Hazard cats are felines that have been partially mixed with robotics. They have tails made of metal that are severed in the middle, but connected with some form of energy. A glass screen rests on their chests. This screen shows the cat's health with heartbeats or a glowing circle. The color always matches the cat's eyes. Some cats' screens are full of static. Beware, these are dangerous as they are rare. A small grate can be seen on both sides of the cats' bodies. They breathe through these grates, so it's impossible for it not to be there. What comes out of the grate differs from cat to cat. The most common is steam, uncommon is sound, which is accompanied by mist, and the hardest to find have goo seeping out between the bars. They have three eyes, but the one in the center of their forehead is almost always taped down or covered with a band-aid. It is said that this third eye allows them to paralyze their targets. The pupils are most commonly hollow in the center, but can be regular of slit. Large ears and eyes allow them to see clearly in all levels of light, even in pitch blackness. Their hearing is very advanced and they can hear sounds even higher than dogs can. Their legs are very long, like those of maned wolves, bringing them up to speeds of fifty miles per hour.

▄▀u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e ;; Thunder..
You rise to your feet, your heart pounding. You were on a trip with your friends when you stumbled upon this strange, abandoned lab, but it seems as if your friends have decided on a game of hide and seek. They've left you behind, like they always did, waiting for you to come find them.
Still, even though you've grown used to being left alone, you feel an ominous warning. You're not sure where this sensation is coming from, but you know you're not alone. You twist left and right, suddenly alert. All around you, experimental tubes and cables littered the dusty tiled floor. Ashes piled at one corner of the room, and you smell something burning, but there are no signs of an explosion.
Deciding to explore, you grab a thin plastic ruler from the table next to you. You use the ruler to poke the cables. Nothing moves, so you walk over to the ash. Once again you try to arouse something, but the ash remains inanimate. It wasn't the tubes, the ash, nor was it the cables. What was giving you the creeps?
An answer soon showed itself.
You turn around slowly, moving carefully. Behind you, a strange mutated animal swivels. Steam rises from its sides, and its tail rises up and down. Red lights flicker between the stump of its tail and the end of it. It has three gray eyes that you can't seem to look at closely. After seeing its ears and its posture, you decide that it is a cat. Albeit its metallic body parts and its lack of meowing, it is definitely a cat. Not only a cat; it was 'the cat.' The one you and your friends were ordered to find.
Now the question is: where are your friends? You look around again, but they aren't there. Have they run away in fear of this creature? Whatever has happened to them, you must not back away. You were assigned to gather information on this new species, weren't you?
Shakily, you ask the first question.
h.a.z.a.r.d's n.a.m.e ;; You never expected it to speak, but somehow you understand what it is trying to say.
"Aha! You make me laugh. Do you really think I will tell you my name? You amuse me; maybe I will immobilize you last, so continue ahead, and say what you will! I shall wait until you open that puny mouth of yours; speak, I order you!"
You clamp your mouth shut. The strange cat gazes at you, but you still can't look into his eyes. He then replies to you.
"But ah, you want me to answer you, is that right? I'm sorry, I didn't know. Or did I? I sense your fear and your puzzlement. You are uncertain. You do not know whether to speak or not. Now you turn your head around, seeking a way out. But there is no way out. Your struggle will be futile. So you wait for my reply. Unfortunately, you will not receive one. Why is that?"
You shake your head. It seems to be able to read your expressions. Even if you try to pull a straight face, it would see right through it. You decide that you cannot fool this creature. As your mission requires you to do, you show that you are waiting for its answer. You stay quiet in wait. It speaks again.
"I have no name."
Suddenly it lashes out. It shows its claws, and its tail flails madly, but it stops before it can reach you. You stagger backwards in half astonishment, half terror, as the creature slinks toward you. Its tail flashes red light as it approaches, its pace deathly slow. You hear its maniacal laughter.
"Fool!" it curses. "Are you so easily surprised?" Mockery is clear in its tone. You listen as it calls you names. "You are simply weak. Come now, you are here for a reason, are you not? If you wish to seek for more answers, then spit out tour next question! I will wait, and I hope that you will continue to humor me. If you fail to do so..." it stares at its right forepaw, claws extended. "It'd be a shame."

You write 'Nameless' in your notebook.

h.a.z.a.r.d's g.e.n.d.e.r ;; The cat grins, showing sharp teeth. Its smile creeps you out; the corners of its mouth stretch to the edges of its face, it seems. But it does not attack you. It speaks again.
"Well, well, you do not fail. I may not laugh, but you cheer me up as a pastime. Who knows, you may perish in the next hour, but for now you are safe. Obviously, I am a male. Does that matter so much to you? I suppose it does, as you..." it, or he, continues to talk as you scribble in your notebook.
๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑
'Male,' you write.
๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑
He soon notices that you are no longer listening. "Are you ignoring me?" he asks, in the same hauntingly slow voice he used before. You shake your head again, more frantically this time. Judging by his facial expression, he knows that you lie, but he goes on. "You will ask me more, won't you? I'm waiting for you to amuse me further."
