Name: 鮭 Sake, meaning salmon. She reminds me a lot of salmon and the different types of sushi made with it.
Gender: Trans Female
Sexuality & Them: Sake is a bisexual female mainly attracted to male plumies, though masculine females are not excluded. She was misunderstood growing up for having a crush on the tough girl in school, so she's a closet bisexual and keeps her crushes to herself. One of her biggest issues with this is she's found herself attracted to someone she holds dear to her heart, and she finds herself wishing she were not because she likes being his friend.
If given the choice, Sake would change who she is in a heartbeat just to stay her crush's friend.
{95/100}Describe their Bedroom: You walk down a short hallway, ending up in front of a rice paper wall. It looks normal enough, no decorations visible by their shadows, except something hanging from the ceiling. A knock on the doorframe by your hand prompts a cheery response of 'come in' from the room's occupant.
After a moment's hesitation you slide the door aside and walk in. Hanging from the ceiling are one thousand paper cranes exactly, the plumerian tells you when you look up. You look at her, at her octopus plush and interesting vest choice. She was as normal and exotic as expected.
{100/100}Conversation: Open scene to Sake's bedroom. Yūyake is on the bed, playing with a stuffed octopus. Sake sits at her desk, folding a paper crane.
Yūyake: [speaking softly] Why do you have so many birds, Sake?
Sake: Do you know the story of Sadako Sasaki?
Yūyake: No. Would you tell me?
Sake: [smiles and turns from desk to face Yūyake] Sadako had a dream of world peace. Her home town, Hiroshima, was bombed and she got leukemia from the radiation. A legend says that whoever folds one thousand paper cranes gets a wish, so she tried her very hardest. Depending on who you hear the story from, she made somewhere from six hundred and sixty-four and thirteen hundred cranes.
Yūyake: [eyes wide in shock, voice breathy] Wow.
Sake: [grins, holds up finished golden crane] There's a statue of her in the Hiroshima Peace Park, holding a golden crane. I could take you if you want.
Yūyake: [bounces in excitement] Would you?
Sake: [laughs softly] Absolutely.
Yūyake: [jumps down from bed, hugs Sake] Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
Sake: You're welcome, little sis.
Yūyake: [leaves hug] You're the bestest unofficial big sister ever!
Sake: And you're the best unofficial little sister ever.
Yūyake: Will you take me at sunset and tell me the story of the pretty colors like Ebi?
Sake: [smiles and blushes] Sure, Yu.
Yūyake: Why does your voice turn a softer purple when we talk about Ebi, Sake?
Sake: I... [voice cracks] It's nothing, little sunset.
{250/250}About the Plushie: Orlando, the name of her plushie.
Coral, her mother who gave him to her.
Taiko, a hobby she does with him.
Osamu, the brother she never met.
Purple, the color of her voice to Yūyake.
Useful, what a best friend is.
Snuggles, what she needs him for daily.
{48/50}Hobby: Sake is a Taiko drummer. It doesn't sound all that glamorous, but she absolutely loves the sound of her drum.
To play, she takes up two drumsticks, stands on her hind paws, and starts to play a, usually joyful rhythm. She is quite skilled at this specific hidden talent.
{49/50}How they show Affection: Sake isn't a very touchy-feely person when she starts to have feelings for someone. She becomes very shy and quiet around them, often stuttering if even their name is mentioned in conversation. A simple hug will have her blushing madly, let alone and further displays of affection.
{47/50}One Quirk: Sake presses down on the paper carefully, her tongue poised just outside her mouth and resting at the corner.
"Almost... there..." she says softly, eyes narrowed in concentration.
Then they slide, leaving her staring at her nose.
"Not again!" she exclaims in exasperation.
{43/50}Breaking Point: Sake isn't the kind of person to get very upset over little things. However, seeing her crush upset does a number on her own attitude. If he were ever unhappy in any relationship, it would nearly destroy her and even make it difficult for her to console him.
{48/50}Childhood: I stand at the end of my neighbor's walkway, looking down at the smooth stones under my paws. Momma had wanted me to introduce myself to their son, only a year my senior. Even my feathers twitch with nerves as I start slowly down the walkway. I was barely six, but Momma wanted me to make some friends. So I was going to try.
When I finally make it into the small garden before the house, I notice a boy my age playing with numerous stuffed pandas. Our eyes meet, and my heart goes all fluttery.
Then we became friends.
{100/100}Irritation: The one thing I despise more than anything is when people make fun of things they don't understand! I'm different, big deal. You don't have the right to make fun of me because of it. Learn about something before you judge it, because you only end up showing your ignorance.
{50/50} Goals for the Future: Sake, like Sadako, has a goal of folding one thousand origami cranes before she turns eighteen. She has made magnificent headway, already over halfway done. Her total number of folded cranes thus far is roughly seven hundred and sixty-two. She only has a few more years to complete this goal.
