Igneel felt the cold surface of the concrete sidewalk beneath his feet, his eyes straying to the somber streets and dark alleyways. The moon was suspended above him, though dark clouds blotted it from view and heavy droplets of rain fell in the place of starlight. Valentines day, huh? Igneel neatly tucked in his wings, his raincoat doing little to defend him from the storm. Everyone else was inside, and the streets of the once busy city were ominously quiet...

Igneel noticed out of the corner of his eye something he thought to be a box moving about. Curiously he turned, though it was already gone. He could've sworn he saw it duck into a nearby alleyway, and so he followed, footfalls echoing through the dismal emptiness of the world around him.

The animated box was stalled at the end of a dark alleyway, panting heavily and obviously exhausted from moving it's vessel about freely. Igneel approached cautiously, one step at a time until he was standing directly before the small, shivering creature.

"Hello there, little one." Igneel smiled calmly, extending one paw. "Are you lonely? I am too..." He admitted. Despite the holiday being about couples, love and coming together... Igneel had no one. In the pink eyes of this strange child, he saw that same hollow loneliness he felt inside. With the rain pouring all around them, and the vast hollowness embracing them along with the darkness of the night... There they sat. Alone but ... together.

"What do you say?" The dragon offered a genuine, warm smile, his feathers radiating a heat that radiated directly from his cold heart. "I'll take care of you, no matter the circumstance. So..." He took a breath, thinking over these final words carefully in the split second he had.

"Let's go."

"Hey there. I'm Guavine, but call me whatever you feel comfortable with. Or if you don't like deciding on your own, Guava is fine. I don't know why you're under a box, and it's not my place to ask. If you feel like talking about it, I'm here for you. But the important thing is that you wouldn't be underneath the box unless you weren't scared. I don't know why you're scared. I want to say that you don't need to be scared, because no one is gonna hurt you. I love you. I know we don't know each other, but I love you and that's the truth. More importantly, I love you more than anyone could ever dislike or hate you. I'm small and sometimes the world doesn't seem fair because of that. But I stopped being afraid of the world and started loving it. You don't need to hurt anymore, or be scared. You can smile, you can love, because no one is too broken to love.

I've struggled with self image for a long time, especially when everyone around me started getting bigger and I didn't. It was rough and it was scary and sometimes I felt like the universe was just trying to make a joke out of me. I started not liking myself and I had a really rough few years. But then I realized something. There were mean people around me. But it didn't matter. No matter how awful someone was being to me, the only thing standing in my way of happiness was myself. I stopped hating the world and myself and I started loving it. You can't change the world through anger and you can't change it by being afraid. You are loved. And I'm going to make sure you know it."
