Favorite flavor:
Dyan grew up on a small farm. Her childhood was spent running around the farm, chasing the birds and picking fruit off of her family's specialty crop: cherries. She lived her life in the cherry groves. Her favorite food, however, was not actually the succulent fruit -she disliked the pits- but instead the cherry pie her mother would cook. Of course, everyone knows that cherry pie is best eaten warm. In the heat of the summer, warm cherry pie was always just too hot. Summer begs for cold desserts, not for warm pies! What ever was Dyan to do?
It was at a local county fair when she discovered the glorious solution: she stumbled into a stall where someone was pouring red stuff over...what was that, ice? The smell hit her nose a moment later. Cherry! She waited in the short line, trying to see what exactly this stuff was. When she got to the front, she handed over the money, and was soon cradling a cherry snow cone in her small paws. The moment of truth: Dyan took a bite of the chilly dessert.
It was delicious.
Since that day, Dyan has been living off of cherry snow cones- a solution to the dearth of pies in the summer, and ode to her family's cherry-making history. The sweetness of this dessert never fails to make her smile, and always reminds her of her home, even these years later.
