Hello, my first name is Marsh,
my middle name is Mell,
and my last name is... uh, Ovich. (Marsh blushes.)
But please, just call me Marsh, O, or Marsh Mell O!
I'm a Male Deerssert of the age 28.
I was born on the 5th of February, which makes me an Aquarius.
On my 23rd birthday, I went out to play cards with my friends at Lè Choco Cafè, my favorite Cafè.
I read the specialties they had and nothing really appealed to me. So, I just asked for "the usual", a
Chai latte with whipped cream and a tiramasu cakepop.
All of a sudden, a big gust blew in. The faint little jingle of the bells hanging from the door rang.
"U-uh," I stammered, starstruckenly.
I stood, frozen in looking at the lovely deersert that had just walked in.
Her hair was pinned back with a rose clip. That rose clip... I will always remember her by that.
She looked over in my direction as she glided gracefully to the counter and I blushed, hiding my head by the table.
I needed to know more about her!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as I came, I left. And so did she.
I packed up my cards and walked away. What I hadn't noticed, was that I dropped one; The ace of hearts ♥
The beautiful deer ran towards me, at full throttle.
I ran as fast as I could until.
She dropped something.
I walked back... and th-then.... I leaned down.... and so did she...
I-I-I RAN AS FAST AS I COULD AND WENT HOME.
I SQUEALED LIKE A PIG, EMBARRASSED OF MYSELF. How could I have been so foolish? Why did I run?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Years Past and I aged until I met her again.
23, 24, 25, 26. I was 27.
She recognized me instantly. Her face lit up when she saw me.
She gave me a card. It was the Ace of Hearts! ♥
Where at first, we met inside a Cafè, we met again 4 years later, inside of a bakery.
The bakery was called Toffee Townn.
We chatted.
"Hey... I'm sorry that I ran away like that..."I shifted in my cushion, uncomfortable with myself.
"Its fine~"
She replied in an soft manner, her voice lilting like soft rose petals put into words.
So beautifully, in fact, I felt manipulated. I didn't deserve her...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her name was Rosalind. She was born with an imperfection of the tongue. This imperfection made her speak smoothly, instead of the normal chopping dialect of the deerserts.
She Explained lots of details;
26, Single, No children, Adventuresome, Libra.
Hmmm.
She loves to Adventure?
I'll take her to... Uh...
I was puzzled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She gave me an email because she didn't use cell phones.
I wonder why?
I emailed her anyway.
O:Want to go to the volcanic hillside?
R:Sure~
(Well, that was easy, I thought.)
O:Meet me tomorrow at noon?
R:That's good~
---~---
The Next day, we departed.
I brought nothing but she brought everything.
"Oh.. you brought some... lava cake~ How did you know~?"
I turned bright red.
"Y-You like Lava cake too?"
"Yes~"
"Well, cool!"
"The lava cake's nice and all but have you heard of the Serpent's Stare~?"
"No, actually. Tell me!"
She smirked before explaining. "Its an ancient relic that can heal anything~"
She went on before I finally replied.
"Nice!"
"Follow me~!"
We departed for the Temple of Apollo's Chariot, where the Lava Beast roam free.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I stumbled over to a rock.
Hmmm.... I thought. A rock.
Well, that's all fine and dandy. But... where's Rosa? I spotted her climbing some steps.
So that's where she went!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marsh watched as Rosalind disappeared into the darkness of the Temple.
Marsh galloped over, following her.
"Rosa? What are y-"
"Shhhhh~"
Everything was silent.
Then, Marsh heard a sudden burst of noise.
Chhh-Chic!
Rosa fell into a trapdoor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I dashed down to come save her, but I was too late.
Bubbly bits of lava cloaked her.
Her hair... Her beautiful, beautiful hair... it caught on fire...
I fell to the ground, trying not to fall on her. I was still on the hill leading to the pit she fell into. Shadowy lava beasts paced around us in the distance.
She smoldered and burned but she looked up at me.
Her eyes... T-they were filled with tears...
She looked up to me and choked out one final, desperate attempt to say "I love you."
The fire, spread from her limbs and hair to her body and she was gone.
I tried falling as fast as I could, to change this outcome...
SMACK
I fell on some sort of barrier... and I watched her rose pin melt as she burned to ash.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"ROSA!" I screeched.
Silence filled the air...
She was dead...
The barrier broke and I fell through.
As a lava beast came to investigate her remains..
