Orphan's Name: Justice

Adoptive Parent(s) Name (and Username(s) of those who own them): ;-; I don't own any xD

Personality of Orphan: Justice is a very shy JBD but once she gets comfortable around you, she can be the best companion. Justice secretly hates being lonely and wishes she could find a home soon. She loves bright lights, that's why July 4th is her favorite holiday. Justice can force a smile that you'll believe but she is really screaming for help on the inside.
(The color is closest to white that I could get in order for you to actually see the writing.)

Story of Orphan: Justice was dropped off at the orphanage with a note reading "Please take care of our dear child. Her name is Justice." when she was young. She grew up at the orphanage but nobody wanted her because she was too shy to talk to her interviewers. This year Justice collected extra change off the streets all year until the fourth of July came so she could buy fireworks. Justice was settled in a legal place for fireworks in her foster home so she was excited to finally set off fireworks and not just see them in the distance. When Justice went back her her foster home her foster parent took the fireworks and threw them away. Justice sat in front of her foster care parent listening to her yelling. Justice didn't understand why she was yelling but soon stood to her feet and ran out of the door. She rushed to the firework show 20 miles away. By the time she got there she was exhausted. Justice looked above her to see sparkling stars of hope. In this moment, Justice felt nothing but awe. A couple days later, she was moved to another foster home. This time, her foster parent was much more kind. It was the fireworks that did this, Justice thought proudly. From then on, she went to different firework shows every year wishing at every pop it made.

Interview with parent(s): I don't own any JBS' so therefore Idk if I'm able to adopt her or what?

Personality of Orphan:
Summary
Elias Smith is, at the first glance when he walks down the street, a cold and distanced Bean that can be very intimidating when compared to other children around his age group, or even some of the children that have the same circumstances as he does; being orphaned. He doesn't mean to give off an air that says "I'm not your friend, and I don't want to be" but he tends to get lost within the confines of his own mind, specifically his thoughts so he is not mistaken for a day dreamer or someone with their head simply lost in the clouds. Usually, even when he is paying attention to his surroundings and conversing with other children, he does not tend to get loud or to use many words. The reason behind this is rather unclear, but Elias shows no interest in the same things that Beans in his age group often like; toys, stories, games. All of it is lost on his matured mind, and usually while the kids he was conversing with play a game of their own imagination or something as traditional as hopscotch Elias will go over to settle by the parents in silence. More often than not, his presence among the adults makes them hesitate to continue their usual conversation, but eventually they mistake Elias for being tired and not paying any attention to them when that is far from the case; his pointed ears are listening in on their conversation even as his eyes are ahead on the others playing their games. He says nothing during his time of settling among the grown-ups, instead taking the time to listen in on matters that don't concern someone of his age so that he can get more of a grasp on what is on their minds. Some call this antisocial, as it has earned the occasional concerned question to his guardian when he doesn't play the "childish" games of the other Beans, but it is just the way of Elias Smith. He doesn't get the same enjoyment that children do when it comes to their imagination; Elias strongly enjoys watching others play and enjoy themselves, though he cannot relate since he prefers to simply walk with his guardian and....well, he couldn't stay an innocent observer, because whenever he can sneak away to play with things that are combustible he has a tendency to set things on fire. Nothing to a dangerous extent, as he hasn't ever set a building on fire or another person, but Elias does enjoy burning things. He's a pyromaniac, and Fourth of July is literally the greatest holiday in the world for him due to the fact that it gives him an excuse to light things on fire and cause harmless explosions of color that other people can enjoy too.

