"Like most creatures of stories, I have a handful of names I could go by. Akello is the one given
to me by my mother, so it's the one I prefer. I am fond of 'Forest Eyes'. It was assigned to me
because I often slink in the shadows and forget that my eyes stand out quite well. But, it has
an unwieldiness to it and is often shouted by others in fear, so I don't use it often. A name I
don't like so much, but am very familiar with is 'Cat'. I suppose it's because of my eyes, but
...is it that hard to tell the difference? I mean...it's a little offensive.... I go by the title
'Essence of the Forest', as this is what I believe I am. It only makes sense. Plus, it has a nice
ring to it. I've been around for some time, twenty-seven years or so, I believe. It is sort of
difficult to keep track... We'll say twenty-seven and call it good. I am a vixen who's grown
up a loner and intends to stay that way. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Name: Akello, Essence of the Forest
Pronunciation: [Ah-key-lo]
Gender: Vixen
Age: 27
Rank: Loner
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
Personality:
Akello loves to dream. She has a general ignorance towards the world around her due to this. Rather than the history of the land or knowledge of any wars, her mind's eye tells brilliant stories of heroes that wander about the land past her forest, fighting off evils in the most dramatic of ways. She can make up any story she wants and, for all she knows, it could be true, just out of her reach! Unfortunately, most of her imaginative scenarios could only be real in her head. No one is there to tell her otherwise, though. Even if someone was to approach and try to educate her on how the world runs, she is likely to reject their words, preferring to keep her fantasy. Either way, she's not hurting anyone, so it's best to leave her with her overactive imagination.
Although she's cheerful, optimistic, and friendly, Akello has no real idea on how to act around others, no matter how much she likes to pretend she does. It's very easy for her to be overbearing or pry into others' business. She means no harm, but she can become annoying at an alarming pace. But, maybe one doesn't even manage to get that far, to face-to-face interactions. Most know her as the snapping twigs in the bushes, the disembodied giggle, and the slightly patronizing voice giving directions that may or may not be accurate. Akello is very good at lying and, since no one has told her otherwise, she sees nothing wrong with it. She finds it very amusing to lead animals on wild goose chases, especially to see their angered or baffled expressions along the way. She likes to play tricks on the mind as well. She's constantly coming up with new ways to make it seem like you've gone in circles a thousand times or you're not alone in the forest...and she wonders why she doesn't have any friends....!

Den:
There is a place where, for unknown reasons, several trees have
collapsed into each other clumsily, as if they tried to form a tepee
shape and missed. Between the closely pressed trunks, there are
several gaps, one of which is big enough for Akello to get into.
Inside the formation is an abandoned den of something like a
badger that was probably scared off by whatever happened to the
trees. With some work, she was able to make the tunnels wide
enough to fit through. Unfortunately, she doesn't get a little warren
all to herself. She has to settle for one, good sized chamber or risk
the earth coming down on top of her head.
Territory:
Her territory is a small "island" of forest nestled between Rockhollow
and Dellhaven. Obviously, there isn't actually an island over there. A
small river cuts through the trees, seemingly isolating that portion
from the rest of the territory. Technically, this is still part of
Rockhollow's territory and they could chase her off at any time, but
so far, she hasn't had any major problems with the clan. The land
she claims as her own ends as soon as the trees do, as she has no
interest in the fields. Her location is closer to Loner's Retreat than
it is to the Forbidden Zone. (Note--this place is not actually on the
map)

Powers: Ever since she was born, Akello has been full of life. So much so, that it's spilled from her paws and the top of her head. Tiny pants follow in her footsteps and moss is ever growing from her antlers. She is able to call up any plant she wishes...almost. Her request can't be too big. For example, if she called for a full grown oak tree, she would only get a tiny sapling. There's also a tiny problem with what biome she's in. If she tries to spawn some sort of arctic plant in warm weather, it's only going to work for so long. If she falls ill or gets injured too badly, the green glow that edges her paws will fade and she won't be able to call up even the smallest blade of grass. Also when she is in this condition, the moss on her antlers will appear to shrivel and turn a brownish color. Thankfully, this isn't often a problem and Akello can use her power over nature to decorate anything she wishes.Quirks: --She is very strong. Having to haul those heavy stone antlers around all the time has given her quite the endurance. So much so that she's never noticed the weight of them. Any ordinary fox would collapse in moments if they tried to carry them proudly as she does.
