What is a Makoatl?
A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered
off the coast of the Greenland sea. They have the powerful tail
and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon.
They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-
adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat.
They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious
hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they
are very protective and mothering to their offspring,
as well as to each other the majority of the time.

We all know the cupcake has some significance to Chica, and in fnaf 1 the cupcake with eyes, which many think is an animatronic/camera, in the office has a lot of controversy around it. Why is it there? What is it's purpose?

Backstory:


Maybe the animatronics were never supposed to be given personality, certainly never expected to gain autonomy, but much like Freddy, Chica defied the odds in becoming entirely her own character. In the simplest of terms, Chica is clingy and cheerful, loving company and all kinds of foodstuffs. She was always the bubbliest and most positive of her group, but this easily led to her becoming the sharpest.
The keyboardist was never happy to be alone and stayed close to her closest friend Bonnie even when they were still active originally. She was never the favourite to the children, that place was firmly reserved for Freddy as their leader, but she certainly made up for it anyway with her amusing antics and exaggerated love of pizza. She often pretended as if she tried to steal the children's food from their plates, much to their great delight.

Perhaps Freddy's voice went first, but it was Chica who began to physically malfunction, with twitchy, almost glitch-like movements that went almost unnoticed until her servos froze up, leaving her immobile on the stage after their performance, had her freezing in unsettling positions around the place and scaring the children.
From there it was just a downwards spiral until Freddy's 'incident', until the Fazbear band were decommissioned, and the diner shut down for good.

When she became aware again, it was dark and her joints were stiff. She was alone, or so she thought in the darkness, no sign of Bonnie or even the others. Voices were nearby though, speaking of moving the animatronics to a new place. The diner was opening again, and they were bringing them all together again. She wasn't even sure if her voice would work anymore, surely the ticking movements would still plague her. Despite this, she pretended to be dormant as they came to collect her, perfectly willing to move so long as she would be reunited with the others.
None of the moving crew noticed the way her tail twitched in the dark building.

Freddy kept them safe, as she always had. The more troublesome night guards were chased away by the bear-mako, both peacefully and otherwise. It was Freddy who decided that, despite her camaraderie with the current night guard, the others needed a way to keep themselves safe, and Chica who proposed the camera idea. The cupcake would be a fail safe, a way to keep tabs on night guards if they were not as pleasant as the current. Though she had used it for fun a number of times, it had never been needed.
Chica was just glad of the company, afraid of returning to the abandoned darkness.

What's the story behind the cupcake?:


It, like the suspected parrot that forms the second head of the Mangle, was intended to be a secondary animatronic to aid Chica. Though they are often seen separately as well there is a major indicator of their link: the plushie of Chica in the Children's Play Area of FNAF2, which holds the cupcake included as a major part of the design even though things such as Bonnie's guitar are not, indicating its significance. Like the Mangle, Chica is able to see through the eyes of the secondary animatronic, though in this case it is more remote.
Here is where the office comes in — Chica is often seen peering into the cameras and, along with Bonnie, is capable of disabling both the cameras and the doors in the first game. So not only is she aware of the cameras the guards use to watch them, she understands them enough to be able to disable them, and so presumably enough to use them. She, or more likely Freddy as the ringleader of their group, clearly decided at some point that they wanted to watch the watcher, and what better way to do it than to place their own 'camera', Chica's cupcake animatronic. It wouldn't even need to drain the building's power like the guards', as it is likely powered by her own servomechanism.
Toy Chica carries it during her black-eyed pursuit stage as a second pair of eyes while she stalks the rooms in FNAF2, perhaps with the original intention of placing it in the office — hence why it is held in her outstretched hand as if she offers it to Jeremy. In the first game, Chica looks into the cameras with what is almost a smirk, not just at the screen but at the player — she can see into the office and knows exactly where Mike is because the cupcake is on his desk, pointing directly at him. Even if a normal camera couldn't see certain parts of the room, the cupcake, as an animatronic, can switch the direction it is looking in.
In answer, the cupcake is both an 'animatronic' and a 'camera' of sorts, it is a secondary animatronic intended as part of Chica but used as a camera by the animatronics themselves.