In Depth
Observant
In the simplest of phrases, Elias Smith is the type of child that would rather watch other children play and have fun than he would to actually join them and participate in the games the young minds of Bean in his age group could come up with or learned from their parents (or other sources). Watching people is a habit of his; he enjoys studying their mannerisms, how they act in different types of situations, and learning about those that he might not actually meet in a formal manner and converse with. Observing people and getting an idea of what they do, as well as being able to meet new people and already have an idea of how they are going to behave from seeing other people with the same personality type as the new person, are things that Elias happens to enjoy. They give him confidence and a sense of preparation to deal with people, which is better than insecurity and the habit of shying away from social situations.
Quiet
He is a boy of few words, if he happens to use any in the presence of a group of people, and Elias finds that being quiet is far more comfortable for him than using his vocal cords and participating in a conversation. As stated above, he enjoys just observing others interact and go about their day more than being a part of the day and contributing to socialization. This doesn't mean that he does his best to avoid talking to other people and taking his place in a discussion, nor does he feel overly uncomfortable or insecure in a situation that expects him to speak, but he finds that being social with anyone - people he likes or people he dislikes - takes up energy that he would prefer to be used for other activities that might benefit him more. His voice is soft, hushed even, as though he doesn't have confidence in the words he speaks when that is the opposite of the case; Elias Smith wouldn't offer his input if he didn't feel like his words held weight and actually made sense instead of being the excited ramblings of a child.
Thoughtful
Elias often spends time within the confines and the privacy of his own mind, pondering different thoughts that cross into his attention. Usually when he is walking from one place to another, while watching for any danger and making sure that he doesn't end up getting seriously hurt by something, he will allow a serious subject to be drawn to his attention and address the facts that he knows about it, then ponder how he feels about the issue so that he can form an opinion of his own on the matter. This thought process is no childish game of 'Because I said so!' or 'Because I like it!' but rather a thorough process of forming opinions far more mature than someone his age should have. He often dwells on things more than he probably should, and sometimes gives things a deeper meaning than was actually intended for them.
Mature
If someone stopped to compare him to other children around the same age, or even some younger or older, they would notice that Elias is more mature than the average child his age or even near it. They would notice that he doesn't play games, imaginary or otherwise, but is content to sit among the parents and observing guardians while the other kids participate in games and simply enjoy the careless wonders of being a child. But Elias Smith does not take part in being someone without worries, walking with obliviousness to the problems of the world around him, and in a discussion his maturity becomes even more noticeable with his vocabulary and manner of speaking. Something that seems to often catch other adults off guard is the fact that Elias holds opinions that are more advanced than the typical child's usual decision-base, such as when they base their opinions off of liking something or from hearing their parents say they preferred it one way or the other, but he actually looks at the points of both sides, gets a grasp on the facts, and even gets another person's opinion to see what points they may have collected that he missed. The fact that he knows more about serious matters than some teenagers do is simply mind blowing to adults that don't really know Elias, and often when they first converse with him one can watch the surprise appear on their face, starting with their eyes and even moving to their lips.
Clingy
This is probably the most childish trait within his personality, but he has good reason for this. Elias suffers from separation anxiety in regards to his father or his friend, Shark, and if he goes through extensive periods of time without any form of contact from either of them he tends to panic. Sometimes he will walk between the legs of his family members, or curl his tail around their own as a way of maintaining contact and providing himself with some comfort. He uses contact as a way of grounding himself when in unfamiliar, crowded places; his anxiety starts to build and build, fear of getting separated from his friend or his loved ones rising and to keep himself from panicking Elias will often seek a form of contact or even go so far as to walk between the larger Beans' legs. This can be seen by outsiders who don't know him as a child simply striving to be annoying for their family, but for those that know Elias they would understand that this is a sign of unease in the situation he is in, and his actions are only happening out of a desire for the young Bean to find comfort.
Curious
As is a common trait for the young that have not had much time to explore the world, or those that have but just haven't gotten enough knowledge and experience to be satisfied, Elias is a curious boy. Sometimes his quest for knowledge overrules his anxiety when it comes to being away from the people he knows and loves, and that lack of anything holding him back from separating from his family can lead to the occasional troubling adventure - the trouble being on his father's side, when the daddy cannot find his son. The worst thing about his curiosity is that it tends to make him drift off into vast expanses of land, such as a forest or even a mountain area, but his curiosity is limited in the presence of heavily populated areas such as cities. He doesn't feel the sheer need to discover something new in an area ruled by concrete, cars, and crowds that he feels when faced with trees stretching dozens of feet above his head, and a forest floor littered with small hidden creatures as well as unique leaves. So, in short, his curiosity is most active in places that are ruled by nature instead of civilization, and he can cause trouble by not telling his friends or his family that he is going off on a spur of the moment exploration.
Honest
Elias is the type of child to know that the truth has consequences and sometimes it is better to lie than to tell the truth, but in pretty much all situations he speaks with honesty. He learned to give it to a person honestly both from his family and from his friend, Shark, who is bold enough that he calls people out on their faults when it is necessary, and he thinks that telling someone the truth is a very admirable thing. Not to say that there aren't times where Elias Smith could have told the truth and he chose to be a good and honest boy, as he is no golden child that simply cannot bear to do the wrong thing every now and then, but for the majority of the times that he speaks, he relies entirely on the truth. When he does lie, one can tell because his toes will lightly bit into the floor or the ground when he tells the opposite of the truth, and even towards the end of his sentence his voice might crack. But one would have to know him to be able to tell these signs instead of just mistaking them for things that Elias does normally.
Story of Orphan:
Fireworks spread out across the sky in beautiful red, white, and blue displays while the lonely child watched in admiration. But the distraction did not serve its purpose of keeping him from the task at hand; he was all alone in a world of darkness, with tall grass standing at his chest and no light other than the brief celebratory displays when they soared through the night and spread out among the stars. Elias Smith stood up and slipped one of his paws into his pouch, feeling around in search of his beloved lighter so that he could have a continuous source of light. To his surprise everything that he usually contained inside of his built-in pocket was not available, as if someone had gone through special lengths to make sure that he had nothing but fireworks to guide him, and he hesitated with the darkness so heavy. It would be a miracle if he didn't trip over something hidden in the grass and fall flat on his face in the dirt and he couldn't feel relieved that Shion and Shark weren't there to see it; he'd rather be with them and embarrassing himself than being all alone with no idea where he was, though the place looked familiar. With no lighter and no father to guide him back to the safety of his bed, Elias began walking despite having knowing the basic rule in a horror movie was not to go wandering alone. He didn't have that many options left and it seemed like there would be no change in progress if he didn't start walking.