--Her ears allow very little movement. In order to hear things better, she has to swivel her head towards sounds rather than just her ears like a normal fox would do. Because of this, she's often turning her head all around.
--Thanks to her slit pupils, Akello has exceptional and colored night vision. In fact, she can practically see just as well in the dark as she can in broad daylight.
--She has befriended and named most of the creatures in her forest such as birds and squirrels. It is not uncommon for her to speak to them at any given time. She acts like they are talking to her as well. Whether they are or not...nobody knows. Somehow, she can tell the animals apart without even looking at them.
--Akello often has full blown conversations with herself about nothing in particular. She may start reciting a memory, singing a song, telling herself a story, or arguing with no one at all at any given time. Those who see this behavior can quickly come to the conclusion that she's not right in the head.
--She is exceptionally good at stalking about in the shadows, only being seen if she wants to. Even though she is a very large fox, she seems to have no trouble slipping through the undergrowth, not disturbing a single leaf as she passes.═══════════════════════════════════════════
Current life:
xxxxxAkello nearly had to hold her breath to keep herself from laughing. She lie on a sturdy limb, the vibrant leaves all around her hiding her from view. Far below her, the earth indented, forming a tiny valley. The sound of paws moving through grass was the only noise in the forest besides the birdsong. A fox with an orange pet stumbled around the dip, looking lost. They had gone a few laps around the area, trying to decide which way to go. Eventually, they groaned and let their legs buckle, slumping to the ground. As they lay there, the birds found other things to do and let the forest fall into silence.
xxxxxAfter several long moments of trying to clear the amusement from her voice, Akello spoke to the creature below her "You should go towards that rock. The one that looks like a melting fish" Immediately, they raised their head and swung it around, nervously seeking the owner of the voice. Delicately, Akello shifted her position to make absolutely sure that she was invisible. After a bit of searching in vain, they murmured a 'who's there?', a hint of fear in their voice. A wide smile on her face, the fox in the tree held her tongue.
xxxxxAgain, the silence stretched on. Eventually, the animal below rose to their paws and stepped towards the mentioned rock. They walked to it as if they expected it to explode, yet when they reached it nothing happened "Keep going" she urged. She could see the wheels in the fox's brain turning as they tried to decide if they should obey the mysterious voice. She let herself giggle at their hesitation before standing herself. Gently, she walked among the thick branches that hung over the valley, carefully choosing her path so that not a patch of her fur could be seen. As she casually strolled around the indent, she occasionally turned her head in such a way that her antlers caught a certain twig, making its leaves shake. Unnerved by the noise, the orange fox hurried off where they had been told, unaware that Akello followed them from above.
xxxxxEventually, the branches were unwilling to carry her weight. She slid to the ground, silently pacing the lost fox "Quick, right!" She hissed sharply. Alarmed from the sudden voice on their left, they wheeled in the opposite direction, quickening their pace. She stopped, watching them hurry off into the woods, waiting for something as a smile grew on her face. Hardly a moment later, she heard them cry out and then a large splash. Slowly, she strolled in the direction they had gone, paws stopping perfectly on the place where the ground suddenly fell away. Below her, the fox floundered in a small, but deep pool of murky water. It only took them a few moments to clamber out, their fur now clinging to their body and making them seem scrawny. Not wanting to stick around, they didn't wait for any directions before rushing off into the undergrowth. Akello leapt down from her place, hind paws splashing in the water. Scared again by the sudden noises, the orange fox raced ahead.
xxxxxCheerfully, Akello began to trot after the fleeing animal. She enjoyed it when visitors ran away. They were easier to trick that way. Her optimism took a blow, though, when she realized the shadows from the trees above had started to grow scarce. As she looked around in disappointment, it became clear that things had moved faster than she expected. This was the edge of her territory. She wandered up to the tree that announced exactly where the woods ended and opened up into a rocky field, sitting at its roots. Her head tilted to the side, she watched the fox scamper off until the hills concealed them. It had been fun while it lasted, but she couldn't linger. She had tilted her head just enough to pick up the sound of more paws crashing through her forest. Her wide smile returned and she spun around, heading back where she came. How lucky of her to get two visitors in one day!
