Name: Eostra, Es ("S")
Gender: Mare
Companion: Button, a buck blacktail deer
Personality: Eostra is a calm, sturdy authority. She likes to relax and is generally mellow, but she also loves to explore new territories. She loves being part of a herd and just thinking of many strong individuals coming together to live in harmony and make a very powerful herd.
Eostra loves to be part of the group and be involved in many activities. She's very open minded, and often, even if she doesn't like that activity, she'll accompany a friend just so they can enjoy it. She thinks of others much more than herself, and will often put herself in danger in attempt to free another of it.
Eostra never abandons a friend or tries to hurt someone in any way. It kills her to see others suffer, and will try to step in an argument and attempt to calm two Chrysoaras down. And even though she may be left by a traitor and hurting from it, she'll allow another chance to be given. She is a strong believer in 'everyone makes mistakes'.

Eostra has always had a lingering 'mother' instinct, despite not bearing foals at the time. However, her instincts became enhanced when she came across a tiny fawn, lost without it's mother. She was lucky to have spotted him in the thick foliage, otherwise he'd have been crushed by her or left to the wolves. Another thing she noticed was the horrible stench that hung around him. It smelled of gunpowder and blood. Death. This fawn's mother, taken by a trophy hunter.
Eostra urged him to his frail legs and continued to nudge him forward, taking him away from his past and into his new home. She caught a glimpse of a disturbed streak though the dirt, where the mother had been dragged away. She had to make sure before she took the offspring, that she was not taking him from his mother. But she was gone.
The fawn immediately accepted Eostra as his mother, and doesn't ask about his deer mother. Eostra is his family and she cherishes him like her own. The little buck's name emerged as Button, because she always thought he was as cute as one.
Eostra is fairly formal and wouldn't have accepted a nickname if it weren't for Button. When he first uttered her name, he only managed "Es", which became an acceptable nickname that she doesn't mind being called, even by from others and not just the fawn.
Because Button is still a fawn, Eostra has become more protective. She always gives him space, but when someone approaches with negative intentions, she'll intervene.
Button and Eostra have an intense bond. They see each other as something closer than family, and even though Button lost his birthmother, he does not sulk or marvel at the days he had her. His current family is all he needs.
Button, unlike Eostra, is bouncy and playful. His curiousity always shines though, and will continue to into his noble years of adulthood. Luckily, Eostra's mellow nature has taught him boundaries and has kept him from getting into trouble he can't get out of. If it weren't for Es, he'd wander right towards a burly stallion in a bad mood or a pack of savage wolves.
Even though Eostra is calm and collected, she'll play with Button to increase his agility and stamina skills, which is essential for surviving. She tries extra hard to teach him to graze on tree bark and does her best in leaping, because this is what deer do, and therefore it's something he must learn, even if he doesn't have a deer to teach it to him.
All in all, they are a functional family with a bond that others can only dream of.