The familiar smell of food grilling at his grandparents' house in the back yard filled his nostrils like a cartoon finger beckoning him along a hidden path through the weeds, making his eyes grow lidded from the comfort that came with something familiar. Emerging from the ground as though they were flowers ready to suddenly bloom, sparklers came forth and provided a beautiful white glow that acted the same as the light of the moon; lighting the earth with a pale, almost haunting glow. Elias had never really favored sparklers over other types of fireworks; he'd preferred things such as the tanks or even the ladybugs if one was going to stick to the small fireworks. But he'd also not favored them over the things that really light up the sky; the fire that screamed when it first came out of its hiding place, and lit up the starts so everyone from miles away could see the display. "Da!" He made the first attempt to call for his father, ears perking as he listened for even a distance response that would let him know he had been heard and that Shion would be coming to his rescue, but he was greeted by a disheartening silence. His shoulders slumping, Elias insisted that he couldn't let the lack of results get to him; his grandparents' house was bound to come up shortly, so he would most likely find his father there.

He found the outside of the fence surrounding the backyard, but it was also in that moment Elias discovered the grass was not tall, but he was actually smaller than before - smaller than he was in the waking world. That explained why he wasn't carrying any of his usual items in his pouch; he was younger. But how young? Did Shion know about him? The thought of once again being forced to fend for himself struck a chord deep within Elias' chest, causing him to catch and hold his breath, and the mere idea of his father not being his father anymore scared him. You're getting ahead of yourself, stop it. Elias insisted as the logical side of his brain took over to ensure his survival, a chilling wave of numbness washing over him. This was what Shion had first discovered during his job; a child ruled by common sense and the will to live, brushing everything else aside. One paw after the other, he began pulling himself up on one of the boards making up the fence and when he finally reached the top he threw his weight over it. The ground was further down than he had remembered and he hit it hard, the breath rushing from his lungs and making tears spring forth to his eyes. He'd always had a fear of not being able to breathe and experiencing it now when he was all alone was more than terrifying enough to make the child want to sob like a newborn baby despite how he'd tried to revert back to the chilling thing that he had once been.