What's the story behind the cupcake?:
The story behind the cupcake. Well, that's an interesting story. Chica didn't always have the cupcake. She used to just have regular friends. But then one day, the day she found the cupcake, was extremely odd. Chica was in the kitchen as usual, making pepperoni pizza as she happily listened to Taylor Swift, Shake It Off. Humming happily along as she wobbled her butt along to the beat in a mini dance. " I, Shake it off! Shake it off! Uh uh! " Chica sung happily as she put the pizza in the oven. Once she shut the over she began spinning around in the kitchen, happily dancing along to the music.
Suddenly, the next thing Chica knew, she had accidentally crashed into the kitchen window (which was low down and fairly large) and smashed the glass, falling onto the bushes below. Chica yelped as the twigs and branches tore at her, some thorns getting stuck in her fur. Chica kept her eyes screwed shut until she was sure that she had stopped falling, and was still. Nervously, Chica opened her eyes only to be faced with...something pink?
Chica frowned as she shut her eyes again as she turned herself the right way up. Climbing out of the bushes Chica began looking for the pink thing before finding a robotic cupcake that stared up at her. The cupcake was dirty and paint was missing on some parts of it's body. Chica tilted her head as she picked up the cupcake and looked at it. The cupcake staring back at her.
" Aaawww! " Chica cooed out after a minute. " Your so cute! "
Chica then rotated the cupcake in her paws to see how badly it had been wasting away. It's body seemed to be in perfect condition apart from the missing paint, the dirt and it's left eye being cracked. Chica smiled to herself as she went back into her home. She put the cupcake down on the kitchen table and quickly ran off to get her paints. When she came back, Chica smiled at the cupcake. She put the paints down and then grabbed a moist towel as she began to wipe the dirt off of the cupcake. Once she finished she tossed the towel into the sink before sitting down and picking up her paintbrush. " Hmm, I'll keep your top pink! " she said happily as she picked out a nice shade of pink and began delicatly painting the cupcake's top. Once she had finished that she cleaned her brush and put brown on it as she began to paint it's bottom. Once she had finished she quickly ran upstairs and grabbed clear nail polish. When she was in the kitchen again she began putting the nail polish over it's body. Leaning back, Chica smiled at her handy work. The cupcake's eye was still broken but she planned on replacing that later. But now the cupcake was re-painted and thanks to the nail polish, extremely shiny!
And to Chica, even cuter then before!
Chica smiled again as the cupcake blinked at her. Suddenly the buzzer telling her, her pizza was ready went off. The cupcake seemed to jump, tilting over and landing on it's side. It rolled about as Chica rushed to get her pizza out of the oven before putting it on a plate and putting it on the kitchen table. She laughed when she saw the cupcake rolling about uncontrolably and picked it up, putting it the right way around.
" There we go ~ " she sang happily. " Now let's eat some pizza! "

What's the story behind the cupcake?: My theory behind the cupcake is that it was a prize won by a little kid who's favorite animatronic was Chica. They walked up to the manager and asked if their cupcake toy prize could be given to Chica. The manager couldn't resist and obliged. So after hours the manager took a plate they normally serve food on, grabbed some very strong glue, and the cupcake toy. After what seemed an eternity of trying to position Chica's hand just right and getting it to stay like that while the glue set, the cupcake was now Chica's. And now Chica is never seen without this adorable little cupcake!

What's the story behind the cupcake?: The animatronic builders thought a cupcake would be a good idea. So, they made a cupcake for Chica. Chica showed Freddy her new cupcake companion and Freddy stole it. A night later, Freddy returned it, and it had eyes with a camera in each pupil. Chica uses this to now watch the gaurd, and sometimes the cupcake's voice is mistaken for other animatronics.

What's the story behind the cupcake?:

Chica was programmed to be a friendly animatronic that was to go around the restaurant and advertise the delicious pizza they served there. The robot was to be programmed as a female, the program for its feminine state worked for the first few months the restaurant was open, but as the months past, the perky, sassy female soon began to slowly change into a fairly 'hungry', friendly and silly male.
The staff soon began to realize the odd change in the robot and called in their mechanic who also doubled as their new night guard to check out the problem. She opened up the endo-skeleton of Chica and found nothing wrong, what was odd was that his programming still stated it was a female so there was no way he could be changed back. The mechanic explained this to the owner and other employees and that they had to live with the new change of the robot.
Chica as well as his programming somehow becoming male, he also began to wonder the restaurant in search for children's pizza, soon mothers and fathers began to rant about the animatronic's weird behavior. They sent out their mechanic to follow Chica around the pizzeria to see what they had been hearing was true, soon after, the chicken ate a nearby table's pizza. The mechanic gave the staff a suggestion of giving the chicken a camera to watch it move around the restaurant. They agreed. Anything to stop the odd behavior of their beloved mascot's friend.
The mechanic made Chica a cupcake to carry around the restaurant, she programmed him to carry it as well as program him to stop himself when realizing the camera was there. After the cupcake was given to him, the odd craving for pizza was stopped, but Chica still continued to try to eat it, but to no avail, he was always stopped before it reached his mouth. Soon, the kids began to think the way Chica almost ate their pizza was a friendly joke and that's the way the staff put it since then.

What's the story behind the cupcake?:
In the First game, The Cupcake was simple a cupcake, something brought in by a previous guard. And left there, who know's why, perhaps it was because that original Chica had taken a Liking to the Cupcake? Chica may of gotten attached to that cupcake, because it was cute. Something colourful, and reminding her of the children who come and go from the Pizzeria each day. Or Perhaps it reminds her of herself?

If you think back, Chica happened to be holding the cupcake when she was at the Show Stage, someone during the day must find it like that, and take it back to the office. Leaving it there. But after awhile the staff began to notice that Chica kept on getting the cupcake, and they eventually gave up. Letting her keep it, but when they were sent off and Replaced with the 'Toy' Models. The New Chica still wanted the cupcake, and they decided it would be apart of her design from then on.

In the Second game:
The Cupcake, It's simple. It's Plain, but it is dangerous. The reason Chica carries this cupcake around, it is because inside that cupcake is the chip that use to be the old Chica's Memory Circuit. Or in simpler Terms, Her Old mind. Chica knew that was her find, and felt a connection to it. So she grabbed the cupcake and put the circuit into the cupcake.

Which makes the cupcake come alive, not able to move about without Chica, but it can blink and think as if it was really the old Chica. And because of that, Chica feels like she is the old version of herself. The model that wasn't a toy. She feels bad for replacing the old Chica, Glitchy or not. She was her, and she is her. So She carries the cupcake around so she can show the old chica the new building, and the new 'toy' models. She even uses the cupcake to scare the Security guards, finding fun in it.
