why does he/she collect fireflies? ;

chek collects fireflies because when he was younger, they were his guardians. he always felt the safest with a little light, and fireflies were always flying around by his side to protect him from the night demons that lurked in the darkest shadows. he was lounging by the valley river, not too long ago when a lighting bug landed on his beak. staring crossed eyed at the firefly, chek took out a small bottle and guided the bug into the jar, watching it light up with a pale yellow glow. he held it close and strung the jar with a piece of yarn, placing it around his neck. he's kept that jar there ever since, collecting every lighting bug that lands on his beak, and fireflies always are flying around with him wherever he goes.
