. They had done many great deeds, won many battles, and wrote many great tales that would be passed from generation to generation. However, if the stories weren't told from family to family, many of them were lost to time. Because of this, they had decided to carve the stories into the trees. They had continued to do this for many years, until an enemy tribe attacked. The enemies defeated the tribe, and chopped down many of the trees that contained the stories. Because of this, the tribe decided to appoint a guardian to guard the stories. D'ara, a young warrior, stepped forward. The tribe shaman fashioned small light orbs. Those light orbs would grant her great power, but they also contained her life essence. If she ever lost those orbs, she would die. The trees gave her life, wandering away from them would mean death. She was bound to those trees. Those orbs would light up the trees that contained the stories at night, so that she could protect them from the creatures that hid in the shadows. Even though the tribe is long gone now, she is still there, forever watching over the legends.

Username: Aloha! I'm Huuuuuuh; I've fallen in love with this beauty so I'll attempt to try out. c:

Viscet Name: Her name is Galadriel. I named her after a elf in Lord Of The Rings

Viscet Gender: She will be female.

Short personality: Galadriel is brave, determined, and smart. However, she has the tendency to be rather negative and always sees the worst of things. She's a glass half-empty kind of person and is prone to being self-pitying. She is extremely sentimental, even keeping the smallest objects forever because they remind her of someone or something, though she has little contact with others.

Whats with the lights in its tail and the light marbles in its horns? (story or description): I was born at midnight, a time so dark, I could scarcely see a thing. The old, withered Yew bush I was born in shielded me from any that would seek to harm me, but also from the light. My first day I thought that the world was barely bigger than me and filled with darkness.
..... However, I like to say that even at that time I was naturally inquisitive. So, despite my young age, I tottered to my feet and went to explore my world. Emerging from the bush, my thin, soft skin- which had yet to grow fur- shredded and bleeding, I was stunned. Like a magnet to its pair, so was I drawn to the light of the stars. "So much beauty, so much light" I can clearly remember myself thinking.
.... The sun was even better. Like a giant ball of fire risen up in air, I thought it surely must be a god. So long I spent marveling at it's beauty, I could barely see when I looked away.
... But it seemed that the wood I lived in- filled with shadows and fear- had other plans, and the sun was stolen from me in a tangle of branches and leaves, leaving my world in darkness.
... That was when the first visions came. Horrifying scenes filled with violence, fear, and blood. I didn't know what they depicted- past, future, or present; all I had was the terrible sense that they were real.
... I don't like to remember much about that time. It's impossible to imagine, even now, what I went through. I never knew when the visions would come and when they did, I couldn't remember where I was, who I was. My world was devoid of light and joy. I spent my days in fear, hoping that another vision wouldn't come.
... Thank god, then, for the light. Though the sun was masked by trees, I found light of another sort. Faerie light, which never went out and was made of magic and beauty. Faeries are rare, especially in dark forests like mine. But they are good creatures, unlike men. When I found their little village, strung up in the branches of a tree and glittering with their lovely, little lights, they gave food and shelter, but most of all they gave me my lanterns, crafted of bronze, gold and magic. They glow in even the darkest nights and looking at them chases away the visions as well as shedding little sparks that dance around my horns. Now, though my beautiful sun is gone, the lights give me some semblance of peace.

Song that represents them: Kazoku by Keiko Yamada (The website has the recording on it.) Kazoku means family in Japanese, and though Galadriel's family aren't really mentioned, I feel it still represents her. I played this piece a long while back in my school orchestra and I still have the sheet music.

Re: Viscet #330 - Lythalewa

Viscet Name: Lythalewa
The name Lythalewa comes from 'Lithe' meaning thin, supple, and graceful and 'Alewar' which is a visigothic name composed of the Germanic elements 'al (all)' and 'war (guard)' together meaning 'guard of all'.

The Lights (marbles & lanterns):

December

Lancaster sat with his head bowed in shame. He knew what he had done. His mate, Mariette, stared on with a sorrowful heart. The price would be paid for their actions and their child was cursed to carry the burden.

