I am going to name this graceful kia Harper. You pronounce it (Harp-er).

Harper's favorite weather is the simple rainy day. The reason behind this is she loves the pitter patter of the raindrops. The little drops seem like they are dancing to a rhythm. Rain seems to push everyone inside. The rain seems to pull Harper out into the rain. She will grab her dance shoes and practice her warm ups. She will dance her best because no one will be watching.

(origin: Aramaic)
Originally I'd been looking up the names of tigers depicted in mythology and popular fiction, stumbling upon Sheer Khan from the original Jungle Book fable. Researching Shera, a similar yet more feminine name inspired by the idea of Sheer Khan, I found it meant 'brightness,' a perfect name considering the weather choice I selected and the book character that originally inspired me.




Shera's most fond of sunny weather, as it allows for the perfect swimming and hunting conditions. This aspect of her was inspired by the fact her dark pelt reminds me of deep ocean waters, while her gradient stripes are reminiscent of how water changes coloration according to depth. Her colours along with her actual design itself gives an overall tropical feel, particularly thanks to the bright greens and blues, and tiger like patterns across her body.Combining the concept of tropics and water is what made me create Shera's concept.

In many cases, one doesn't simply like a certain kind of weather because it resembles you, but also because you have some sort of memory or there is a more complex function for one to desire a certain condition.

Shera had been abandoned by the edge of a tropical forest in India when just a pup, and had been found and adopted briefly after by a group of Bengal tigers. Seeing her stripes, they must have confused her with one of their own, for they took her in and raised her. The female who had adopted Shera had cubs, and while some of her young accepted Shera, others didn't. During development Shera encountered difficulty in being accepted by her adopted kin until it was time for training, her talent giving her social leverage.

Shera's pelt was well adapted for camouflaging into the surrounding territory. Her black and greens blended in well to the foliage and shadows, and in water Shera remained well hidden by the blue wisps which span along her backside. As a result she was a successful huntress, and earned the respect of other animals in the area. This helped her develop a deeper appreciation for her abilities as a huntress, and as a result any conditions that benefited her talents was also appreciated.

As a dedicated huntress, sunny weather is what she finds best, as it's the easiest condition for tracking prey and it is the weather she is most used to. Heat causes scents to become more prominent, and allows less moisture to interfere with the original odor Shera had been tracking.

Heat has never been a problem for Shera, as she had always naturally taken to water. Whenever it becomes too hot outside she'll simply find the nearest pool and swim. Some rivers do have crocodiles, though her light belly and darker backside help her camouflage well in water, and disguise her as she swims, her scheme being similar to a great white in that aspect.

It is also common for tigers to spend hours on end basking in the sun on heated rocks, Bengal tigers showing a particular dislike for colder weather. Having been raised alongside the felines, she would have similar tendencies.

In the end, tigers are elusive creatures who conceal themselves among foliage. Having been raised in a tropical area where one has to hunt to survive Shera feels most comfortable in hot weather, as it is the traditional hunting condition of the Bengal tiger.

General Character


Having been raised by felines Shera shares similar characteristics to the big cats she was associated with. She has a tendency to nuzzle, cuddle, rub her head along others, entwine her tail when making friends and can be very physical when displaying affection. This often makes people intimidated by her, as they assume she's being flirtatious.
Being raised in the wild she knows little to no English, though she's intelligent and a quick learner and so is able to pick up easily. She will often mimic words others say, though they don't really make sense to her, and will try and use them to communicate, though she is usually unsuccessful in her attempts.

Being inquisitive and eager to learn Shera isn't very cautious when exploring new enterprises. She's confident in her abilities to defend herself, and as a result doesn't feel the need to restrain herself from presented dangers. Her confidence allows her to be playful, often trying to get those she meets to come play some sort of game with her or interact. Her playfulness even with strangers is a trait which differentiates from her big cat associates. While some kiamara's make her wary many have managed to catch her interest, and she shows it in wanting to learn more about them and collaborate.



Romantically


Shera's idea of 'romance' is more instinctual than emotional. If she were to select a mate she would have to feel they would be able to fit either one of the traditional roles in a way that would compliment her. She would either be attracted to someone who is clearly more capable than she is of a dominant role, or she would find someone more suited to being in a motherly and submissive role so she herself could be the family guardian. In any case, Shera has experienced no attraction yet to males, and tends to have a female preference.