Ahead of him was the house of his beloved grandparents, looking more like a skyscraper than a house for his loved ones, and he could hear a monstrous crash of paws against the earth as something or someone walked around the yard in front of him. Elias stayed in place out of fear of whatever was making the noise and shaking the ground finding him, his heart starting to pound faster and faster while his imagination was kicked into action. In the place of either of his grandfathers, or even his aunt or uncles, he could see a dark monster with large fangs too big to allow its mouth to close and glowing, soulless eyes. Its large head was moving around, searching the grass to try and find the young Bean with every intention of capturing him and using him like a delicious snack. He didn't want to be devoured whole and so Elias rolled onto his stomach, trying to make himself as small as possible while his tail curled around his body. A soft, reflexive sniffle escaped without his permission and he thought that it was all the creature would need to find him; the thundering footsteps got closer until the grass was parting, and his beautiful blue eyes went wide. He could recognise the ring on his father's finger any day of the week, the sight even making his heart jump with joy. Elias scrambled to his feet like a puppy experiencing wooden floors for the first time, stumbling and even tripping over his own feet before he took off towards his father.

He was not permitted to reach Shion though, and the lengthy blades of grass wrapped around his back legs to start pulling him away and ensure that he couldn't reach the safety of his dad. "Da! Da!" Elias Smith cried out to Shion in hopes that he would save him from the grass, but it didn't seem like the elder could hear him. Tears once again emerged in his eyes and soon the edges of his vision were going black.

The world was silent when Elias returned to the waking world, a sharp intake of breath being heard the only introduction he gave to the evening air. He was, like in his dream, crying from the sudden fear of his parent not hearing him or even daring to ignore him. Rolling out of bed was the easiest thing he had ever done, the plush carpet welcoming his toes as if they knew he had not slept well, but Elias was not paying any attention to them. The child pushed open his door without caring about how much noise it made, his limbs shaking and his movements jerky, and he made his way down the hall on unsteady legs. It took him a few tries to get the door to Shion's bedroom open, as if his fingers were unable to actually grasp the knob, but he shoved the door open and stepped inside of the room. Without explaining what was wrong or even hesitating, Elias crawled into his father's bed and beneath the bed sheets so that he could try and make his way to his father's pouch for any bit of security he could get.

