Whats with the lights in its tail
and the light marbles in its horns?
"I'm sorry my love, but no one must know of you, because if they did, they would kill you too..." The wounded young female viscet placed her freshly laid brown and green egg in a messily and hastily made nest made of sticks and sweet grass that the young mother gathered in the Forbidden Forest. The young mother rested beside the fragile egg, in a bloody, panted mess, guarding it with the rest of the energy she had left in her dying body.
Suddenly, a warm, golden light glowed upon the dying mother. A kind male voice spoke out to her, "my child, in my forest you lie dying, your freshly laid egg cold and will be parent less, you are hunted down and to be murdered for your beliefs, but yet you still care for your egg and even your pursuers?" The warm seemed to have manifested a hand through a vine of golden leaves caressed her cheek, bringing her hope. "Yes, Father Nature because this world is cruel and cold but beautiful at the same time. I believe just a single act of kindness will slowly make this place better, and I wish that for my baby. But I don't want them to die without knowing love and warmth, but I know that I wont be able to provide them with that..." Tears started to stream down her face and then she took the small pouch that she had and reached it towards the light, and her sobbing become more apparent. The woodland animals all came out to witness the scene, as if one with Father Nature. A small fox came forward and took the small but heavy pouch from her then trotted back to where he was before.
"My child, are you sure about this? You do not wish to use these to preserve your life instead?" The voice with that came from no direction reach out to her. The mother smiled through her tears. "Yes. But if I can make one request, please, I know that it will be a girl, so please, name her Maisy..." The same fox that took pouch nodded in understanding. "I will do as you wish young one, now be at peace."
The young mother seemed to glow and almost fade into light, then completely turning into a golden light energy that wisped into the pouch which started to glow the same light. Suddenly, the whole forest seemed to rumble, most of the woodland animals scurrying off, and then thick vines with sharp thorns, massive trees and large stones grew from the ground, forming a beautiful shrine.
....
It was hard for the woodlands' animals to keep the egg alive. Too many times have a bear with a kind heart had to have the egg taken away from him so he doesn't crush it, a bird took the egg to their nest to almost fall to it's doom, or even the egg being caught floating in the river, but every time it seems like the egg is about to meet its end, a beautiful, golden ethereal light would always catch it and whisk it away to a neatly made nest. The egg never had a scratch, it was never dropped.
The animals of the forest were confused. Sure, they've seen some weird stuff in that forest, especially when the mother of the egg that they're currently taking care of visited the forest one year when she was young. The young Viscet would dig a hole and burry a seed, then pray. She would pray for a baby to love and take care of, and she couldn't produce her own egg with her mate. She pulled out a small pouch and pulled out (what the animals now recognized as the light filled Crystal marbles that the mother gave to Father Nature) several Crystal objects and five candles. She prayed everyday until a golden light shown and glowed all over the Viscet, making her appear to have wings of light, and then the tree she prayed at suddenly grew. Her wish has been fufilled and she would never return until the day she died
The animals felt ashamed whenever the light glowed, but they also felt relief and happiness. A mother's love is so strong that it even surpasses life and death. One animal, a badger, tried to catch the light, but phased right through it, but he described the light as warm, and kind. After that, the animals decided that it would probably be for the best if they left the egg alone, because they noticed that the egg glowed that lovely, golden light when they're away. They felt discouraged, but they wanted to make sure that the forest is prepared and safe for the viscling's arrival, so they made the nursery bigger and safer, they made a little table for changings, a rocking chair, and lights made out of a thousand fireflies.
Just when they were about to discus who should be the females of their group to feed the baby, the egg started to move. There was a crack, a shake, and knockings, and then the egg glowed with a golden light and started to levatate, as if being picked up by someone invisible, then the egg hatched. She was tiny and precious, a sweet bundle of life.
Then Father Nature came with the guardian of the forest, the old fox. The fox carried the pouch that the mother gave it in its mouth. The pouch bounced and wiggled as if something small and alive was trying to get out. The old fox places the sack, which was now brightly glowing, by the newborn. The wind whipped all around them, the sound of water roared in everyone's ears even though the waterfall is too far away to hear it, the smell of grass filled their nostrils and flowers bloomed around them, and a firey warmness surrounded them, that until they saw her. The mother appeared, a gorgeous spirit bathed in the golden light of the sun, covered in jewel-like sparkles, started to sing.