Knowing that you can't amuse this cat by dancing a jig, you look in your notebook again and ask the next question.
However, you only need to find out what personality this cat has. You don't think you can ask this directly, so you try to dig deep by conversing further with the cat. First of all, you ask him about why he has no name.
"Hmm," he voices, seemingly considering the topic. Perhaps he thinks it isn't worth discussing, but then he shrugs. "To be honest, I have never thought of needing a name." Just as you think he is warming to you, he extends a claw. "Do you think that Savage would be nice? No, no. I am not a savage creature."
Personally, you think otherwise, but you stay silent.
"Evil!" he shouts. He then shakes his head. "No, no... I do not think so. I am the definition of insanity, not darkness. I am not evil. But I am insane, I am purely mad."
This time, you believe him. And your heart pounds again as he shoves his face into yours, forcing you to stare into his gray eyes. You hear him say something, but his voice becomes twisted and his words seem distorted. When you come to your senses, you realize that he has said, "Tell me what you see in these eyes..."
You drop your pen and your notebook. They crash on the floor, the pen clattering. You are mesmerized by what you see in his eyes. The nameless being begins to show you many things, though you can't seem to put your finger on it.
The first thing he shows you is his madness, and how he can no longer sustain a right mind. You're not sure, but you seem to hear his laughter, as maniacal as can be. He has truly list his mind, you think.
He then shows you that he is nameless for a reason, and one he's only just found. He doesn't deserve one, does he? You notice hypnotic patterns, but you concentrate on the eyes, unable to move away. You almost gasp ad the scene changes. You don't even think of how it has changed. Was this an illusion, some sort of trick?
The sea. It is difficult to describe. The water is warm and welcoming. You enter the cat's mind, and you feel him imagine how the world created the sea. Be it water rising from the earth, or endless rain coming down from the skies, or even conditions so cold that all the steam in the world changed into liquid. The waves crash against the rocks that bordered land from sea. The sky blue color is reflected in the water, creating a majestic scenery of peace and tranquillity. You watch the cat's fantasy as the clouds form the shape of an imaginary cathedral. Sudfenly you feel yourself merging with the cat. His wishes become yours, and your thoughts became intertwined.
His dreams influence your mind, and it is as though you have the conscience of an innocent child. This cat's hopes and kitten dreams, you realize. The cathedral you see is made purely of clouds, but you make out every aspect of the building. You see that it is more of an old castle, one with stone walls and drawbridges. Snarling gargoyles and prowling lion statues surround the walls, as if they symbolized the cat's fierce nature. The gentle sky was his mercy. The crocodiles in the most were his insecurities.
As he gives you a tour of his palace, you notice intricate patterns decorate the interior of the walls. They were reminiscent, but what they reminded you of was unclear. He shows you the throne, which unnerved you slightly. It was blood red, with black leather and two smaller thrones next to it. You know that the larger throne was the cat's wish to be ruler, and somehow you understand that the two other ones were his needs for a friend, as they were empty.
Once again the view changes back to the sea, and you can almost smell the saltwater. The ocean blue is deep and rich with color. It is beautiful. Coral dotted the sandy flooring and fish darted when you come nearer, and the cat shows you what it is like underwater. Somehow, you don't feel the urge to breathe.
Then you hear a song that had been ringing in your head and echoing throughout your mind for too long. The surrounding water that touches your skin feels as if it is vibrating. It son grows still and the song disappears. In front of you now is a shipwreck. It has seaweed growing all over it. You swim around it in an attempt to get a better look at the place. The ship has rusty red iron and steel framing around the wooden surface. It had once been smooth, but now it is crushed and broken.
The sails had been ripped apart and you could see the dirt that marked the sail. Then your attention is caught by a small chest. It was golden and locked, but you only needed to give it a bit of prying before it opens.
Inside it is a battery.
You think for a moment. All this time you've been dreaming, and now in this chest, all you see is a battery. Why is that? Your mind flashes back to when the cat had showed you his pattern. There had been a battery on his chest. Was this his heart, thrown away? You wonder if you are right. Maybe this is the definition of being heartless. Maybe this was why he became evil.
The realization snaps you back into reality. You were trapped in a mental vortex with no way out, but now you're okay. The cat blinks and you throw yourself backwards.
You try to move, but you are paralyzed.
Once again the cat opens his eyes, but this time... you see something different. You're not sure if it's an illusion, but... there's a change in his gaze. You hear him breaking down. Not like a robot, but as a soulful creature. He's crying. You don't know what to write anymore. Your notebook lies a few feet away from you, but you don't feel the need to retrieve it. You just watch the cat, as if he is reflecting on his own past.
He seems to recall something painful. It is as though a sob strains his vocal cords and he is rendered unable to speak, despite you knowing he has no vocal cords at all. It's like he's crying, and you imagine tears forming like liquid, transparent silvery gems in his three eyes. Steam appears, a cloud of gray that burst like an explosion from his grates. He looks up, and you see a flash of the rogue gray eyes, but the third one is closed so that you are not paralyzed.