Something sparkled in the range of my left eye.
A golden python with ruby eyes!
That must be the Serpent's Stare!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Her words echoed in my head. "It can heal anything~"
"I will do it.... For her!"
I grabbed the lava cake and threw the chocolate-y pastry to the beast.
"L-LOVA CAK", it rasped.
In touching something from the material plane, it started to implode on itself. And then it was gone.
".... Rosa..." I sobbed. The beast was gone, but she didn't come back.
I stood there, crying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I started to sing a song for her.
"Rosa was my deer.
Her hair as beautiful,
As a flower.
As a flower.
If i would have known,
I would have sacrificed,
Myself.
To save her beauty...
To save her beauty!
But if it were me...
I'd really want to have,
Her alive now...."
The song triggered an secret passage to the Serpent's Stare.
I walked through the passage, grabbed the relic and read the pedestal it rested on.
"That which you have cherished can bring back one that perished."
I looked around for something I could give it.
The heart Lolli on my tail... Something my mom gave me...
But... I will do it for Rosa.

I threw the Lolli to the Serpent's Stare, and as it fell, it morphed into a ring of ruby and gold. It hit the floor with a sizzling clink.
The Serpent's stare began to breathe,
I took a deep breath In, The air was Stale and humid.
The serpent used magic and he was alive.
" Ach hummm," it breathed.
"Hoo! Nice to be alive again!
I give you thanks for your deed.
Who would you like to revive?"
"Rosalind..." I sniffled.
"The girl who was burnt down to the core?"
"Yes...."
"Give me a personal item of hers."
I shuffled back to the melted clip on the rock face and I picked it up.
"This rose clip."
"Yes boy, the clip." It coiled tightly around it and the temple exploded.
We both flew up and out, and then it was dark for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke in a flower field. Roses and lilacs scattered the area.
I was a young boy.
Some girl was crying...
"W-Wh@ts wrongge?"
I said in my childish tone.
"Nutin'~'"
The girl said.
Something was wrong with our speech.
She wore a rose clip.... like Rosalind...
Her eyes were brown and blue... like Rosalind's eyes...
My eyes were icy blue in one eye, and chocolate brown in the other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up. Rosa was aside me, and the serpent's stare was in my tail, in place of the Lolli.
"I did it..." I breathed a sigh of relief.
In my mind, the serpent's sinister voice echoed.
"I owe to you my life. Call me Stare. For you, safety is no longer a fleeting worry."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found my way back home with Rosa, after she woke up.
However, she wore the rose pin, as if nothing happened.
We went to Lè Choco Cafè and I ordered my regular.
She did too.
"I haven't tried this type yet~" She giggled.
"Its my favorite! Try it!" I said, offering her the other cup.
As she sipped, I took out some sheets.
"H-hello... Rosalind... W-will you listen to this song I wrote for you?"
"Of course! Anything for you~"
Rosa, You are my little deer,
I say Rosa, you are so beautiful,
Oh, Ro-sa-lind!
You make my heart go crazy,
Even just for a day,
Oh just, Rosa. Please never leave me,
We'll celebrate for an hour without limit;
{Music pauses}
I'll buy you truffles.
I'll hug you infinitely.
I'll love you forever,
{Music comes back slowly}
You can count on me~~~~
You we're meant for me~~
Bay-beee
Please, just, I beg of you, don't leave me,
Because you~~~
Took my heart away, you took my heart awayyyy!
Please accept this card, baby!
And take this box too.
I will kneel down for youuu!
*Marsh kneels*
Rosalind,
Robins are red,
Bluejays are blue,
I can not write poems,
But I beg of you;
Please marry me,
I love you.
~Marsh
"O-oh my god~~~~~~¡!¡!"
"Yes! I will marry you!"
The ring I proposed with, was once my Lolli...
But, I have a beautiful deersert now... A beautiful life...
And a snake.
"SERPENT!" Stare yelled.
(Music plays at every cookie in the Jukebox!)
It was a normal, albeit windy wednesday. At least, I thought it would be.
After my violin lesson, I took a trip by the Lè Choco Cafè. Their lattes are simply divine.
Whenever I go there, I love to get their white chocolate latte with heart sprinkles.
I walked through the door, my tail being tossed about in the sudden downwind.
I was glad my mane was held in place by the rose clip my mother gave me before I had to leave home,
or else I couldn't see a thing as I entered.
