Encouraging Bermingham:
"I'm going out to feed the horses!!" The girl shouts to her parents, heading out the door, and pulling on her coat with a piece of peanut butter toast in her mouth. She would always share a bite of her toast with one of the tolters in the barn. Whoever she was closest to when she was almost finished with it.
"Start with Bermingham, he had a horrible day in training yesterday." Her father shouted after her.
"I will!!" She promised, jumping down the porch steps and casually walking towards the training barn. She opened the small side door and walked in, flicking the lights on. It was early, most of the staff weren't even here yet. She liked it when she was alone with all the horses. She felt that she connected better with them when everything was quiet and peaceful. She was greeted with a few nickers from a couple horses.
She passed a few stalls before finding Bermingham. He looked incredibly depressed. He was one of those misunderstood souls that just needed some care. She talked to him, cooing his named softly and clucking to him. His ears swiveled to listen to her. She set a large piece of her toast on the stall door and clicked to him again. "Bermmy, c'mon, look what I brought you." She said softly.
He turned his head and looked at her, he was still clearly upset, but his ears swiveled forwards and when he saw that treat on his door he lifted his head. The girl smiled. "That's a good boy, come here, that's for you." She told him.
he took a few steps forward and streached his neck and his lips, not willing to move out of his dark corner, and nabbed the piece of toast from the stall door. She giggled. "Your such a good boy Berm." The girl told him.
She then left his stall door to begin the morning feeding.
