personality
Maurice is a cheerful bean with a lot of energy. He prefers peace over war, but is always in for a good argument with his twin, as long as nothing gets physical. He is kind to strangers, but when with his family he can be a bit stand-offish and at times even rude. He always tries to please people, and can tend to get overhwhelmed when he tries to help other beans too much. A little boy can only do so much, right? On a different note, Maurice is stubborn as a mule. If he says he doesnt want to do something, he means it. He refuses to do anything he doesnt want to do, which gives him a bit of a bad attitude when he is forced to clean his room or eat his vegetables. Despite his stubbornness, Maurice will do almost anything for his siblings. He loves them and would hate to see anything happen to them. Even though he is one of the youngest of the family, he can get very protective of his loved ones. He always tries to act tough, but on the inside he is soft and easily hurt, which he usually just hides with anger or frustration.
Maurice is a lover of fun, and is quite clever. He is always coming up with little plans to make things entertaining for him and his brothers. Sure, they may be a bit dangerous at times, but Maurice's brain doesnt process that too well, and he continues to come up with his little schemes. Once in a while he gets in trouble for it, but its never a problem in the end, since he takes punishment very well and doesnt throw fits. This is due to his belief that if you throw a hissy fit, youre just getting yourself into more trouble. He may be a smart bean, but its actually common for him to have stupid ideas like trying to sled off of the roof during a snowstorm or having all of his friends flipping around on a trampoline at the same time. He doesnt go through with his stupid ideas, or even tell anyone, but theyre constantly running through his mind as a constant 'what if'. Mauri also has a small streak of daredevil attitude in him that causes him to do some reckless things that, in the end, conclude with him having to pay for his actions since he will most likely get hurt.
relationships
red ;; mom [mommy]
Maurice loves his mommy very much, and is always hanging around her when he isnt with his siblings. He thinks shes a great mother, though she tends to bring out his daredevil side more than usual. Maybe its just the thought of someone of more authority being around that makes him want to cause a little trouble, but as usual, its never a problem. Red actually joins him in on what hes doing, but makes sure he doesn't get hurt badly. Mauri also likes to get Red to play games with him and his siblings. He has his own way of begging that is very useful in times of need. While it doesnt always work, he has been trying to figure out how to make it even better.
midna ;; mom [mama]
Maurice likes talking to his mama Midna, since he thinks she is a very interesting bean. He always goes to her when he needs advice, since he thinks of her as very intelligent. She usually always has answer to his questions. Midna is the one who gave Maurice his nickname. He thinks it's a nice nickname and is fine with anyone using it. Since midna is a talented dancer, Mauri likes to go in the kitchen with her and stand on her feet while she does a 'dance' consisting of stepping and spinning very slowly. He thinks it's fun, and has considered taking up dance classes once or twice because of her. The only thing he dislikes about his mama is when she gets snappy, because it hurts his feelings.
gazsi ;; brother [big bro]
Gazsi and Maurice arent very close. It isn't because they don't like each other, but because of their age difference. They simply don't like many of the same things. Gazsi has his own friends to hang out with, and is already a teenager while Mauri is just a little kid. The two dont connect very well in the long run and their personalities dont 'click' like they should. They aren't the best of friends, but arent enemies either. On a few rare occasions, Maurice and Gazsi play a board game or something, but it's only once or twice a month - or sometimes not at all. Trust me, Mauri wants to be close to his older brother, but they just haven't made the connection they need to do that just yet.
drust ;; brother [drusty]
Maurice is off and on about drust. They get along and play games and such, but sometimes they have tiny arguments over who plays with what toy, or who gets the last lollipop. Mauri doesn't like drust's arrogance, and when he is acting that way he avoids him completely. Their differences do not get between them very often, but just like any other family, they have a few ups and downs. Drust is actually who this bean tells his secrets to. He knows the risk hes taking by telling his brother a lot of his secrets, but he figures that if he squeals to someone they'll just forget about it eventually, so no real harm is done for the most part. The only thing he will get mad at him about is if he tells about who he has a crush on, or something bad he did.