November

Dark paws sat heavily on the damp earth. A tiny head lifted into the air and peered over the roots into the night. She could feel the shadow calling her but she sat unmoving in the chilly night. A breeze whispered through the trees and the shadow took flight. Tiny wide eyes desperately searched the sky to see nothing but stars glistening in the night. Once again her 'guardian' left her; at least she hoped it was her guardian. After all she wasn't even a month old and could not search the night to find the shadow that stayed close to her. If the creature was within 2-3 miles her veins and heart would begin to pulse an opalescent color; sometimes it was so strong that her tiny body could do nothing but lie down and let it beat.

March

The winter had been her first but like any other it was bitterly cold and unrelenting. Her parents said little to her, ever. She could sense their fear for her but she was unaware of why and disliked it very much. She learned that solitude was not awful, in fact it was rather calming and she enjoyed her imagination and the idea of finding her guardian. The guardian never left her and she could constantly sense it's presence among her. She could feel today was different and she could feel the chill in the air fading to warmth as the day grew on. Suddenly her mother, Mariette, came out of their tree den and nodded at her father, Lancaster, standing behind her, "It's time darling." Her father nodded looking at Mariette and motioned her forward. The trek didn't take but three hours at a walking pace and soon the young Viscet stood between her father and mother on a large hill surrounded by many smaller ones. Her father's deep voice choked as he tried to say something so her mother stepped in, "You must stay here my child. We love you but we must go, stay strong." Fear gripped at her chest and she wanted to call out to them as they sprinted off but no words came and she cried as the oncoming night threatened to bring harm and destruction.

That night her pulse came on, hard, harder than it ever had before. She lay in crippling pain under the moon as the shadow landed on the ground nearby. Suddenly the pain stopped but the light coursed through her veins. She immediately leapt to her feet and faced the shadow. As it neared her she realized it was no terrifying monster, it was a white dragon, pale like the snow of the winter with eyes clearer than any brook she had seen. A deep yet sweet voice spoke to her, "You shall be called Lythalewa." A deep peace set into Lyth's soul for those few brief moments.

August

Another tree crashed before Lyth, it's flames leaping into the sky and singeing her nose. She let out a shriek, the stench of fear was stronger than she had ever felt before. Deer leapt past her shrieking with pain as flames licked their haunches. Trapped animals let out wails of agony and all the birds had taken to the skies leaving their young to a fiery doom. The black dragon soared over the trees, she pressed her dark frame against a charred tree in an attempt to hide. Suddenly, she took off in a full sprint chasing the dragon on foot. The speed of a thousand wolves filled her body and she ran with the ease of the most graceful deer. The hillsides opened before her and she froze, before her eyes lay dead dragons of every shape, size, and color. Her wide eyes filled with tears and she let out a loud wail before sobbing into the ground. Suddenly realized the true horror of what this black dragon could do she quieted herself and snuck into the field. The heat of the forest fire consistently grew stronger and she knew she had to leave soon. As she began to race across the hillsides towards the mountains a dragon's glorious frame seemingly vaporized itself and what looked like fireflies filled the night sky before coming back together and falling to the earth. Lyth ran towards the glowing object, it appeared to be a stone or marble but inside it contained the soul of a dragon. Lyth picked it up in her mouth and as she turned around the remaining dragons bodies all began to disappear as well. Lyth strained with all her muscles to collect the small marbles before the black dragon could see her. Suddenly she saw Saphira, her guardian dragon laying on the ground a few meters away, barely breathing.

Lyth rounded Saphira and met her clear eyes with an unwavering stare. Upon seeing Lyth, Saphira whispered, "Protect the forest and never, NEVER, let him get our souls for I fear oblivion is a place of terror." Saphira's body left a much larger light which Lyth used to create a lantern. With eight dragon souls on her horns and one on her tail she took off over the hillsides. Once arriving in the mountains she saw another lantern-sized soul lying in the dirt. Well that's odd, she thought to herself. She watched it and suddenly a fox popped up, the lantern sitting on its head. "I brought it for you." Lyth stared wide-eyed. The fox just talked, the fox just talked, the fox just talked. Lyth had no words, she simply stared. The fox carried the lantern to Lyth's tail and added it to the other one. Lyth smiled warmly as the fox said, "You're our guardian now." Lyth knew this mountain must always be protected from the evil abounding in the world and she vowed that night with the souls of the mightiest protectors that she would fight for any creature residing in this mountain. They were a family now, her family.

I See Fire by: Ed Sheeran

I am dropping out, I just can't connect like I do with my other viscets and there seem to be many more people interested in this little gal/guy.