The voice was beautiful and rich, a soft lullaby for her child (The song that represents Maisy). "Maisy, my little Maisy. You're so beautiful. Mommy loves you!" The spirit then kissed the new born and a splash of light painted on the little viscling's forehead. The spirit disapated into fireflies and flew back into the sack filled with the crystals. All was quiet again- no singing, no sounds of water, not even the dozens of fast paced heartbeats of the animals could be heard. This was a moment of silence for the mother, and no one dared to break it, except for one. A loud cry filled the gloomy air, and it began to rain
"Welcome to the world......Maisy Rain."
....
It was a busy day for all the animals in the forest. Tomorrow would be Maisy's 18th birthday, and Father Nature and his guardian, the fox had something big planned for her day.
Maisy grew up to be beautiful, kind, and graceful, just like what her mother wished her to be. She was thought of as a princess by most who knew her, as she was the gem of the forest. She was humble, that was made assured by one of her teachers, a cranky, old goose. Her best friend and caretaker was the fox, who was beginning to grey and get slower, and she worried about his health. She was generally well liked by the animals around her, but then again, they were all kind and accepting to everyone.
Maisy was excited for her birthday tomorrow. Father Nature said that he and the fox has something to give her tomorrow. The decorations outside were beautiful, from the trees getting a trim, the flowers are all in bloom, and the grass is greener than ever. Tomorrow is going to be perfect!
Tomorrow became today. The birds were singing a song that sounded almost familiar, like a song she heared so many years ago, the young animals were playing and dancing, the goose was trying to show off to a girl but got rejected like always, the sky was gentle and peaceful, the sun was welcoming, and the forest was lively with excitement and cheer. It was officially spring time.
Maisy looked for her friend, but couldn't find him outside, so she went into the shrine that she's lived in since before she could remember. There he was. A pitiful heap of sickness and fur. Maisy knew that the fox was getting old and sick, but she didn't know that he was dying so fast! Maisy ran quickly over to her friend after the look of horror was off her face. And then there was that familiar golden light that came with the omnipresent Father Nature. The fox lifted himself up, keeping his noble stance. Something was up
....
"Too many of my children have died for their kindness and beliefs, so for you, you will live here as the guardian of the forest. You must never this forest, or else you and this forest will suffer greatly." The young female Viscet nodded her head as she listened to Father Nature talked about the importance of her staying, but she didn't understand about what he meant that she is the guardian of the forest. She was shocked and now confused. "But Father! I don't understand! He's the guardian of the forest!"
"My familiar, the fox, is dying. This is the circle of life, and he understands that. Now, on his last day, we wish to give you our last present to you, and we don't want to hear anymore about our dying." The aged fox came trotting over to Maisy, handing her a small, yet heavy pouch that slightly glowed. Maisy took and opened it, the glowing becomes more brighter as she took out several glowing beads of light on a leather string.
"That was your mother's before she died." Maisy looked at the fox in shock. "M-my mother?! This was hers?" The fox nodded in confirmation. No one ever talked about her mother, so this was a shock to Maisy. "Your mother was one of my many children who died, but she died protecting you and brought you here so that the forest would raise you and protect you from the outside world. Before she died, she transferred the last of her life's energy into what you are now holding so that she can always be there, her light guiding and protecting you."
Tears fell from her blue eyes onto the warm, glowing beads. These were her mothers... These are her mother. She will cherish these forever. "W-why are you giving me these?" Maisy didn't understand, but it's too late to ask questions. Both the light and the fox was gone. She put on the beads and looked out to the forest that she now has to protect.
....
It was a shock to the entire forest of the death of their guardian, but the forest cheered with joy when they found out that their new guardian was Maisy. Maisy was proud, after all, this is what her friend and caretaker, the fox wanted, but she felt nervous. Can she be live up to the fox's legacy and protect her home? The lights on her horns and tail glowed a little bit brighter. Was this a sign from her mother? Maisy felt herself relaxed and decided that it was a sign. Maisy no longer felt alone