I could hear the faint jingle of the doorchime, a little set of jingle bells.
Another deersert stood as I entered, murmuring to himself,
looking a little starstruck. Wow, he was good-looking.
I ordered my regular drink and got it to-go.
It was kind of strange to see him hide beside his friends like that.
"Why is he so embarrassed?" I wondered to myself.
I took a sip and noticed that he was leaving with his friends... Why? I wanted to talk to him...
I tried to take my mind off of it, looking down as I walked out of the store. As soon as I had, I
noticed that a playing card had been dropped as he had left. The Ace of Hearts.
He wasn't that far ahead of me, so I began to canter his way, catching up at a reasonable pace.
He saw me heading for him and he galloped as fast as his legs would take him, speeding off from his friends
and I followed him as best as I could, until I slipped and had to stop, tumbling along the brick path.
I had lost him. How could I have been so silly to think that I could actually catch up?
I sat on the ground for a little bit, letting the wind toss my mane.
Oh well... I thought. At least I had the card he had dropped to remember him by.
I really ought to get this to him.
Years past and I aged until I met him again.
22, 23, 24, 25. I was 26.
I recognized him as if a day hadn't past. I was so happy!
I gave him the card he had dropped so long ago, that very same Ace of Hearts.
Where we first met in a cafe, we met again in a bakery called Toffee Townn.
We chatted.
"Hey... I'm sorry that I ran away like that..." He wiggled in his cushion, his expression uncomfortable.
"Its fine~" I assured.
His voice was rich and luxurious like the finest chocolate. Every time he spoke, I felt nearer to him,
although I couldn't say the same for how he seemed to feel for me.
I told him about myself.
My tongue is, to put it simply, imperfect. When I talk, I don't sound like the other deerserts.
My words don't chop and my sentences trail into each other or fade off instead of ending shortly.
I am one year younger than my Ovich. All this time, I was single and childless, due to my
adventurous nature. I was born in early October, making me a Libra.
I hadn't used my cell phone in ages, and it probably didn't even work anymore, so I gave Ovich my email. The next day, I got an email from him.
O: Want to go to the volcanic hillside?
R: Sure~
(I thought to myself, how easy it was to talk to him! It was like we had been together for our whole lives....)
O: Meet me tomorrow at noon?
R: That's good!
We left the next day and I packed pretty much anything and everything I think we might have needed. I was surprised to see that he hadn't brought a thing excepting one box, but it was perfectly okay.
He sat down next to me and opened the box. Inside was a lava cake. It smelled delicious, and I almost wanted to take a bite right then and there. "Oh... you brought some... uh, lava cake~" I responded, with a slight smile. Ovich blushed hard and took a breath.
"Y-you like lava cake too?"
"Yes~"
"Well, cool!"
"The lava cake's cool and all, but have you ever heard of something called the Serpent's Stare?"
"No, actually. Tell me!" He leaned forward a little in his enthusiasm and I just had to smirk. He was too cute.
"Well, the story goes a bit like this... Up on the mountain, there is a place called the Temple of Apollo's Chariot, where there is nothing alive but dangerous creatures called Lava Beast. Deep within..." It was obvious he had stopped listening to me, so I got his attention again and we were off.
I started up the rock face of the Temple, climbing the makeshift stairs that the stones had made. Deep below, I could see a pit, frothing with new lava and the shadowy beasts that live in this treacherous place. Marsh called out my name, but I couldn't respond with much more than a hissing shush. All of the noises faded away to nothing, as I pushed in the sunny tile, hoping that a bridge would appear to help us cross. But this was a trap door instead, and I fell in.
I plunged into the lava, and it burned through every fiber of my being. My eyes were wild and teary and it was all I could do to focus on Marsh's cries for me.
"Marsh... I ll--oo..."
And then I was gone.
But soon, the sun rose again for me, and I was in a field of flowers. I was a little deersert again, and I was alone. Where was my mother? Where was anyone? I started crying, and soon a little boy deersert trotted over to me.
"W-whaaht's wrongge?" He stammered.
"Nutin'~" I replied. Our voices were back to the old ways, before we learned to talk around them. His eyes were the same color as Marsh's and he had something in his tail... Could it really be?
I woke up from my dream beside Marsh. My rose pin was still intact and we went to our favorite cafe. He ordered two of his favorite, one for me and another for him.
As I sat back down, he pulled out a few sheets of paper and began to sing.
