Equid's Name: Mayberry, named after the lead vocalist in CHVRCHES
Age: 3 years
Height: 13hh
Gender: Mare
Personality (based on which song?): Mayberry's personality is based upon a (albeit twisted) take on "The Mother We Share"
To begin her personality, I must first explain the circumstances of Mayberry's childhood. Mayberry's childhood was not a happy one, you see, and it caused trauma to her mind that has lasted through the years. When she was a young filly, dependent on her mother for survival in the wild, tragedy fell upon the herd in the form of deadly teeth and flashing claws. Mayberry, hidden in a rocky alcove, bare witness to this horrifying event with her own innocent eyes. While Mayberry was not the only survivor of the wretched event, she was the most mentally scarred. She had watched her mother and her herd perish before her very eyes, as she would never be privy to forget. After the happenings that went on that fateful day, Mayberry became aware that something unusual was beginning to happen to her. Something was stirring, in the back of her mind...
Once upon a time, Mayberry had been a carefree, joyful filly, who lived each day for the fun of it, and loved her mother dearly. Post-trauma, she became skittish and timid, hiding herself from everything and everyone. Left abandoned and alone to deal with the stress and fear, a disorder of the mind began to originate. Mayberry was in need of comfort and guidance, and from that need arose a second identity. This second 'personality' was in fact a dissociative identity that had been triggered by the trauma that she had endured. Her second identity reveals itself only when it is optimal that she remain strong. And, emotional and flighty as she is, she is not often able to do so. Instead, a different personality, one that holds no name, transfers itself to the controlling role. Sometimes Mayberry is knowledgeable of the switch, though sometimes she has no remembrance of it. Once the original Mayberry retreats, the unnamed personality holds reign. Her second personality is almost her opposite. While Mayberry is timid, the second identity is courageous. If she is needing of comfort and protection, the identity is giving of those things. The unnamed identity is responsible, while Mayberry would be the one needing guidance. An introverted Mayberry could be pushed back when needed for her proud and domineering second personality to take control.
While her dissociative disorder is sometimes difficult to manage, frightening, and disruptive, Mayberry became used to it over time. She is aware that this second identity is part of her, and even recognizes it as herself, but she also views it in a third person setting, creating the illusion that she is not as alone as she might actually be. While dissociative identity disorder might sound hard to live with, Mayberry is very well at living a mostly normal life. She may never be rid of this phenomenon, though she has come to even grow attached to it as time passed.
In Mayberry's instance, when the song speaks of 'the mother we share', it could be interpreted in a few different ways. Mayberry has two identities, both of which would share the same biological mother. Mayberry's own physical body could also be interpreted as a metaphorical 'mother' of both identities. Or, the trauma that Mayberry endured could be the 'mother' (creator) of both personalities. In any of these circumstances, the lyrics 'And the mother we share will never keep your proud head from falling', could hold true to the fact that there is no shame in having a disorder, or being 'alone'. The lyrics, 'And I will cover you, until you go-o-oh, and if I told the truth, I will always be free', can refer to the fact that the second personality has taken on the responsibility of a mother-like role, and 'the truth' that would set Mayberry free would be something similar to facing her fears.
(Eep, sorry it's so long! Her personality is hidden in there somewhere ; o ;)
Art: Image
A timid Mayberry portrayed in the foreground, while a ghostlike vision of her second identity lurks in the background, head held high and ready to take on the responsibility.
What's her relationship with her parents and siblings like?: Mayberry did not have a long enough time with her mother, though the memories she does have are happy, if not bittersweet. Though born without any siblings, or knowledge of who her father was, Mayberry does view someone as a sort of sibling. Her second identity, though without a name, has been there for comfort and responsibility whenever she needed it. Of course, as to all siblings, there are certainly downsides. She is not always happy to be pushed aside and her body tossed around and used by someone else, no matter if that someone else is a part of her or not. Mayberry has never known the true feeling of being close to friends or family, so she holds close to any sort of 'bond' she can feel with her split identity.

I'm really sorry for the month-long wait everyone, but I've finally managed to make a decision! I'd like to reiterate that I'm judging on all form aspects, not one specifically!
Congrats Zombie!
What drew me to this form was the really interesting personality. You must have researched some into mental illness and it shows through; I feel like there's lots of interesting development to be made with this character, and I'd love to read more literature of her if you make it!

I have to say though-- all your forms were very very well thought through, and your art was all gorgeous, genuinely. It has to be said that the worst part about making equids is the judging.
