Chrysaora Basilisk #290 Orphan Rescue Adopt

Postby IceFire » Tue Aug 11, 2015 6:25 pm

General Info
Chrysaora Basilisk are the prevalent equine creatures that inhabit the world Lucent. They roam by the hundreds, using their unique hooves to score the uneven rock and track down their most vital source of nourishment; evil. The relationship between Chrysaora and humans is a complex one. Chrysaora vocalize like horses, but are also thought to have a syrinx much like birds do and have been recorded displaying a variety of sharp, avian sounds. Their eyes layer over with a dark, murky black until their normal eye color pierces through in a great ball of electric light, radiating toward their victim's open eyes and paralyzing them. The Glare is able to stop both human and creature, and after a few days, unique to other forms of basilisk, the paralyzed being transforms into a sea nettle.

A human trapper had stolen many chrysaora foals and was selling them in a underground black market. A organization of people stopped him and rescued the foals, and are now trying to adopt them out. Each of the foals needs an experienced owner to love and raise them. We're counting on you, the members of the chry community, to give these babes a second chance at life.

Owner: Fuscontidox
Name: Volted Venom "Vein"
Gender: Mare
Task: First Feeding

It hadn't been long since Vein came to stay with me that I become aware just how little she ate, I had tossed her hay, gave her grain, but she would hardly touch it. She was growing fast, and so was my frustration and curiosity as to why she wasn't eating what I served her.

As I entered into the barn, There would be a dark and dreary feeling washing over me the closer I would get to her stall, and I wasn't the only one, my staff started to feel it too, and the horses would fidget uncomfortably. Something wasn't right about that mare of mine, but I didn't know what was clouding over her stall. We had never noticed that it was happening before, at least not to our knowledge at that time, but it wasn't until black flashes started to aimlessly wonder around that I really started to jump out I my skin. It didn't surprise me to see all the horses standing at the far corners of their stalls, as far from Vein as they could be. And when they were let out of their stalls, they seemed more than glad to be away from her, it was getting them back in the stalls that became the problem.

It took me a while to figure it out, and in fact it did not come easy for me to know how things with Chrysaora worked, they are much different from horses, as they may look similar but their habits sure don't resemble each other. While my horses give nickers and whinnies and low rumbles from their noses, Vein made chirps and bird like pitches from the back of her throat. Some of the sounds were far too high pitched to hear, or stand listening to, and it wasn't until I REALLY looked into the history of Chrysaora, rather than the skimming of the surface I had originally done, that I truly knew how things were piecing together. Vein's feeding habits and been from something she would do that had started to create the bad auras everyone produced to gather around her. Not only that but the whole meaning behind tha name of her species had to do with her ability to turn things into sea nettle, her tail and mane appearance, eye color, and most of all the shape of her feeding habits. Yes, the black aura that we would see around her stall had been the anger and depression and stress she drew near her, it would gather and form the shape of Black Sea nettle that she would then absorb.

The only reason I knew most of this was through personal observation, most of the world was trying to limit and even get rid of this "invasive being" that had been brought here as refuge and left on my door step as an egg. Most of the internet had sites blocked world wide that gave information about the species, they didn't want people to know about them, and their extremely dangerous behaviors. They didn't belong here on earth, they were originally from caves and caverns of a world that seemed like a fantasy, maybe not exactly a safe fantasy, but one none-the-less. I had no idea why the little egg was dropped off at my door step only a week or so ago, and I had no idea the species existed except through the note that told me bits and pieces of the background, including the mention of a trapper attempting to sell them off to the black market.

The most amazing thing I had ever caught Vein doing though had been the first time we let her out into the pasture alone, seeing as none of the horses would think about through the have when she was in there, it was like a magical force field was surrounding a large radius around her.

