What are Avidae?
Avidae are large, birdlike creatures that live in grasslands and plains all over the world. They're often confused with their winged counterpart, the Griffin, but are very much indeed earthbound. They can be seen tagging along behind lion prides and other groups of carnivores, as they only hunt when there is nothing to scavenge. Their claws and beaks are more suited to fending off competitors than catching prey.

Sprig looked up from the bone she was chewing at the sound of movement. She had been gnawing at it for the past 15 minutes an stripped it completely but she held onto it protectiveley with her forepaws. A couple of vultures were eyeing the bone hopefully. She clicked her beak at them in an irritated fashion and they flew of. As she watched them go Sprig noticed something. Your all of vultures were flying that way. They had probably found a meal and would finish it before Sprig could get at it. She raced forward below some of her fellow scavengers. A carcass lay not to far away, an most of the remains were still intact,with only a few birds already at it. Sprig jumped forward, startling a couple off. She tore a large chunk of and took it away to eat it in peace.