tokolo ;; brother [toko/tokyo]
Maurice calls Tokolo 'Tokyo' because, as a kid, he was unable to say Tokolo's name correctly. Instead of growing out of the nickname, though, he kept it and continues to call him that. Tokolo seems to find it a bit annoying at times, and has actually gotten a bit mad at Mauri for calling him that. Since his brothers little moment of anger, Maurice has been calling him that less and less. The nickname still stands, but it is not common any more. Otherwise, this bean thinks of his brother as a friend, and likes to do things with him when he gets bored or lonely. Unfortunately, they always seem to do what Tokolo wants to do, which can get boring sometimes.

short story
"Everybody get on the couch, we're watching a movie tonight." Red called out, beginning to wrangle up her boys and sit them on the couch. It was mainly the younger ones she had to worry about, since Gazsi was already seated and was munching on popcorn. As Tokolo and Drust ran into the room one after the other, Maurice grabbed as much candy as he could from the cabinet. "Um... What do you think you're doing with that?" Red asked, looking at Mauri with a confused look.
"You said we were watching a movie, so I'm getting the candy!" Maurice grinned and held up a pack of gummy bears. Soon after, the little boy scrambled onto the couch next to his other siblings. Red and Midna were sitting very close to each other, and their children were scattered in many different positions on the rest of the couch. Tokolo was laying with his head hanging off of the couch, Drust was cross legged, Gazsi was propping his feet up, and Maurice's twin was... was he cuddling a pillow? It seemed so. Mauri himself was sitting on the armrest, since all of the room had been taken by everyone else.
Trying to get comfortable was difficult. The armrest was padded, but it wasn't as cushiony as the rest of the chair. With a heavy sigh, the boy decided to take a seat on the ground. He snatched the pillow his twin was hugging and placed it on the ground, ignoring the quiet complaint. Hogging the pillows wasn't allowed - at least, not to Maurice. "What are we watching?" Tokolo asked suddenly, looking over at Red and Midna.
"You'll see, just wait." Midna said calmly, smiling slightly. Was is going to be something new?
"But I don't want to-"
"Wait." She said again, giving him a firmer look.
At this point, the pre-movie commercials had began. Judging by what they were showing, the movie was going to be something Disney. 'Ooh, maybe its that new movie that just came out!' Maurice thought and bounced a bit on his pillow. Sure enough, once the previews were over, he found out that he was right - it was that movie that had just come out that month. The child ripped open a pack of skittles and began to sort them out in from of him - green and yellow on the left, red and purple on the right, and brown and orange in the middle. Taking a handful from the yellow pile, the bean stared intently at the screen. Up to this point there had been no interruptions, which was great considering they could barely ever get through a film without someone causing a ruckus.
He must have thought too soon, because as soon as the thought entered his mind, Gazsi sat up and made a loud comment about how this movie was for 'dumb babies'. "Gazsi, shush." Red said and frowned, giving a stern look to her oldest son. Gazsi huffed and laid back again, rolling his eyes and taking out his phone to play a game. Why did he have such an attitude today? Eh, it didn't matter as long as they could finish without him interrupting again. Maurice was enjoying this movie so far.
"How much longer?" Tokolo asked, dragging out the 'r'.
"I'd guess around twenty minutes to a half hour." Midna said.
"Thank God." Gazsi muttered.
"Shush!"
"You shush!"
"How about you both shut up!?" Drust growled, standing up and putting a hand on his hips.
"Drust, don't tell your brothers to shut up." Midna snapped, frowning disappointedly. "Everyone be quiet and sit down. I think some of us would like to finish the movie in peace."
Maurice looked back and nodded. The film would be over soon, and he didn't want to miss any more than he had. After the boys were all disciplined by their mom, they all sunk back into the couch and frowned. The rest of the movie was watched in silence. There were no distractions or interruptions at all. It was a nice night once everything was resolved, and Maurice was happy.
