why are her eyes closed?;
It had become such a habit now. She was told several times in her youth to keep her eyes open or the damage wouldn't heal, but she enjoyed the world behind her eyelids. Of course, she did as she was told until her eyes healed up to nearly perfect health. She still had some spotty vision, but that was easy to live with now. As it slowly became habit, Sylvan would challenge herself to do chores while her eyes were closed. Even played several video and board games without opening a lid. It became her good luck charm to do something without seeing, or at least accomplishing it half blind as she never mastered cooking without peeking a few times.
Even with the excuse of it being a charm; Sylvan also enjoyed staying in the deep, comforting, dark. A whole new world opened up with just taking away sight. It was something magical to her, to experience something familiar in a new way.

Elowen lived in an ancient time of the Plumerians. Where not much was known about the world around them and there was much superstition involved in age old traditions.

Elowen lived in a small village. When she was born, Elowen had her eyes open. The kivata (kind of like a healer cross a priest who helps with the birth of a Plumerian and tells their destiny to the family which helps choose where to send their child. Sometimes baby Plumerians were killed based on the fact that the Kivavta thought they would have a bad destiny) told them that due to her eyes open and being born when the moon was directly above. She would have a twisted life but would end triumphant. The Kivata then said that she would have to join the Tevia. The Tevia were an order dedicated to healing. However, when Elowen got older she didn't want to leave her village to join the Tevia so she closed her eyes. She believed that because she was going to the Tevia for having her eyes open, she would close them. She hoped this would stop her destiny. The Kivata tried to persuade her not to close her eyes. However, Elowen ignored them and learnt to feel her way around...

I could tell you about her life story but you asked for why her eyes were closed. I would love to have her as a character because I want to make a comic for her. I also would draw Elowen all the time and make little animations.

mei is a dreamer, always has, always will. her eyes are always closed, catching her in a dream-like trance. though she is in this trance, she is completely in touch with reality and able to function rather well by herself. she refuses to tell anyone of her mysterious dream, so no one really knows whether it is a good dream, or a bad one. they assume it is a good one, because she never appears to be in any fear. in the few times mei has opened her eyes, they were revealed to be heterochromia, one eye is a light pink and the other appears to be white.

She keeps them closed to see the beauty of the world. So that she will know the goodness of another instead of their outer beauty. So she can sense their intentions with her other senses. She keeps them closed to know the truth of the world around her.

why are her eyes closed?; when she was born, her
eyes were closed. this is normal of course, but when she
reached the age where she was supposed to open them,
she didn't. her parents were very worried and asked the
doctor if there was anything wrong with her. there wasn't,
but he told them to keep a close eye on eve.
three years later she still hadn't opened her eyes. her mum
and dad were still deeply worried, but used to the fact that
her eyes were closed. one snowy morning, however, she did
open her eyes; and it shocked them all. she could only barely
see, and she was completely blind in her right eye. [white eye]
due to her being used to having her eyes closed, it was difficult
trying to keep them open. so she kept her eyes closed for the rest
of her life, and naturally adapted to having to feel around and 'sense'
where things were.

why are her eyes closed?; she's asleep, of course! she has a disorder which causes
her to fall unconscious a lot, while her inner mind takes charge of her actions. Her body can
control itself perfectly fine, though. she doesn't need to see when she's like this because the
rest of her body (except for her conscious) is extremely alert and sensitive. it's like
sleepwalking, but on a much larger scale because she does nearly everything in her sleep.

she doesn't remember anything that happens while she's asleep, so she has some trouble
when she's awake. but she always remembers her dreams, which is one of the reasons she
loves to sleep! her dreams are extremely vivid, to make up for her lack of being able to
really experience real life.

she treasures her dreams dearly, since they're the only things she has. <3

why are her eyes closed?; Iris has a difficult time accepting flaws in herself and in others, berating herself over even a simple mistake or feeling aggravated by those who allow reality to hurt them. She also cannot bring herself to face the harsher elements of life, particularly after she faced bullying from other plumerians due to her blank, white eye. She has always had insecurities, but her imagination is much stronger. Whenever Iris feels upset, angry, or self-conscious, she closes her eyes and takes herself to a faraway land where her troubles are gone and no one can hurt her. Preferring to keep herself locked away in the fairytale universe she has built around herself, she is quite content to shut out all outsiders. She has begun to call her imagination 'home', spending hours with her eyes shut tight. She feels that her daydreams are much more welcoming than the world she lives in. In her imagination, Iris feels safer and stronger where she can have complete control of her emotions, which threaten to consume her in her life. She uses the strength and power of her imagination to protect her from the painful nature of reality.
Keeping her eyes closed is Iris's way of shielding herself from the basic pains of living, and in her own creative world, she never has to face the imperfections of the real one. Iris sees the world as cold and unforgiving, a stark contrast to the colorful existence that she paints behind her eyes.