Creative Hobbies


Other than sun basking and hunting Shera does a variety of things to keep herself entertained. Taking shells, clay, teeth or other natural ornament making materials Shera has learned how to create her own jewellery. Having watched jewelers and journeymen from the canopies she observed them and the way they dressed, crafting similar items for fun in her spare time. She learned to make hair ties out of natural material to keep her long hair back while hunting, and also has learned how to make her own weapons.



Other Hobbies


Spying on kiamaras who come close to the forest and toying with them is something Shera finds almost unreasonably fun. She'll sometimes take some of their things before racing away, hoping for the kiamaras to give chase. Sometimes she may return the objects she takes, sometimes she may not, though whatever she does isn't to be cruel, but is a result of her friskiness. Much of her mischief making is done in collaboration with Damascus, whom is her pet of sorts.

His movements spoke of the eternal chase between prey and predator, the explosion of gore at the climax, that gentle prayer the survivor offered. He paced the caverns edge with the madness of a murderer, and when Shera opened her eyes, it was all the young male could do not to cringe when those vivid eyes befell him.
He should have let the birds kill her.

Looking now at the infant who lay at the edge of his home he circled her, frowning. Why he'd saved her he didn't know... She'd have made a decent morsel for the carrion birds. And now that she was here what was he to do with her?

Smiling at him fondly Shera came forward, her movement startling him as she pressed her head to his chest and purred, nuzzling in. Glowering the rayena placed a paw on her head and shoved her away before scuttling deeper into his grotto and clutching a fragment of meat with a bristle. He'd always been possessive of his food, his belongings, his home...and he'd let...this...this vile pup come into his humble abode and disrupt it's equilibrium. Snorting he began nibbling away on the ration he guarded, the pups smile dwindling as she eyed the fraction of food. Glaring at her he quickly held it out of her reach, closing his eyes and turning away from her. Yet glancing back, he saw she was now watching him.

Her expression seemed pleading, her broad eyes shining as she looked up at the male with a small, affectionate smile. She no doubt expected a share of his piece, and despite his coldness, Damascus found himself rolling his eyes and cutting an edge of the meat before dropping it on the ground before Shera's paws. Ears lifting slightly Shera picked up the food quickly and curled up close beside Damascus, nibbling on her share and mimicking his expression as she did so.

He watched her curiously a moment before continuing as he was before, Damascus for some moments, perhaps not regretting her company.

Shera has a lean muscled, agile build. Having learned to climb trees, swim, and give chase to prey during development she refined her physique to be the most effective predator possible. She's fairly strong, though namely quick, as her prey tends to be smaller animals rather than larger.

Foggy Days

She loves foggy days. She grew up in a rather misty place as a child.
In her mind, The fog is something that hides and protects. It seals the truth, hiding it within itself. Not to mention, fog are low clouds, making her feel like a god of sorts, walking along the sky.

On lovely fog filled days, she likes to walk around. This seems rather boring and somewhat dangerous, but she loves doing it. If she walks far enough, she'll get to the beach near her house. The think fog rolling in, mixed with the light mist of water and ocean sounds. If she's earlier enough, the raising sun brings single rays of light into the pot, making the scene all the more lovely. She finds it very relaxing, removing stress and the tension she has.

Sometimes if she's lucky, a few animals comes and join her.
As she grew and watched, she became fond of the scene. Only letting loved ones come with her to enjoy the morning scene.

she was named for hurricane Audrey, which hit Louisana and Northern Texas in 1957.

Since she was a child growing up on the coast, Audrey has always been fascinated by them. The incredible and destructive power they wield, the deceptive calm of the eye, the uncontrollable and even unpredictable nature of the storm... she always had a keen interest in these natural phenomenons.
Now that she's older, she's just plain obsessed by them. When she's not in college studying meteorology(weather), she spends her summers with a team of storm chasers, studying, tracking, and riding right into the heart of hurricanes. Some call her crazy, wondering what possess her to want to put herself in the middle of a hurricane. She'd tell you that it thrills her. That she loves to feel power of the wind, the surging of the water. She views a hurricane as a living thing, free and wild.
To the average observer, that's why she loves hurricanes. If you were to dig a bit deeper, you'd find a more personal reason.
Audrey used to be scared- terrified even- of hurricanes. She hated having to evacuate her home whenever her ocean side town was in the path of an oncoming storm, and she always lived with the fear of everything she had being destroyed by the hurricane.
