When she was younger, her and her father would take a stroll down to the beach, either during the day or at night, to walk along the sand near the tide and point out all the beauties in nature. Occasionally, the pair would spot a stranded sea creature in the sand. Delicately, Artemis would assist her father in returning the creature to it's home. On the last day before her father had to leave again to travel the world, they left for the beach at night, when the stars reflected off the sea. As the two walked through their town to the ocean, her father smiled and reminded Artemis that his most favorite thing in the world was the way her eyes reflected the stars. As the two arrived at the shore, they noticed thousands of starfish washed ashore, for reasons unknown. The pair quickly raced to the sea stars, carrying as many as they could to drop back into the ocean, before they dried up. Dawn came, and it was time for Artemis' father to leave. Despite being upset due to being unable to save them all, Artemis walked beside him quietly. Together, they walked back home in silence, each feeling a little bubble of pride inside them, knowing that they each made a difference that night, even though they couldn't save them all.
Now, whenever Artemis sees a stranded sea creature, she always thinks of her father who taught her to make a difference in another's life. From that day forward, she made sure to walk down to the beach at night, to gaze at the stars that her father loved so much-- and that's really when her eyes reflect the stars in the sky.
