Behind the name: Means "against birth" from Greek αντι (anti) "against" and γονη (gone) "birth, offspring". I decided to name her after the character Antigone in an acient Greek play. In this play, Antigone is rebellious and unfazed when faced with danger. She sticks to what she believes in and is strong-willed. Yet, she is a conflicted character. At first she goes against the king and buries her brother, knowing fully the consequences. Still, when she is sentenced to be buried alive, she tries to plead her case once more, almost unwilling to go, even though she knew this would happen. Ultimately, in a moment of weakness she kills herself, instead of braving her punishment stubbornly like one would expect. I thought this concept was interesting, and I think the conflict that goes on with Antigone is a good representative of the contrast this equid displays. I plan on giving her a self-conflicted personality, constantly at war with herself. She would be passive and altruistic, yet she would hate herself for it. I also love the meaning of the name, and I think its quite fitting. Her coat stems from a strange occurrence that seems to be against the typical way organisms are born. Instead of twins, there is just a single offspring.
