There are times when alone is the best place to be.

Whilst pregnant with Elvira, and also being a very spiritual JBD, her mother went to see a fortune teller. The fortune teller told her that Elvira would bring her her and others bad luck. The fortune teller said Elvira was a bad omen. Elvira's mother didn't want any sort of bad omen living with her, even if it was her child. She asked the fortune teller for advice and she was told to give her baby to the fortune teller, who would be able to keep Elvira's 'bad luck' away. Elvira's mother hastily handed her over to the fortune teller shortly after she was born. The fortune teller treated her badly, calling her names and making her do all sorts of degrading tasks like acting like a fool outside her tent to gain the attention of passers by. The fortune teller gave Elvira an accessory that would keep away her bad luck. It was simply a collar that the fortune teller used as an excuse as to why Elvira wasn't causing any bad luck. The fortune teller would threaten to take it off if Elvira didn't do as she said. One day the fortune teller told Elvira to stand outside and flirt with anyone that passed by, in hopes that she could entice them into the tent. Elvira refused and decided she couldn't take all the degrading tasks and abuse any more. She ran out of the tent and just kept on running....

Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring so I go back to being me.

Due to her past, Elvira is very weary of others. She has no interest in making friends or ever trusting anyone. She always knows exactly what she wants and how to get it. Elvira loves to learn, and will go out of her way to learn about new things. She is very intelligent and can solve puzzles and riddles in seconds. Elvira can also solve problems well before others, but won't tell them how...That wouldn't be any fun.
Elvira is incredibly sarcastic and finds others intolerable. For this reason, basically everything she says is rather sarcastic. She's not afraid of anything or anyone and will tell someone exactly what she's thinking whether it will hurt their feelings or not. She doesn't care for the feelings of others and believes that they are all motivated simply by selfish means. She won't listen to anyone that tries to get through to her as she is very stubborn.

Don't hate me because I'm cold hearted, hate the person that made me this way.

Blunt - Jolyne doesn't sugarcoat anything.
While she isn't exactly an honest bean, she has no qualms
about letting others know exactly what she thinks of them.

Restless - She hates being confined.
As nice as it is to have food and shelter, Jolyne can't help
but want to leave the orphanage behind in search of
something new. Staying in one place for too long just
gets on her nerves.

Just - Although she seems like a delinquent, Jolyne
is a good person at heart. She won't just stand by and watch
if someone is being hurt.

Untrusting - She always sleeps with one eye open.
Even in the orphanage, she doesn't quite feel safe. She's
always cautious in dealing with her caretakers and peers.
