This lovely Kia is named after a type of rock, sardonyx, most commonly found in
Brazil. It has bands of color varying from deep mahogany or black-brown to a pale
off-white color, with bands of red and pale yellows in between- indeed, similar in
color to this Kia, with her swirls of so many shades.⇛ ɢεпɔεя ⇚ Female⇛ ғανσяıтε ρʟαcε тσ εхρʟσяε αпɔ шнч ⇚ Out of any place in our vast and mysterious world,
Sardonyx is enamored more than anything else with the world of Brazilian
canyons. Lined with both vibrant emerald plants and deep sandstone-and-rock
cliffs, these canyons provide safe havens not just to young animals and
sapling trees, but to Onyx herself. Most of all, she spends time in the deep
deposits to seek out the sardonyx stones for which she is named. One of
Sardonyx's most sacred possessions is her expertly-cut sandstone-and-sardonyx
necklace. It was cut by one of her closest friends, Lazulite- they have a deal,
in fact, in which Sardonyx finds stones and Lazulite cuts them.
Due to her time spent in the deep canyons, Onyx has developed some very
tough pads, able walk anywhere without getting cut. Sardonyx also has a
unique camouflage ability, her swirls of cream and brown blending into the
backdrop of sandy cliff walls with ease. Her camouflaged coat is nearly
undetectable; so hard to spot is she that Onyx has faced a near-death
experience by total accident. Catching a bushmaster snake by surprise
is easily a fatal mistake, with intensely powerful 3.8-cm fangs and the
second-largest venomous snake in the world. Even to this day Sardonyx
considers herself lucky to be alive!
Naturally, this Kia must have a reason for Brazil, of all places. In actuality,
she's naturally Brazilian! Onyx speaks fluent Portuguese as well as English,
but she hails from Brazil, and spends most of her days there. Her feathers,
too, are those of the Amazon parrot, simply with bleached ends.260 words
personality and in-depth name explanation
Sardonyx is a stone more commonly associated with meaning and symbolic representations than valued as a gemstone itself. Its most common interpretation is that of truth- of strength and willpower- a stone for believing in what you do, and believing it is right. Sardonyx's name wasn't simply chosen because it matched her pelt- it runs far deeper than that. Onyx's very personality, not just her swirling colors, are embedded in this stone. Sardonyx enhances willpower, integrity, stamina and vigor, and causes one to reflect on the world around them. Simarly, this Kia likes nothing more than to put things in perspective. When the going gets tough, Onyx doesn't back away- she steps up to the plate, taking on whatever challenge faces her. That's not to say she's reckless or bold- Sardonyx knows when to back down. Yet at the same time, she will keep going for as long as she can, just for the joy of challenging herself- and, yes, perhaps her steely will has something to do with it.
Despite her tough, valiant, willful appearance, Sardonyx has a surprisingly timid interior. Her stone waives depression and overcomes hesitancy, but in this aspect she relies more on her namesake than her body. It's not that Onyx has depression, but she is easily put out, especially in the rainy season, when the deep-jungle canyons she haunts are deemed unsafe for entry. In addition, she has little confidence while in large groups or with strange Kias- Lazulite is really the only one she's befriended, and is too glad to let her blunt, snarky friend take over in social situations- even if the outcome is less than satisfactory.
Thankfully, sardonyx also brings about some good luck. It is well known as a stone that aids perception, and this couldn't be truer about Sardonyx. Not a single detail escapes her keen forest-green eyes, which seem to be fine-tuned for observing the less obvious. Little signs can key her off- which, particularly in the case of the bushmaster, has saved her life before. Although Onyx is somewhat self-conscious and intriverted, her tough will and sharp senses will keep her steady until she pulls through. A down-and-dirty gem-hunting Brazilian of a Kia, Sardonyx, the one named after the gemstone, finds no faults in her life- but then again, sardonyx says that everything is based on perception.