Eyes of a million emotions, reflecting in the remaining twin stone-gray orbs. Negative feelings crowd upon both irises as though they are feathers spread across a misty morning's dewy grass. You identify so many of them, more than you could ever list. Among them are lust, sadness, savagery, pain, depression, regret, violence, torture, envy, uncertainty, desperation, loss, heartburn, fear, grief, guilt, doubt, frustration, jealousy, cowardice, defeat, shame, insecurity, and plenty more. A bitter dejection. I have sinned, confess the eyes. Every fiber tells a story. Mistakes have been made, I am responsible, and many have died. I am guilty, and I deserve to perish, but the forces of life prevent me from fading away.
And yet... a light shines between each tendril of darkness, a kind of bright contrast amongst the webbed, grayish green. A dazzling luminescence, the type that would symbolize positivity by default. Happiness, joy, ecstasy, love, elation, delight, courage, hope, empathy, sanity, optimism, bravery, gladness, joy, jubilation, felicity, bliss, rapture, to the highest of spirits. This time the eyes admit something better. I continue to live because of a reason. I have a fate. For if I do what I was destined to, I could change the world for the better. I am nameless, but nameless for a reason.
The sort of thread that is sewn in one's iris, a brilliance that glows like a thousand gems bathed in starlight, that is both gentle and powerful, able to create and destroy, for it is capable of anything and everything. In the eyes of this formerly mad cat, someone who from now on you would call 'The Nameless One,' for whatever darkness this cat once faced, now stands a pure soul that is relatable in any way, a spirit, a being that is equivalent and superior at the same time.
๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑
You take your notebook and the pen, but you hesitate for a moment. The Nameless One gazes at you, approaching as you continue to grope for a word that describes him. You shake your head at each word that comes to mind. He touches you, his paws kneading the ground gingerly. He then takes a look at the scrap of paper you were writing on. It had been damaged in he earlier fall, so the paper was a little folded. He doesn't seem to mind much.
And then you shrug. You've nothing to write. You leave his personality empty.
๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑. ۞ ๑ ۞๑ ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑۞๑. ۞ ๑ ۞ ๑
"Hey!"
You open your eyes, rubbing your face. Your friend is sitting next to you, looking worried even though you've only been gone for a while. More of them are sitting around you, as if you've been knocked unconscious. One of them has a bucket of water, and they all look like they've been trying to wake you up for hours.
"I-I'm okay," you gasp. The notebook is nowhere to be seen, but you know it's safe with the cat. Your friends show relief and smile. But behind them, you notice a silhouette, shaped like a cat with steam rising from its sides...
And from that day on, you know that The Nameless One has been watching you, even though you never saw him again...
..until that one fateful day.
╪════════════════════════╪
You are alone. In the forest. On your way to the abandoned lab. This time, your friends aren't with you. It's been months since you've last seen The Nameless One. Your reason for coming here? You're not so sure yourself. All you know is that you've developed an attachment to the cat, a strange connection that would be stronger than the bond between a pet and its owner.
In contrast, you feel no need to get your notebook back at all. It contains all the information you've collected since last year, but you've never really felt any connection to it. Even though your friends were a little furious upon you losing it, they cooled down eventually, leaving you with memories that not even a notebook could contain.
Fireflies greet you as the night reigns on. The sky is covered by a wing dark as a crow's feather, but the first stars begin to flicker. You are no good at navigating in the dark, so you take out your flashlight and turn it on. This time you remember your batteries; ever since you've met the cat, you've been thinking a lot on batteries for some reason.
In your backpack is a variety of other batteries. You've felt the need to give one to the cat. Even though you're alone, you know that he's somewhere out there.
And that's when it begins.
Clouds seem to blur your eyesight. You're not sure of it, but you feel like you're being lifted off the ground. The cloud swirls around you, and your surroundings disappear, engulfed by cotton-white particles. You look around, and for a moment it's like your mind's going into a deep slumber. Everything slows down for a second.
The trees become covered in thick fog. But then it all disappears, fading into nonexistence, before the next thing comes into view. An electric spark, brighter than a star, glowing in front of you. It doesn't seem to ignite any trees...
And then you are surrounded by a million candles. They glow with the colors of the rainbow, but they don't trigger annoyances in you. The candles quiver with no wind. You look around, and you see the huge silhouette of the cat. Deja Vu.
You smile for a brief moment. "I know you're there, Nameless."
The candles die, each one blinking before its fire disappears. You are taken back to the forest, devoid of light tricks. The shadow shrinks to cat-size. He then walks out of the bushes, a snarky grin on his face. His third eye is closed and taped together. It's obvious that he misses you too. "Hello," he says. "Did you like my illusions?"
"They're perfect," you say.

Lucky break, I managed to get to the laptop at last!