Interview with parent(s):
What made you decide to adopt a child?
"It was the look in the kids eye when I found 'em. Can't say I ever saw a babe like 'em, specially when he confronted me 'bout my information gatherin'. 's a smart kid, and got guts. Reminded me a bit 'bout myself at El's age."
How did you first meet Elias? Did he already have his name by then?
"Course he gotta a name, but the kid didn't remember most of it... Heh. It was a pretty interestin' time tryin' to figure it out."
You're a single father, does raising a child all on your own ever get to be too much?
"Ah... But I don't regret it. It was a decision I made with a lotta thought, and my fathers an' siblin's are a constant support. Love 'em to bits."
What do you believe is the best part about being a father?
"Gettin' ta know the shrimp. He may be a kid, but he's still his own person. 's pretty awesome, 'specially when he teaches me 'bout things I ain't never heard before."
What, in your opinion, is the worst part about being a father?
"Worst? Naw, there's nothin' too bad I'd say, but since I adopted 'em I've always wanted to just... Stay with 'em ya know? Don't like bein' gone too long from my kid. Also don't like the pity strangers keep sendin' my way when they find out 'm a single father. Makes me pretty frustrated, since my kid and I am fairing just fine together. Wanna nip that stereotype in the bud..."
You have a job that could be pretty demanding, don't you? What do you do when you have to go to work and cannot bring Elias?
"Mmh. My job takes a lot 'a my time, but my family's usually 'round to help. If they ain't my family friend Mouse's always willin' to lend a hand - says she enjoys company when she's cuttin' bean's hair, and her daughter Yoichi's a good playmate."
What about Elias' grown friend, Shark? Do you feel comfortable with their friendship?
"Shark? Ah, he's a good guy for his position. I trust 'em with my kid even if he's a bit... Eccentric. If Shark did somethin' that harmed 'em though I'd ruin 'em - I have the power, an he knows it. Don't wanna though, he's got spunk."
Do you worry about Elias' quiet nature?
"At times. Won't pester 'em to change it though 'les it becomes a problem; it's just who he is."
Relationships:
Shion - Father
Of course Elias loves his daddy with all of his heart; his father is his world, always there to protect him and make his nightmare go away. He sees his adoptive father as a hero that should be admired; strong, unstoppable, a fierce warrior that will let him crawl onto his back and rest between his shoulder since that's his beloved perch whenever they go somewhere or are among family. Elias is not afraid to let other people know the identity of his father, nor has he ever been embarrassed by the way Shion talks or acts around people; he's entirely proud to be Shion's son and even tries to meet new people just so that they can know who's child he is, and meet his father. He seeks Shion's approval, though he doesn't make overly desperate attempts as he doesn't need to, and he will do everything he can to keep his father from being disappointed in him. The only time Elias has ever actually attempted to get into Shion's pouch is when he has nightmares that have grown far too strong for him to handle on his own, the aftermath being the small and quiet baby trying to crawl into his father's pouch to feel warm and safe.
Howl - Grandfather
His first grandfather is someone that Elias Smith greatly enjoys being around; his seemingly forever positive attitude, be he smiling or laughing, is something that can bring the young Bean's mood up from any bad areas it might have drifted to. He is absolutely fascinated by the fact that Howl knows three languages, entirely curious about his ability to speak sign language and he always enjoys watching the elder Bean speak in anything besides English. But Elias is not entirely blinded by his love and adoration for his grandfather, nor does he allow himself to think that Howl is harmless because the elder is always smiling or laughing; he sees that there is something beneath the surface, some kind of storm brewing that is ready to break free and reign terror on someone who has done what the adult believes is wrong. Elias makes a point to not make his grandfather angry or do something bad that he thinks Howl will find out about, because he fears the storm that he has yet to ever see directed at anyone. Other than that, he believes his grandfather is just a big, happy, emotional teddy bear that he loves to cuddle and hug.
Roxas - Grandfather
Elias loves his second grandfather! There is nothing that fills him with more pride than being able to go around to those who only have one, or no grandfather (as in they come from homosexual couples), and saying that he has two! Roxas is quiet like he is, and it's always nice to know that no matter what happens he has his grandfather ready to come and protect him with tooth and claw....not to mention the sharp looking sword-thing that he was probably not supposed to know about. He likes being close to his grandfather even if they don't talk, often just preferring to intertwine their tails even if he feels very comfortable in the presence of his family members.
Beat - Elder Uncle
((Due to being unable to contact the owner as well as a lack of response from someone else who knows Beat's personality, I am unable to describe their relationship))
Rea - Elder Aunt
To Elias Smith, Rea is probably his favorite sibling of his father - though, he would be utterly mortified if his uncles knew that, since he never wants to hurt the feelings of his family members. Though she can be wary of people and things, Elias absolutely adores her, and as the only aunt, daughter, and sister of the family she has no rivals for her place as the favored lady relative. Elias greatly enjoys laying beside Rea and playing with the accessory that adorns her neck, batting at it like an excited kitten and he will occasionally raise his hand to touch the pendant that hangs from the center, towards her chest. When he is sleepy at a family gathering, if his father is busy, Elias prefers to come and cuddle up to Rea for a nice nap.