I had stood around, watching and observing her, and it was then that I saw it. For the first time, her feeding, a rabbit hopped through the grass, catching eye with her, falling prey to her murderous gaze as she locked it under her orbs that glowed, eventually a bright light shown and the rabbit became nothing but a grey sea nettle that floated around Vein for awhile before absorbing into her. I felt stiff just at the thought of something so simply piece ful as far as a way to die, beautiful and yet frightening in mere seconds.

I don't remember what freedom felt like it was...It's so dark in here..and cramped. Flinching when my rear pressed against another I navigated my way in the dark, stumbling on the damp ground under my feet and cried in despair.

Twitching my ears i heard strange sounds and trembled with fear when a loud thud was heard and the creak of straining wood as the thudding continued. SNAP!! then silence none of my companions made a sound, all eyes were fixed on a small beam of brightness.

Staring as the brightness grew, i closed my eyes before reopening them slowly, a silhouette was standing there motionless, before it approached me slowly, i could sense the calmness they were giving off, and making an uncertain chirp i backed up before slowly sniffing at what they were holding out and gave the long digits connected to it a curious nibble.

That was the first time i had met my human, and i wouldn't trade them for the world after they had saved me from the darkness.

The game (Free spot task)
I crept slowly toward the snake marked foal.

"How many?" I called out with a grin. 4 chirps was my response

The giddiness apparently seeping into his legs and sending him tumbling head over hooves to land in a black and brown heap on the floor. I winced in sympathy but tried to not to laugh as Freeze stood and slowly looked around, most likely hoping nobody had seen his little tumble.

I snorted and then dissolved into full blown laughter. Freeze's head whipped round to stare at me disdainfully and I laughed even harder, arms wrapping around my stomach as I hunched over slightly. The lanky black dun colt snorted in disgust and ignored me.

He'd grown so much from the day he'd first been brought home, the black colt was taller and fuller now. He'd been underweight and so tiny when I'd first brought him to the yard. I smiled as Freeze forgot his disgust and came to tuck himself against my side, seeking my now familiar touch. I gently ran my hand through his long brown mane, feeling the coarse hair run against my fingers without snagging. Sometimes all a neglected soul needed was a bit of TLC, grooming had brought Freeze and I closer together and he tended to groom me right back while I ran my body brush either over his coat or through his mane and tail.

"Looking at you now, who would have you'd been kept in some basement by creeps" I murmured as he laid his horned head on my lap, staring up at me with deep soulful eyes. He chirped questioningly, "alright alright, back to the game then" I laughed. Freeze moved off of my lap and then dashed away.

Standing up, I turned so my back was facing the dark colt and listened carefully. There was a questioning noise.

"3" I called out to him, turning slightly as I did.

We repeated the processes until I felt him nudge my back with his velvety soft nose. He chirped once more and I turned with a grin.

"It's dinnertime" I called out giving chase as he squealed and ran, he was pure joy in motion and I loved him all the more for it.

So basically in the story. Isabela and Freeze are playing a variant of what time is it mr wolf. A fun little playground game <3

- I've been volunteering at the big Chrys foal re-adoption event for a few days now. It has been interesting but also really difficult to see all these foals turned orphaned. It doesn't help that we are encouraged not to get attached, which may sound odd since they are trying to adopt the foals out. The issue is that we can't really keep getting attached to the tiny things as we'll soon be sending them of to their next home. For the most part I haven't had any issues but there have been a few times that I've wanted to kidnap a little tyke home. I know it sounds strange, how I work for the place that breed and adopts out all the foundation Chrysaora, but I don't own one yet myself. Truth is being around them all the time means I don't feel that need to bring one home to add onto my already vast estates, filled with all kinds of animals. Don't get me wrong I certainly don't run it alone, and if it weren't for my staff, friends and family I would never have pursued it professionally. But I digress, back to the story of the day I met Nathair.
- On that particular day it had been raining hard the night before, so the mud squelched under my boots as I went back and forth from the main shed to the manure pile. Leave it to me to be the one stuck on muck duty of the messiest day so far, though the cool temperatures felt amazing in the middle of physical work. wip
