where did the scars come from// Indigo was a housecat, living with her humans happily. She was fed, loved, and cared for. Even though she would never leave her humans, she always dreamed of what it would be like. Living as a wildcat, hunting for her own food, fighting for just even a small strip of land.
Since she was so small, they didn't let her out. Only once or twice, but that was when it was warm out, and they watcher her. The little cat always longed to see what it was like out there. One time, her humans left the window open, but the screen was on. She was feeling adventurous, so she climbed onto the windowsill, and gazed out. She would often do it-- but now she actually wanted to go outside.
Her sharp, needle claws ripped through the soft mesh screen easily, making a small hole. She was free.
But, the bad side was that it seemed like a long way down. This was a problem for the small cat. She tumbled down, into the soft, short grass. The small cat was now scared, of how she would get back up again. But her curiosity got the better of her.
She started to go on her own, skirting the edge of the fence. Finally, she found a hole, and squeezed under it. She was now in the real world. In an alley. This is where things got bad.
She started to walk around, her soft pink pads not used to the rough surface. She let out an excited squeak, happy for looking at the place. Then she stumbled upon a kittypet. He was black-and-white, but he did not look plump. More like lithe and strong.
Indigo crawled up to him. "Hi!" She squeaked, excited. The tom whirled around, his tail lashing. "What's this?" He asked, to no one in particular. Indigo stood straight, and puffed out her chest. "My name's Indigo!" She said, pride in her voice. The tom snorted in amusement, as he unsheathed his claws slowly. "Why are you here, kittypet?" He asked, nearly growling. Indigo ducked down, as his breath was hot and gross. "What's that? I live with my housefolk!" She meowed.
The tom cackled with amusement. "And what are you doing here?"
"I left on my own!" She said, puffing her chest out. "And what's your name? Do you live with housefolk? Are you a wildcat? Do you have a family?" All the questions came flooding out from her. He snarled, curling his lips. "Don't ask, little kitty. But.. what's this.. thing on your neck? It's not a collar." He muttered, staring down at her.
Indigo ducked her head. "S-sorry. It's.. it's a.." She paused, trailing off. "Oh, yeah! It's a doughnut!" She exclaimed. He growled. "What's that, exactly?" He asked.
"Um, I don't know. Just a thing." She said. "And, you haven't told me your name!" She said again.
He growled, slicing his already unsheathed claws across her shoulder. "Why should I tell you?" He growled, pushing her down with a paw. Indigo wriggled underneath him, gasping. "J-just let--" She paused, as his other paw came crashing down, slicing across her face.
He stepped back, his fur bristling. "And that's something to remember me by. Kittypet." He muttered, whirling around, and stalking off.
So, she stumbled back to her housefolk, and sat at the screen door, mewling, until they came home, and found her. They treeted her well, and never let her outside. Unless someone could watch her.