Shenji - Younger Uncle
When Elias first met Shenji, the air his youngest uncle gave off said that he was an intimidating, unfriendly presence, but as he got to know his uncle he found that was not the case at all! As it turns out, his uncle is very easy going and friendly to those within his own inner circle - family especially - but only reserved to those that are outside of the circle. He is the type of person to go with the flow and take life one day at a time instead of worrying and running around like a chicken with his head cut off about something that is going to occur next week, or the week after that, which is also something that Elias likes about the youngest of his two uncles. Though he doesn't agree with Shenji's gambling habit, as he views gambling a toss of money for just the rush of a chance at winning and then blowing all the winnings to try and win more, he does love his uncle dearly and enjoys seeing the street art that Shenji creates. When he was a bit younger, he did happen to have the bad habit of trying to bite the little rainbow tag Shenji wears on a chain around his neck, and he was always trying to investigate his uncle's horns, but he has grown out of those habits.
Siren "Shark" Rigel Llyr - Close Friend
Shark is one of the few people that Elias considers his family member despite not being related by blood, adopted or otherwise, and he looks up to the other Bean. He finds that coming to the elder Bean to hear his opinions on other matters is an activity that helps him make up his own decisions from another person's point of view, preferring to come to Shark for advice over issues that he isn't very sure about himself. There are times when Elias worries for his older friend, since Shark can be convinced to do things for other people and he's always worried that someone will take advantage of the elder's kindness, but he also knows that his friend can handle himself and is not afraid to call others out on their flaws - but he doesn't do so for fun, or just to do it. Though, after his first experience with prying into Shark's past out of curiosity, Elias has made a silent vow to not try to pry his friend for more information that the other is willing to give him in his own time.
What's in Elias' Pouch?:
  • Image
As he has an unhealthy love for fire and being the cause of flames, Elias carries an old fashioned lighter in his pocket at all times. When he first got it, it had been decorated in finger smudges and scratches, but after learning how to polish and properly return the watch to mint condition he has gotten the item into the best condition its been in since the day that the lighter was made. It is his secret pride and joy that he wants to show adults and children alike so that he can let them observe how clean and well maintained it is as well as how unique of a lighter it is in general; a shiny golden watch with a flame that burns bright and strong is always something that he's going to want to show, but after a bad encounter with a grown-up trying to take his lighter away he doesn't run around trying to show anyone and everyone that will look.
  • Image
One secret about Elias that many people wouldn't guess when first looking at him, lost in his serious thoughts with a focused expression across his features, is that he has quite the sweet tooth in regards to one type of treat; pocky. He favors the chocolate sticks of pocky over any other flavor and will politely deny any offers when someone tries to get him to eat the treat in a strawberry flavor, since he doesn't respond well to it; he isn't allergic to strawberries, but something about their texture makes him freak out and the flavor is connected to the feeling. Whenever someone tries to play the pocky game with him, he tends to get greedy and eat the whole treat before they could properly begin to play the game.
  • Image
Within the safety of his pouch is one of the first gifts that he had ever received from Shark; it is a plush jellyfish, small in size but the softest toy that Elias owns, and it is a pale shade of purple with a stitched on smiley face. He takes it everywhere, believing that it is a good luck charm and he often uses it as a secret source of comfort when even contact with his family or his friends cannot fully soothe him. Though only Shion and Shark are aware of it, as they have been told by Elias himself, the jellyfish plushie is named Bubbles.

Re: Nursery Batch #705 - Forth of July Orphan (Open)

Postby PolarAzulTigris » Mon Aug 03, 2015 4:43 am

I just wanted to say I've heard there are some very ugly things going on with this Orphan bean. People are public shaming of each other; gloating; and right down black mail.
Please be polite to your peers; if they follow the rules there is no point of shaming them! The only people that knew about this contest were staff and knew what I based this little one from; when I showed the chat I showed everyone equally on the process. No one was in favor of 'gaining' the upper hand and no one has my favor. If they win; it's by talent alone. There are many people I get along with in this fanclub; that does not mean they automatically win. I willl be keeping tabs who is spreading rumors and that might effect your placement in the contest. Just as a reminder this is for a character; getting into fights with your peers is not worth that. I will not view it as such. So otherwise give good advice; keep it clean; keep it fun.

I just wanted to clear things up to make sure to have your form finished at midnight my time. Basically when it changes August 11th you are not able to edit your forms. This is for any last minute changes but they should be important ones just in case something messes up. =p
