Name
Terr
I was originally going to find a name that meant 'ash' in some other language, then the name Terr came to me. It's from the movie Fantastic Planet, where Terr is one of the main characters. Though the bean's design has no relation to the character, the name just stuck.
Gender
Male
Personality
mischievous- Terr is a bean who especially loves causing mischief to others, thinking it as nothing more than a harmless joke. Sometimes he'll go over the top just for a good laugh, which doesn't end up too well. He enjoys pulling pranks with his friends despite his older brother's consultations.
sarcastic- It's not uncommon to see Terr muttering sarcastic remarks under his breath. He usually only uses it to mock others, and will rarely do so to sound nice. One of his favorite sayings is, "Why am I not surprised?" He doesn't mean any harm, which isn't the case for most people.
loyal- Terr is fiercely loyal to those who share his same beliefs; he'd do anything for them. If the beans he hangs around with are just as sly as he, he'll treat them like a brother. He'll always have his friends' backs, always covering for them if anything goes wrong. Though he hates it, he will always be the one to take the blame and the punishment to ensure that his friends won't have to deal with the trouble. He does it somewhat as an IOU, but doesn't really expect any favor in return.
eloquent- Just because Terr can be quite immature, it doesn't mean he's ignorant in what he's saying. In fact, Terr is very intelligent when it comes to words. Although he doesn't always use them in the nicest of ways, his wide range of vocabulary can easily allow him to express exactly what he's thinking. Terr could be described as a sesquipedalian, despite his young age.
narcissistic- Terr is self-obsessed in every way. He's confident in both his appearance and opinions. Throughout the day he will make subtle statements about his looks. He'll constantly ruffle the short fur on his head to make it messy because he thinks it makes him look cooler. He isn't ashamed of anything about himself, but sometimes he won't stop rubbing it in to others.

Story
I gazed up at the thousands of white fireflies gently shine in the alleyway. The cold stone floors suddenly felt harsh again against my raw skin, and wearily I situated myself back into my place. It was almost eerie in the number of months that had gone by without a single soul knowing I was here, as if I were nothing more than a shadow that simply disappears in the dim lighted night. I heard hurried footsteps echo though the alley, and my ear twitched. The wind blew fiercely again, which untidied my matted fur, and I shivered. It shouldn't be that hard to notice me, but to be fair I probably blended in pretty well with my surroundings, unfortunately.
I was longing for company. It felt as it the whole world was against me; the environment, the people, everything. But during this pensive time alone, I realized something; if I was out here in the first place, no one even wanted me to begin with. I only had myself for as long as I could retain my own thoughts. When my eyes and ears opened there was no one there. I have never seen my own mother's face, or even heard her voice. I was alone, my own role model, my own family. My heart heaved with sorrow. I called out to whatever could hear me, but recieved no response. I closed my eyes and attempted to fall back asleep.
Morning awoke me with a strong blow to the back. I jolted awake with a start to find myself buried under a plastic trash bag, thrown from above by a careless person. My eyes narrowed, jealously loathing the privelages of both the people and dragons of the city with a roof over their head and a warm dinner sitting in their bellies. I wriggled out from beneath the black bag, and was about to leave when suddenly a wonderful scent escaped the bag. Who knows what it was, but I tore it open and was slapped in the face with a plethora of different smells. I stuffed my face with food, not caring whether what I was eating was edible or not. After my feast I layed down next to the bag, sighing contently. It wasn't the best meal, but it thankfully did stop the awful sting of hunger in my stomach.
As the day went by, I would occasionally peek my head out from the alley, expecting to meet eyes with a stranger. Instead I was greeted with a kick of dirt and sand in the face, which wasn't a pleasant feel in the least. It burned in my eyes, like acid that ate at my flesh. Blinded, I stumbled into a puddle, and without a second thought shoved my head all around it to rid of the sand. When I was confident my vision would be regained, I squinted. After I was 100% sure I was immaculate, they shot open, and boy, I couldn't believe my eyes.
I saw myself in the water's reflection, for the first time in my life. I wouldn't say that I wasn't surprised by my appearance, but if I looked past the grime, dirt, and dust that caked my body, I could even pass for a handsome bean! A rush of motivation lifted my spirits. "Maybe," I thought, "I actually can make this work!... I can have a home- a family- a place to live!" Every nerve in my body was tingling with excitement.
Stealthily, I crept out of the alley, then darted to any source of water I could find. In the distance, shining as if it were a mirror, was a lake that was as beautifully blue as the sea. The adrenaline in me kicked in, and, heart pounding against my ribs, I shot towards my goal.
When I finally arrived, I was gasping for breath, and I melted into the water. For over a half hour I swam near the edge, and I could feel the muck slowly disperse from my fur. After crawling out and drying myself, I took a deep breath and stood proudly near the water. I felt stronger, both physically and mentally, just at the mere thought of finally having someone to care for me. It fed my hunger for a family enough to go out and seek someone who will. The first day I had made a friend, he turned into my family. It like to remember that day as the most important event that has happened in my life.
When I met him, I wasn't sure what to make of him. There wasn't anything about him that screamed 'danger,' but for some reason I couldn't trust him. He was quiet and reserved, humming softly to himself. When I got a look at him from the dark alley, he looked like just about every other dragon I've seen in the city. But there was something different about him. He noticed me.
With a rustle of his ear, he turned his head, and his eyes met mine. A soft gasp escaped my lips, and I scampered backwards into a pile of garbage. "Hey- hey- hey! Are you okay?" His concerned face came into my view, looking down on my fallen body. "What're you doing here? Are you lost?" He asked so many questions that I didn't really have answers to. "No, I just like to hang around trash cans," I replied with a scowl. I suddenly dropped my gaze, because I quickly realized what a jerk I sounded like. "Great job, Terr. Now you'll never find a home," snapped the voice in the back of my head. A small chuckle came from the bean's mouth, then said, "You're kinda feisty, aren't you? You know, it would be okay for you to stay with my brother and I, if you want to, I mean," he gladly replied.
My heart thudded loudly, so loud he could probably hear it. "Would you really do that? For a dirty street dragon like me?" I asked loudly. He laughed, then said, "'Course! Come on, follow me." My admiration for the dragon shot through the roof. After his consent, I never left his side until we reached his small home. "I promise you, I'll pay you back one day if it's the last thing I do," I secretly promised him. That was the first time someone cared about me, and the first time I cared for a soul.[Words; 1077/1200]
