RHM #37: Dark Dapple Grey

Postby Penultima » Fri Mar 20, 2015 2:37 pm

For this pristine mare, pick one of the three options and answer it in your form:
1) Tell me her personality, the more detail and creativity the better.
2) draw, color in or sketch a picture of her.
3) Tell me a story about an adventure she went on as a foal.

Will end when enough entries are finished.

Please only post a WIP or reserve post if you are actually planning on finishing your form!

Answer or Art: Personality:
Dove is what you could call a hopeless romantic. She's always trying to find a stallion to win her heart but when she gets with one, she ends up leaving when another catches her eyes. She can't settle with just one handsome boy and that causes her a lot of issues at the stable. Most stallions that she's been with, constantly snap and nip at each other as they argue about the mare and her choices over the other. It gets out of hand and this girl isn't aloud to be near many of the boys anymore. She's put out in her own pasture or with other mares with the nagging stallions away from her. Even though Dove is a hopeless romantic overall she is known to be rather talkative and noisy. She can't keep her muzzle shut for more than a second and finds herself getting snapped at by other equines to shut her mouth here and there. It doesn't phase the mare at all as she's been used to it for so long. As well she's very independent and doesn't like things done for her. She likes to do it herself since to her if she has help, it's a sign of weakness. The mare is as well very compassionate towards her family and few friends she has. She takes good care of them and always gets them things whether it be an apple she's found to a flower petal in a field, she always takes care of them on every holiday if one is forgotten. She wants everyone to feel loved even if she can't get it from a permanent stallion. It keeps her spirits high and her family and friends with filled up hearts. Lastly, this young mare is as stubborn as a mule when it comes to her inexperienced riders. Dove is that mare who wants to be in charge around newbies and that never ends well. Her handlers have even put a sign up on her stall with the words: "Do Not Let New Riders Ride". She's that mare who when told to trot, full out gallops or even stops, refusing to do the command. It has resulted in small cracks of a whip to get her moving but as well, that doesn't end well. She ends up bucking or lashing out. She though is completely different when it comes to her experienced riders. She's very obedient and gentle as she knows they know how to control her if she steps out of line unlike newer riders. Overall though, this mare is just a big fireball of energy when it comes to her personality.

Answer: One and 1/2 years ago...

I woke up to find my mother, Buttercup, nuzzling me.
"Get up," she whispered urgently. I wobbled to my spindly foal legs. She slowly started walking away, waiting for me to catch up. I followed her through the pitch-black darkness. I had no idea where we were going, and I don't think my mom knew either. Her pretty chestnut mane got tangled in the bushes and left knots stuck to them, for we were as good as blind. Why were we leaving the herd? I was confident that Mother wasn't carrying a foal; her belly wasn't swollen. Maybe she had decided she liked being a lone mare. I hated being alone. I had my own little group of foal friends, and I wasn't about to leave them behind.
I bucked up my heels and wheeled around, trotting back towards the herd. Or, where I thought the herd was. We couldn't see, and so had no clue to where we had come from.
"Mom?" I nickered. "Mo-om! Where are you?" I had wandered so far that I couldn't hear her snorts. I was well and truly lost. I hear a faint rustling noise coming from a dry bush. It was too small to be Mother- so then, what could it be?
As soon as I heard it, a mountain lion leapt out of the foliage, its muscles bulging underneath its sleek fur. I squealed and tried to run, but my baby legs got tangled and I tripped. My tiny head bumped the ground, and I lapsed into unconsciousness. The last thing I saw before it all faded away was a huge shape coming out of the darkness- Mother!
When I woke up, I saw Mom leaning over me, licking my gashes. The puma had run away after she kicked it good, but it had been able to sink its dagger-like claws into my back. Eventually, I healed, and the scars faded away. I never forgot that night, and I never figured out where exactly my mother and I were going. I don't really care, because I'm happy just to be alive!

hello, bonjour
please call me believe

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.
