Poem:
By the ever darker waning moon,
Something nearing far too soon,
A creature shadowed, phantom, shade;
Crept within the barren glade.
Spook and shy and howl with mirth,
Kiddies cringing by the hearth,
Something slunk in the dark night,
Prey beware there is no fight.
He is fierce, and he is king,
He's a wicked, wild, willy thing,
But at the top he's all alone,
Wandering, wandering, without a home.
Monster, demon, beast; they cried,
Such foul words and bitter lies,
Shaped the nightmare they so feared-
They forced the darkness to come so near.
To the surface something boiled,
In his heart, something coiled,
Acceptance, love, a gentle hug?
All he wanted, dashed by a club.
Pitchforks, fire, he wondered why?
A bloody haze veiled his red eyes,
And when it lifted too late...
Oh what a fine line between love and hate.
For he was a lover pushed much too far,
He was a lover with a heart too scarred,
His hand had been forced on that fine line,
He wasn't stupid, for all they were blind.
Something had given as blood stained the ground,
Something had broken as his world crumbled down,
Something had shattered on that faithful night,
Horror set in, for he'd proven them right.
